Chapter 2: Bonding Through Reunion
After four incredible years, a ten-year-old Christopher Hunter excitedly squeezed through the quaint little fence near the garden with his eight-year-old brother, Leonard Hunter. The boys served as young masters in the Hunter household.
Jackson and Hunter were neighbours, as a small fence separated their backyards. Chris was the same age as the twins, Aiden and Amelia. They always enjoyed spending time together, especially during school holidays.
They ran into a gardener who was cutting the delicate sapling. "Hello, Uncle Arthur", they greeted the gardener.
When he saw them, he couldn't help but smile widely, and he cheerfully responded, "Hello, boys. Come to play with twins and Tylia?"
"Yes, Uncle!" both answered in unison.
"That was great! They are having breakfast. Just go inside, and you will see them," Arthur told them as he pointed at the mansion.
"We'll go first. Goodbye!" Chris answered as they waved their tiny hand.
"Be careful, don't fall!" he called out, reminding them, who were darting excitedly into the mansion. Just seeing them can brighten anyone's day.
As soon as they stepped into the mansion, they were greeted by the warm sight of Lilian seated at the grand dining table, sharing a delightful breakfast with her children. Chris's eyes were drawn to adorable Tylia.
She was a delicate little four-year-old toddler. Her beautiful brown hair was neatly braided down her back, adding an extra touch of charm to her adorable look. Her features were soft, and her voice was so gentle. Her large golden eyes were fixed on the jelly doughnut on the plate.
"Morning everyone!" the boys greeted everyone at the table.
"Morning Chris and Leo. Come join us," Lilian invited them to joined breakfast as they took the seats alongside Aiden. Having breakfast together was also one of their fun activities.
Lilian smiled at the scene of the kids having breakfast together. Previously, Lilian was a young scientist at her father's company. After getting married, Lilian decided to become a full-time housewife. Taking care of her children at home brings her peace of mind.
Moreover, the two cheeky neighbours' often visit. The lively chatter of the children adds to the cheerfulness of the house.
Aiden quickly finished breakfast and asked, "What will we play today?"
Leo suggests, "How about we play in the treehouse near the garden?"
And Amelia chimed, "Yes…Mom said the weather is perfect to play outside,"
"Sounds cool!" Chris agreed immediately. Tylia tugged gently on Lilian's sleeve with her tiny hand.
"Mommy, can I play outside too? I want to play with my friends," asked little Tylia with hopeful eyes. Her friends, she means her pets.
"Of course, sweetheart. Sara will take you there," her mom responded warmly. Sara, Tylia's nanny, nodded with a smile.
After breakfast, the children rushed outside, excitedly squealing, and headed straight to the treehouse. The treehouse was lowered to the ground, making it safe and perfect for kids to play in.
Amelia played with her tea set inside the treehouse. Sometimes, she sent Tylia a cup of lavender tea she made. It was pretending to be tea in the cup. The boys climbed, jumped, and ran around the treehouse. While others spent time in the treehouse, Tylia and Sara enjoyed playing with Tylia's adorable little pets.
There were three rabbits, two Persian kittens, two quails, a parrot, and a goose. Tylia has lovingly named all her pets after their colours. They are called Grey, White, Spot, Rainbow, Leaf, and many more.
She even named the frog she found out of nowhere. Sara was once horrified when Tylia tried to catch a frog or other dangerous animals. The animals react quickly to Tylia's presence.
"Look how she engaged with her pets. It seems like they could understand her," the maid in the house said, entertained by Tylia's behaviour.
"She enjoys chatting with the flowers and little plants in the garden. Sara and Arthur usually join in by pretending to talk to the trees and animals," the other maid responded. They can't help but find her adorable.
After long, Tylia became thirsty. Sara intended to take Tylia into the house and have a drink together. However, Tylia didn't want to leave her little friends. Arthur was somewhere else, taking a break. Sara thought leaving her momentarily was fine, so she rushed to the kitchen.
Tylia noticed a squirrel jumping nearby. With her tiny, chubby hands, she tried to reach for it, but the squirrel scurried away, prompting her to chase after it. Unknowingly, she wandered to the far end of the yard, completely away from everyone else.
The shrubs stirred, warning Tylia of the danger lurking. She ran as fast as possible, but her tiny feet stepped helplessly. The kidnapper in the bushes lunged at her.
Sara, who had just arrived from the kitchen, witnessed this incident, screamed and flung a bottle of water to his face.
