Chapter 10: Liam and Noah
"Welcome home, young miss!" both greeted in unison.
"Uncle Geo! Sara! You were waiting for me?" Her heart softened at her maid's gesture.
"Yes, each day we eagerly await your for return," Sara said as she wiped a tear from the corner of her eyes. She was happy to see Tylia in a good mood again.
Lilian approached them as she said, "Sara deeply feels your absence. Every day, she would ask about your condition, Tylia."
Tylia grasped Sara's hands and entered the mansion while speaking to her mother.
"Let's dine with all the maids to honour my return," she suggested. "Is that okay, Mom?"
"Of course, my dear." After Lilian's response, she headed to the kitchen to request the cook prepare a special meal.
That afternoon, all the staff, including Arthur and Oliver, paused their duties to have lunch with Lilian and Tylia.
Even though it appeared like rain was on the way that afternoon, the joyful spirit and warmth in the Jackson household remained strong as they enjoyed their meal together. Their cheerful laughter filled the air.
Once Tylia was full, she returned to her bedroom for a rest. Seated on the bed, she retrieved the phone from the nightstand drawer.
As she quickly unlocked her phone, many texts came in. Her friends texted her one by one, asking how she was and sending kind words. Their thoughtful messages made her moved. In her responded, she told them she was doing just fine.
Putting aside the phone, she went into the bathroom. After refreshing herself, a knock came, and her name was summoned from outside the room.
"Come in, Mom," she invited, and Lilian slowly entered the room. Her daughter had been discharged from the hospital earlier and looked cheerful, and not once did Tylia utter about Chris. Since the incident a few days ago, Lilian has been worried that bringing up Chris's name will stress Tylia out again.
But Aela called and reminded her about the dinner she had arranged for Chris and Tylia. She hesitated to let Tylia go, but she needed to ask because Tylia had the right to make her own decision.
"Tylia, am I bothering you?" she inquired. Tylia shook her head.
"No, Mom," Tylia replied with a bright grin.
"I have something on my mind that we should talk about. Aela called to remind us about the dinner she planned. Are you interested in attending?"
"Yes, I'm going," she answered confidently as if nothing had happened between her and Chris.
"Are you sure? If you're not prepared to see Chris, I could notify Aela that you're still feeling unwell," Lilian asked again to confirm. Her voice was gentle, concerned about her daughter.
"I'm a certain, mom. Trust me," she expressed, beaming a smile towards her mother, adding a layer of warmth and reassurance.
Feeling relieved, she said, "Alright. If that's the case, then I can rest easy. Please get some rest. I will call when dinner is ready." She kissed Tylia and left.
Lilian was about to bring herself to rest but suddenly recalled something important. Upon hearing giggles downstairs, Lilian wasted no time as she headed down.
"Yen-ma!" the twins, in unison, stumbled at their word. They ran cheerfully when they noticed their grandmother making her way down. Lilian chuckled as she observed her grandchild eagerly making strides. Noah and Liam, just over a year old, had recently mastered running. Their little legs struggled as they climbed the stairs, one careful step at a time.
"Hey, slow down, kids," Edward reminded them. Edward was Amelia's husband and the twins' father. Amelia sighed as she felt tired of managing the twins, who had been full of energy from the beginning of their journey.
"Oh, my grand twins!" Lilian hugged them as she missed them and led them to the living room.
"Did Tylia sleep, Mom?" Amelia asked.
"Yes, I just left her room. We will have dinner together." Lilian responded. Lilian completely forgets about her fatigue when she meets her grandchildren. She entertained Liam and Noah all day until the twins fell asleep.
Amelia and Edward soon flew for their second honeymoon, and Noah and Liam stayed at Jackson's mansion for a while.
As Valentine's Day dawned, couples of lovers all over the world expressed their romance. The celebration would include all forms of love, including the love of family.
The Jackson mansion kitchen has been bustling since this morning, keeping up with the twins' demands for a special celebration cake and cookies. Matthew and Aiden had a day off as they planned to bring the twins to the hospital. The twins would visit and celebrate Valentine's with their great-grandparents, Logan and Elara.
Hand in hand, the twins happily took measures on their steps with their Auntie Tylia towards Elara's room. Lilian, Matthew, and Aiden followed behind, enjoying the moment the twins playfully strolled through the corridor.
All of them pause at the door in unison. Tylia gestured for the twins to hush by pressing a finger to her lips, and they nodded, understanding. Their eyes lit up in excitement as they prepared for the surprise.
She lowered her knees and whispered, "Ready, everyone?"
"Yeady-!" Liam yelled with full spirit as his hand lifted high, but Noah's quick palm strike abruptly stifled his excitement.
"Q-yet Li-am!" Noah stumbled on his word when he told Liam to be quiet, but he was louder than his brother.
Tylia took a moment to finish her laughter and then said, "All right, all right. I said one, two, three, and we pushed open and together said 'SURPRISE'."
Unison, the boys yelled, "O-ey!"
"Pfft!" Aiden's shoulder shook as he struggled to keep his laughter in check. Matthew thought maybe the surprise might not be a surprise anymore. Still, that didn't change their enjoyment of being together during these times.
Tylia started counting. "One two three…"
"SURPRISE!" the boys shouted as they ran into the room.
Their surprise was successful when Elara was taken aback by their presence. Oleander and Adam were the most joyful because they really missed Noah and Liam. They last met on Christmas Day.
Adam helped the twins up, allowing them to rest on his lap. "Oh, you are heavy now!"
"I eat a yot!" Liam declared, lifting his shirt to reveal his swollen belly. Adam, paying close attention, found himself laughing out loud at the sight. It had been so long since he had enjoyed a laugh like that. Today brought him a deep sense of happiness.
"Cake!" Noah pointed at the box that Lilian placed on the table.
"The boys are busy making cake and cookies this morning. They want to share and eat together," Lilian told them. Noah and Liam hopped down and grabbed a box of cookies. They passed around to everyone so they could taste it.
Elara smiled warmly when one of the twins handed her a cookie. She noticed her fiancé gazed at the boys with gentle eyes. Logan asked his grandnephew, "Can I have the cake?" Liam gave a nod. He walked over to Lilian and asked to earn cake for Logan.
Lilian handed him a slice of cake on a paper plate, and he took careful steps; his eyes darted to the cake, worried it might fall over.
Logan found the boys' carefulness in monitoring their actions quite amusing. That was so cute!
"You must bear at least one for me," he told Elara, and Elara responded with a laugh. "I'm serious," he said.
"Okay, but I want at least three," Elara said, delighting Logan.
They both thought celebrating Valentine's like this wasn't a bad idea. They loved having their family around, especially the twins, which made the event lively and memorable.
Tylia finished her last bite of cookie, wiped her lips and stood up. "Time to go!"
"Where are you going?" Logan asked.
"She had dinner with Chris," Lilian answered. She knew Logan was protective of Tylia, especially after what Chris had done.
"Where?" Logan asked again.
"Starlight Hotel. Don't worry, uncle. It's just a dinner." She gently grabbed her bag from the sofa and left.
