Chapter 4: Threads of Destiny
'Tap…' A soft sound echoed in the white corridor as a woman walked gracefully, her footsteps light and deliberate. The hallway, reminiscent of ancient times, stretched endlessly before her. Her head was held high, her eyes fixed firmly forward, radiating a confidence that matched her measured pace. Yet, beyond the certainty in her gaze, there lingered a faint gentleness—a subtle balance of strength and grace.
'Tap…' Another step followed, deliberate and smooth, perfectly in harmony with her poised demeanor. Her movements were fluid, almost as if they were part of an unseen rhythm, while her eyes betrayed a quiet depth—a calm strength tempered with a compassionate warmth.
'Tap…' With every step, she drew closer to the imposing doors at the end of the corridor. The hallway, gleaming in its pristine whiteness, was flanked by towering pillars that seemed to stretch endlessly, creating an ethereal path leading to her destination. The doors, massive and ornate, stood as a monolith at the corridor's end, a symbol of authority and purpose.
'Tap.' Her step sharpened slightly as she stopped before the great doors. There was no hesitation as she raised a delicate hand, her skin glowing faintly with a soft, almost unearthly radiance. Her fingers paused briefly in front of the doors before she knocked—a single, gentle tap. The sound was faint yet carried an unmistakable weight. With that, she withdrew her hand, lowering it with grace, and clasped both hands neatly below her waist.
She stood in stillness, her posture unwavering, as she awaited a response. Her eyes, unwavering in their confidence, reflected the same calm certainty she had displayed throughout her journey. In her bearing, she seemed to embody a beauty beyond mortal comprehension—an elegance so profound it was almost otherworldly.
For a moment, there was nothing but silence. Then, faintly, a sound stirred behind the doors. She remained motionless, her composure unbroken, as the massive doors—practically akin to gates—began to groan and shift, opening slowly to reveal what lay beyond.
As the doors opened fully, she stepped forward once more.
'Tap…' One step.
'Tap…' Another.
Her footsteps echoed softly in the vast chamber ahead, each step precise and purposeful. She advanced a few more steps before stopping abruptly. Without hesitation, she dropped to one knee, lowering her head in a display of deference.
"Master," she said simply, her voice clear and steady as her gaze remained fixed on the floor.
After a pause, she slowly lifted her head, her crimson eyes now gazing upward. Before her sat a man on a grand throne, his presence emanating an aura of immortality. He exuded an air of immeasurable power and timeless authority. Though his eyes remained closed, he seemed to see everything. For a long moment, he remained motionless, his expression inscrutable. Then, his lips parted, and he spoke.
"What is it?" he asked, his tone flat and devoid of emotion, as though nothing in the world had yet proven itself worthy of his interest.
The woman wasted no time in responding, her voice professional and calm. "We have detected an irregularity," she said, her expression unwavering, the same composure etched into her features as before.
The man's eyes remained closed as he listened, though a faint shift in his posture suggested intrigue. Resting his head on his hand, supported by the armrest of the throne, he allowed a faint, almost imperceptible smile to cross his lips.
"Oh? And what sort of irregularity might that be?" His tone had shifted ever so slightly—curiosity lacing his once-neutral voice.
The woman, noticing the subtle change in his demeanor, suppressed any reaction of her own and responded promptly. "It pertains to destiny," she began, her words deliberate. "A massive number of lives in Sector..." She paused briefly, her tone as professional and measured as ever, before finishing, "… are about to be altered."
"Hmm... interesting," the man murmured, his faint smile lingering. His tone carried a growing sense of intrigue. "How many lives, exactly?" he asked, his curiosity now apparent. However, before she could respond, he raised a hand to silence her. "Never mind. I'll see for myself," he declared.
Suddenly, his aura flared to life, surging upward with overwhelming intensity, like a blazing inferno threatening to consume everything in its path. Yet just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished, leaving the air eerily calm.
He opened his eyes for the first time, revealing a gaze that seemed to pierce through reality itself. A moment later, a laugh erupted from him—deep, resonant, and filled with an unrestrained excitement.
"Hahaha! Hahahahahaha!" His laughter echoed throughout the chamber, wild and unrestrained. "I don't believe it… At last, something is happening!" His voice brimmed with exhilaration, the monotony of eternity seemingly shattered in an instant.
His aura flared again, this time burning even brighter than before, like untamed flames roaring to life. Its sheer force shook the very air around him, a display of power that seemed boundless and raw.
The woman, still kneeling before him, maintained her composure despite the overwhelming force emanating from the man on the throne. Her crimson eyes remained steady, watching as his exhilaration filled the grand chamber.

