Chapter 58: Obtaining Reward: Spiral Fang (2)
Although its abilities were enough to make up for its shortcomings as a sword, making such a transformation unnecessary, as it gave the weapon a unique taste, because I was a magical swordsman and had trained with the sword for all my life, it was something that I couldn't help but look forward to.
Suddenly, my thoughts came to a grinding halt as a realisation struck my mind.
Felix, in his Cybernetic beast form, couldn't refine the magical beasts' cores to enhance his strength. What would happen if I fed him precious metals with magical properties?
What would a Cybernectic Horned Panther find more pleasing and nutritious than a precious metal with magical properties?
I had purchased top-grade firearms to see if Felix could assimilate and use them with the help of his talent and 'Cybernetic integration' ability. However, I was still uncertain about the results.
If it worked, that would solve my previous problem of finding a way to increase Felix's strength. If that didn't work, then I could still increase Felix's rank while in his natural magical beast form. Albeit it would be much slower, since that form was still at Rank One.
Whereas his Cybernectic Swift Horned Panther form is in Rank Two.
I pondered if an advancement to Rank Two would increase his Cybernectic Swift Horned Panther form to Rank Three.
Realising that I needed to purchase resources for both Felix and Spiral Fang, I grimaced at the thought of the dent it would leave on my bank account.
I swiftly pushed the matter to the back of my mind to ponder on later, since I hadn't confirmed this hypothesis yet.
The third skill was also impressive.
But it was something that I needed to test myself to be sure.
The information about how to bind and activate it flooded into my mind. Though useful, I was already aware of such common knowledge.
I pricked my thumb with my teeth till I drew blood and smeared it on the hilt.
Instantly, Spiral Fang absorbed my blood and glowed with an intense light.
I could sense it not only forming a physical connection with my body but also a spiritual connection to my soul.
The bonding was completed in an instant.
The bright light quickly vanished.
I gently swung Spiral Blade to the side.
WHOOSSH!! Whhiiirrr!!
The segmented spiral drill immediately started rotating.
I stopped.
It continued rotating for a while before it stopped.
I swung the sword again from side to side. At times, fast, and other times slow. I could sense it trying to adapt to my movements.
I channelled my mana into it, with a thought, I activated the 'Spiral Surge' ability.
WWHHIRRR!! WHHIIIRR!!!
ZZZZZZZZ!!!
It suddenly underwent an astonishing transformation. The drill, which was previously 1.2 meters (3.8 feet) long, suddenly extended to 1.8 meters (5.8 feet) and spun even faster.
Ehh!! I was taken aback by its rapid, sudden transformation, but I quickly steadied my grip so it wouldn't touch the ground and make a mess in my room.
WWHHIRRR!! WHHIIIRR!!!
The more mana I poured into it, the more the segmented spiral drill continued to spin more rapidly, generating even more force.
The force it generated was enough to tear through magical armour or even a shield. It could be used effectively as a short-range and long-range weapon.
I could take my opponents by surprise, launching an attack when they least expected it.
I withdrew my mana, effectively deactivating its ability.
The Zahara Clan had spread rumours that I possessed defective spirit veins like Milas. However, it was only after I had failed to awaken the clan's innate talent that they had forced me to awaken the Magical Swordsman Path.
It served as the perfect excuse to explain my formidable physique.
So I could only use this ability sparingly in public to avoid drawing attention and arousing suspicion.
Spiral Fang quickly stopped spinning and reverted to its normal state.
Suddenly, I sensed a faint will from the Spiral Fang through our Spiritual connection, trying to influence mine.
Drill!!
Drill!!
Drill!!
I pushed back.
My will was much stronger than its will, so I quickly subdued it.
Although it didn't attempt to influence my will anymore, I was still cautious.
I didn't want to be caught by surprise.
I unsummoned the Spiral Fang.
It vanished, transforming into a streak of light that entered my body.
I sensed its presence within my body through our connection, just like Felix's.
I summoned it again. Then unsummoned. Repeating the process until I had gotten to use summoning a soulbound magic item into my grasp.
I stored it away.
I checked the time and noticed that thirty minutes had gone by.
I took out my smartphone from my pocket and switched it on.
I noticed I had an email from two minutes ago.
- Sender: Instructor Fredric
-Sender's Message: Your application has been approved by the Bakery Club. Don't forget our discussion on laying low for a while. Have fun (^-^) !
I pretended as if I didn't see the other half of the message.
I scrolled to the following message.
- Sender: Julia Eldar (President of the Bakery Club)
-Message: We have approved your application, Ezekiel Zahara. Please ensure to arrive on time for today's club activities to mark your first-timer's attendance.
If you're unable to make it today, please schedule a meeting with a member of the Leadership team and provide a reason for your absence.
Thank you!"
Julia Eldar! A descendant of the Eldar Clan - a prestigious clan with a long line of awakeners of the Magical Swordsmen's Path.
The second-ranked Magical Swordsman of the Class Two Magical Swordsman Department.
She.. was the President of the Bakery Club.
I found it difficult to understand how such a fierce person could be the leader of a club like this.
I couldn't help but ponder what crossed her mind when she saw my application.
I had picked the Bakery Club because it had the fewest students. It was the best place to remain low while I steadily improved my strength.
