Dancing Between The Hearts- Tylia and Theo

Chapter 4: Heart of Gold

Theo remained silent throughout the way, focusing on the road. On the other hand, Tylia alternately gazed out of the window and stole a glance at him. Tylia was curious about his blended appearance. His attire looked old, rugged, yet fresh, confident and stylish.

Every aspect of Theo's personality drew women to him. His physique was polished and slightly muscular, and he had a good-looking appearance.

With each woman who approached him, he realised that they were all adept at controlling situations to their advantage.

He found it quite bothersome. When he went out, he wore clothes that looked messy and untidy. On the other hand, his compulsive tidiness seriously limits his attempts. Thankfully, he can keep the greedy individuals from fixating on his riches.

Theo, who was aware of her curious look, smirked. He suddenly made eye contact while Tylia stole a glance. Caught in the act, her eyes widened in shock, and she quickly turned around. Her cheeks felt hot with embarrassment.

Tylia only then noticed him chuckling as if he had deliberately caught her off guard. Feeling irritated, she let out a sigh of defeat. Just like that, a portion of her embarrassment and awkwardness faded.

Then he said, "I apologise for not greeting you properly earlier. So, hi, I'm Theodore Knight. Nice to meet you. And… would you mind sharing your name?"

However, Tylia courteously responded, "Hello. I'm Tylia Jackson. It's nice to meet you too. I think you have a lovely name."

When Tylia said hello to Theo, she gazed at him and admired his gorgeous grey eyes. In return, Theo found himself enchanted by the beauty of Tylia's golden eyes. Their moment of attraction endured for about ten seconds before the sound of honking horns from other vehicles broke it up.

Tylia broke the air and asked, "Are you a friend of my uncle?"

He replied, "Yep, but we're more than a friend. I guess Logan was your maternal uncle."

She nodded, "Positive. Mom and uncle are siblings. Oh, why he didn't come?"

"There was an emergency. I'm sorry for not telling you earlier," he explained. Tylia was shocked by the answer and asked again, "What happened to Uncle?"

Theo frowned as he recalled the situation. He said, "His fiancée was involved in an accident. It happened that I was nearby, so he asked me to pick you up. After I drop you off, I'll go straight to the hospital."

"There's no need to send me home. Let's go to the hospital," Tylia said, worried about Elara.

"Are you sure?" Theo asked to confirm, and Tylia nodded.

"All right, you need to inform your parents first," Theo said as he fished out his phone and handed it to Tylia, but she refused.

She said, "Thank you, but there was no need. My family was there."

Theo curiously asked, "What are they doing at the hospital?"

"They work there," Tylia said, and Theo remembered that the Jackson family owned the hospital and that the young lady next to him carried the Jackson family name.

After that, he changed direction and drove to the hospital. As they arrived, Elara had just undergone the surgery.

One middle-aged nurse approached her and said, "Ms Tylia? How are you? Did you wait for Dr Matthew and Dr Aiden?"

"Auntie Clara!" As Tylia and the nurse shared a warm embrace, it became evident how tight-knit their relationship was, especially with Clara among the hospital staff.

Tylia answered, "I'm fine, auntie. I come here to visit Elara."

Then Clara remembered, and she said, "Oh yes, yes. Mr Logan's fiancée had serious injuries. I heard it was irresponsible parties caused the accident due to an old grudge. Don't worry, my dear. She is out of danger now."

Clara then glanced at Theo, who was standing behind Tylia. She suddenly felt delight.

She said, "Tylia, I heard about the gossip recently. I'm relieved you moved on. There is no need to stay with people who don't know how to appreciate yourself. Your new boyfriend was more handsome than Mr Hunter."

Clara smiled widely when she made those remarks. She had long considered Tylia as her daughter. When news about Chris and another woman spread, she was upset and resented him. But now she was relieved. Tylia was unaffected and had a new boyfriend who was more charming than Chris.

Tylia's mouth was wide open, and she waved her hand at Auntie Clara, "No, Auntie, you misunderstood. This is Mr Knight. He is a friend of Uncle Logan."

"Oh really? But he is quite handsome. You must consider him. Right, young man?" Auntie Clara turns towards Theo as she seeks approval.

Theo nodded with a wide smile. He just goes along with whatever Clara says. It was a polite gesture toward older people.