"There's even space among the elements!" Evan exclaimed with excitement, lying sprawled on his bed. Yet, as he stared at the information before him, something sparked in his mind. In an instant, he sat upright, now perched on the edge of the bed.
"I never could have imagined something like this!" he shouted, his voice filled with astonishment, while his hands gestured dramatically as though to emphasize the enormity of the situation. Then, pausing for a moment, he added, "Because seriously, who could have expected this?" His tone rose again, this time quieter, as if to ensure no one else overheard his outburst.
"Alright, alright, calm down... There's still so much to do, so much to figure out," he muttered, extending his hand outward, almost as though he were trying to calm another person—though it was really just himself. He took a deep breath and refocused his attention on the glowing panel hovering before him.

"Hmmmm... I've figured out most of my status now," Evan muttered, tilting his head to the side as he rubbed his temple, a gesture of thought and mild frustration. "But… what exactly is cultivation?" he questioned aloud, turning his gaze to the line on the panel labeled Cultivation: NONE.
"Maybe I should try clicking it..." he said, his voice tinged with curiosity as his eyes remained locked on the information. Hesitating only briefly, he moved his hand forward, letting his fingers press against the glowing interface.
The moment he made contact, the status panel shifted, transitioning to an entirely new set of information:
[STATUS]
[CULTIVATION: NONE]
"Cultivation is the process through which a being absorbs energy from their surroundings, strengthening themselves through its assimilation."
"To cultivate, a being requires both a soul and a spirit root."
..........
Reading these lines, Evan's crimson eyes widened slightly as realization struck. He exhaled slowly, relief washing over him. "Huuuuuh… Thank goodness for the system," he said softly, though he wasn't finished. "If I didn't have the system... I wouldn't even be able to cultivate," he added with a slow nod of acknowledgment. "Mhm, mhm…" He nodded again, a faint smile curling his lips as his thoughts turned optimistic.
"So, cultivation is about absorbing energy from the surroundings... but... is that all there is to it?" His voice wavered slightly near the end of the sentence, doubt creeping into his thoughts.
Just as he pondered this, his eyes widened suddenly as a beam of light erupted from the system panel, striking his forehead directly. His body stiffened as a mechanical voice echoed in his mind.
[Ding!]

As the words resonated in his ears, Evan's hand instinctively shot to his head. His mind became flooded with an overwhelming stream of information—concepts, techniques, and principles of cultivation flowing into his consciousness at an astonishing rate.
The sheer volume of knowledge caused discomfort, and Evan quickly lay back down on the bed, his eyes shutting tightly as he tried to process it all. His breathing steadied as he sorted through the torrent of information, organizing the methods and techniques now etched into his mind.
After a moment of stillness, his eyes snapped open. A wide smile spread across his face as he sat up abruptly, moving into a seated meditative position.
"Alright, let's do this!" he declared with determination, wasting no time as he began to sense the flow of energy around him. Closing his eyes, he focused intently, his body entering the state of cultivation for the first time.

[A/N] – I'm truly sorry for the lack of chapters, but as I mentioned in the announcement for my first book, I've been… or rather, I am still sick. Back then, I thought I would recover quickly, but I was mistaken. I hope this clears up the situation, and I believe that posting new chapters will resume as usual… very soon.