Chris impulsively jumped and bite the kidnapper's arm. Due to the pain, his grip weakened, and Tylia slipped away. Frightening, she clung tightly to Sara.
The kidnapper grabbed a dagger he brought and darted towards Chris. Chris, who was startled, fast dodged, but his arm was slightly cut.
Aiden and Amelia hurled rocks repeatedly at the kidnapper. Meanwhile, Leo, terrified, ran and asked for help. The guard, who appeared to be nearby, swiftly apprehended the kidnapper.
As Lilian rushed to the scene, the children were quickly brought into the house. When Lilian noticed the wound on Chris's arm, she told Geoffrey, the butler to contact her husband immediately.
At the same time, another maid rushed to inform the Hunter about the incident. Shortly after, Aela and Wyatt arrived. Their faces filled with shock as they saw Chris's shirt stained with blood. Matthew treated Chris's wound soon after he arrived.
Geoffrey spoke to the other maids with concern and said, "How could he harm children in this neighbourhood? The police have stepped in and are now investigating. There's no way he'll avoid serious punishment. He's incredibly dangerous. He even carrying a knife."
Wyatt breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that his child only suffered minor injuries. Matthew and Lilian thanked Chris. If it weren't for his brave actions, the kidnapper would have succeeded in taking Tylia away.
Wyatt faced his child and spoke firmly, "Sometimes, I worry about your bravery stunts. Remember, your little body might not be so lucky next time."
With a calm and confident tone, Chris replied, "Hey, Dad, you always said that my courage comes from you. Just look at me. Everything is fine. After all, I must ensure the safety of my future wife."
They were shocked by Chris's bold statement. He was fearless in taking action and speaking out, which elicited a small laugh from everyone.
Lilian chuckled softly and said, "I'm glad someone is willing to take care of my Tylia."
Just like the spark ignited a forest, today's incident reached Old Mrs Hunter's ears. Old Mrs Hunter adored Tylia for a long time, and because Chris was also fond of Tylia, she enthusiastically wished to unite them.
Hunter family decided to send a marriage proposal a week later. Jackson family have no reason to opposed as long as Chris treated Tylia well. As for Aela and Wyatt, they promised to devote Tylia just like their own daughter and never mistreated her. Just like that, they agreed to the proposal.
Two years afterwards, Old Mrs Hunter passed away due to old age. After months of the funeral, her husband became weak as he lost appetite, leading to declining of his health.
Wyatt and Aela became worry and decided to move to live with Old Mr Hunter in Bay Leaf City.
Due to the significant distance between the two cities, which takes hours to travel, and the fact that Aela and Wyat were responsible for caring for ill Old Mr Hunter, Hunter and Jackson rarely contacted each other.
Chris entered military training at seventeen when Tylia was eleven. Their preoccupation with pursuing their dreams led to four years of no contact. After being apart for so long, Chris felt his feelings for Tylia fading.
That also influenced by Chris's point of view, which was Tylia might have someone she truly liked. Therefore, he ignored the concerns about their relationship. But he respected his parents' wishes and continued the relationship as an obedient child. The engagement bond was just one responsibility he had to fulfil.
On the other hand, Tylia received a gift from Hunter on every occasion, stating that it was sent by Chris. Unbeknownst to Tylia, the gift was Aela and Wyatt's effort to maintain the relationship because they had considered Tylia as their daughter and intended to continue this relationship. She was filled with hope as Aela sweetly encouraged her to wait for Chris.
Their drought love relationship continued for a long time before finally ending, when Chris and Tylia met at Amelia's wedding. Tylia appeared more stunning at the age of fifteen. Every man was captivated by her enchanting presence, and for the second time, Chris fell in love with her.
He was delighted to meet his beautiful future wife. Chris was both shocked and overjoyed to discover that Tylia had faithfully waited for him all this time. After that moment, Chris began to show his affection without being told.
Even if he were busy or long gone to the mission, he would ensure he was present on all special days, bringing various gifts—especially Tylia's birthday and Valentine's.
Love between the two did not last long. Something happened while Chris was on a mission. One of Chris's teammates died because of him.
Robert, who sensed the danger, shoved Chris away. Unfortunately, the bullet pierces through near his heart. The medic was unable to save Robert. Unbeknownst to anyone, Robert's final wishes slowly became torn in Chris and Tylia's relationship.