Clara happily said, "See? He agrees with me."

Before Tylia could respond, Clara told them visitors were restricted because Elara needed to rest. Then, Clara excused herself, leaving Tylia speechless, alone in the corridor with Theo.

Tylia said, "I'm sorry, Auntie Clara was a little chatty. She was joking."

"She looks happy. I can't say 'NO' to her," Theo said. Tylia was relieved that Theo understood. They were sitting nearby, awaiting news about Elara outside the ward.

The door creaked opened. A doctor and nurse came into view. Tylia got up and rushed forward, and Theo followed her. "Dad, how is she?" Matthew was surprised to see Tylia's presence. He wanted to ask his daughter how she came here but just skipped those and proceeded to respond immediately.

Matthew dismissed the nurse and said, "She is out of danger now and needs proper rest. Logan is inside with her now. And this is?"

Theo was about to open his mouth, but Tylia cut him as she introduced him to her father. Matthew bowed before Theo as he expressed gratitude for helping his daughter and Logan when they needed it.

"It was late by now. Just go inside. No need to wait," Matthew took the lead and knocked before entering the room. Tylia was shocked when Elara came into view. The room was quiet except for the sound of the EKG machine beeping. Half of her body was wrapped, and she was unconscious.

Logan came beside Theo and asked, in a low voice, "Did she request to come?" Theo nodded without a single word. Logan sighed. He knew how Tylia was. She always prioritised the one she loved before herself.

Tylia was grieved by Elara's condition. She was attacked by a group when she was alone. Due to a heavy blow, the bones of her arm have sustained fractures and there were multiple stabbed wounds on her body.

She approached Logan and Theo, and Logan instantly hugged his niece to calm her down. He patted her back and said, "She will be all right."

They walked outside, and Matthew said, "Mr Knight, would you be free to join us for dinner?"

"Thank you for the invitation. I would love to, but I need to rush back to work." Theo politely declined.

Matthew nodded with a smile carved as a subtle acknowledgement toward Theo. Then he turned toward Tylia with a pretending stern face and said, "Young lady, we must go now. Your mom is so concerned about your well-being."

His tone carried seriousness as he implied that Tylia was in trouble because she was not going home after school.

Tylia's hand covered her mouth and widened her eyes. She said, "I am so sorry about that. I never intended to make Mom worried."

A cold sweat appeared near Tylia's forehead as the guilt veiled her.

Logan was annoyed by Matthew's playful act, which had turned his dearest niece blue. He gave a sharp glare and said, "Stop teasing her."

Busted, Mathew settled his stern with a charming grin. He rubbed Tylia's head and told his daughter to wait in the lobby as he headed toward his office. Mathias was waiting for him. They had a quick meeting before heading home.

Logan told Tylia, "I will walk you to the lobby."

Theo followed them, reminding Tylia, "Wait for me in the lobby. Your Valentine's stuff still in my car."

Promptly, a laugh scoff escaped Logan's mouth, and he said, "They were persistent and stubbornly chasing after you. They don't know how to give up?"

A slap landed on his arm, and she reminded her uncle, "It is a polite gesture from my friends. No need to be so mean."

From the beginning, Theo has smirked at Tylia's antics. She was so adorable that people always teased her. "All right, see you at the lobby," he said as he walked away.

When Tylia and Logan arrived at the lobby, they could see Aiden waiting nearby. "Hey!" Aiden walked toward them.

"I need to go inside, now. Wait Theo here," Logan said as he turned back towards the ward.

"I will visit tomorrow," Tylia said, and Logan nodded before he hurried inside.

Theo's car arrived, and Aiden directed him towards the nearest staff parking lot where his car was. Surprised, he saw the compact car full of bundled pink and red boxes.

"The boys at Moon Private High School were crazy enough to send you a gift every year without fail," he said with an unbelievable tone.

"There are even more this year," Matthew, who had just arrived, suddenly chimed in.

Tylia stood quietly, speechless at her brother and father's response when they saw the gifts she had received today. Together, Theo, Matthew, and Aiden placed the stuff into Aiden's car.

"There's no need to go to school tomorrow. Today alone is enough. If they add more tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and the day after that, I don't know," Aiden complained.

Matthew brushed his son's thoughts aside and said, "Let them be. Let the best man win."
