Cosmic Awakening: The Path of the Omnigen Sovereign

Chapter 8: Dance of the Wind

He exhaled lightly. "I was going to say that I was not looking down on you, but I might have just changed my mind."

Feng Jianyu's eyes showed surprise at Wu Yuan's reaction to her arrows. "You're faster than I expected. But that was just my warmup."

She fired three more wind-infused arrows in rapid succession. They came from different angles, but all targeted a single point, Wu Yuan.

With a burst of wind help at his heel, Wu Yuan moved. His figure blurred, weaving between the arrows with narrow, calculated steps.

"Your speed is faster than I thought," Feng Jianyu remarked, her voice calm but eyes sharp.

Without pause, she drew and loosed barage of arrows, each humming as they tore through the air toward Wu Yuan.

The arrows kept coming, swift and relentless, each forcing Wu Yuan to weave and twist with increasing urgency. Despite the pressure, they only managed to graze his clothes.

"The more I fight and use the wind element, the greater my control over it becomes." Realization dawned on him

By assimilating the Wind Mage's imprint, Wu Yuan didn't just gain wind affinity, it also sharpened his reflexes, speed, and agility far beyond the original intent.

Not only that, but it also heightened his precision and sensory awareness, sharpening his perception of airflow. Every subtle shift in the wind became clear to him, allowing for better control and instinctive evasion.

Dodging the wind arrows wasn't just manageable, it became a form of training in itself.

"What's he doing? Is he really not going to draw his weapon?" Feng Jianyu muttered, growing increasingly annoyed as she continued to shoot arrows.

She wasn't the only one eager to see what his path would be, even the envoy in the grandstand watched with anticipation.

Although the arrows were weak due to her cultivation realm and easy to destroy, but each one still consumed a chunk of her energy.

Her frown deepened. "Since you refuse to draw your weapon, let's end it here."

She raised her hand and shouted, "Gale Heart Precision!"

In an instant, the wind around her stirred violently, howling as it condensed into a razor-sharp arrow.

The arrow looked different from the ones she had fired before, smaller, sleeker, with a razor-sharp, needle tip. Its streamlined form pulsed with concentrated wind energy, as if it was made for piercing straight through anything in its path

Whoosh

she released the arrow, and a sharp whistle sliced through the air, as if the wind itself was being torn apart.

Wu Yuan sensed something was off. His movements quickened as he focused on the subtle shifts in the air around him.

With his increasee movement, he noticed an arrow coming fast at him.

"What is that?" Wu Yuan's scalp tingled, a chill crawling down his spine. He dodged instinctively, trying to shift out of its path, but it was like the arrow had a mind of its own, tracking every subtle movement he made.

"What the hell... this must be an innate skill," he cursed aloud, eyes narrowing as the arrow relentlessly pursued him.

"I can't let it touch me… or it'll be a problem," Wu Yuan thought, gathering the wind elements around his legs to boost his speed, but it was futile.

He darted across the arena like a leaf in a storm, the arrow chasing him with uncanny precision, always a breath away from striking.

"I can only bite the bullet." He gritted his teeth and channeled the wind elements around his palm trying to catch it with his hands.

"Idiot!" Fang Jianyu snapped, her face pale and her hand trembling. Firing that last arrow had really taken a toll on her.

"Trying to catch my arrow, made from my innate skill, with his bare hand? Truly foolish." She shook her head and lowered her bow, as if victory was already at hand.

Wu Yuan's palm shot out like a snake, weaving through the air toward the incoming arrow.

The arrow suddenly changed its direction to Wu Yuan's palm.

Wu Yuan's eyes wided. He didn't think the arrow would suddenly change it direction to fast.

He had planned to catch it at the shaft, avoiding its deadly tip, but it was too late to withdraw.

The arrow finally reached his outstretched hand. As it brushed against the wind element swirling around his palm, it trembled slightly but still pushed forward

"Envoy, won't you stop the arrow? If it breaks through, there's no telling what kind of damage it could cause," Xu Lei said anxiously.

"No need for that." She waved dismissively, though her eyes gleamed with interest, she truly wanted to see how Wu Yuan would survive that arrow.

"Even if his hand is damaged, it won't be a problem, I'll stop any accident from truly happening."

"Haha, you student is really a fool? Does he really think he can catch the arrow made by the innate skill of a wind archer or didn't you teach your student well" cang ming laughed out loud.

What she said shocked the rest of the principal, they didn't think the envoy would take action herself just to save Wu Yuan's hand from really getting injured.

"Understood. Thank you, Envoy." The principal gave a respectful nod, visibly relieved

On the arena.

The tip of the arrow penetrated Wu Yuan's palm, and then something strange happened.

The moment the arrow pierced his hand, it shattered into pure wind energy, flooding into the open wound with intent on tearing his flesh apart from the inside

"What the!" Wu Yuan shouted, his eyes wide in alarm. He felt a violent force rampaging within. If this continued, he knew he might lose the use of his hand entirely.

With his unwevering will, he controlled his own wind element trying to destroy the wind.

"Envoy won't you intervene now?" Th princiapl asked with a worrier face.

"Not yet…" She shook her head.

"But…" Before he could finish, a sudden shift occurred in the arena, drawing everyone's attention.

With the help of the wind he controlled, Wu Yuan had already forced out the foreign and hostile elemental energy from his palm, scattering it into harmless breeze.

His entire arm had turned red, with some parts slightly swollen, like a battlefield where two forces of wind element clashed violently beneath the skin.

"What?!" Feng Jianyu, who had already begun walking out of the arena, suddenly yelled. She felt the arrow she created had been destroyed. Spinning around in alarm, she raised her bow, quickly assuming a defensive stance in case Wu Yuan launched a counterattack.

But due to overexerting her body earlier, her movements were slower, lacking the usual sharpness and speed she was known for.

Wu Yuan had already appeared beside her, forcing her to halt her actions midway.

"You lose," he said calmly, his hand firmly clamped around her neck

"You…!" She looked at Wu Yuan, shocked, but the surprise quickly twisted into a frown.

"If I hadn't been negligent, you wouldn't have had the chance." Her grip on the bow tightened, wind curling around her fingers as if reflecting her frustration.

It was a disgrace for an archer with such talent to drop her guard and be careless.

Before she could say more, the envoy's voice rang out clearly from the grandstand.

"Wu Yuan wins this round."

He nodded letting go of her and walked down the arena as if the battle didn't almost cost his hand.

Feng Jianyu lowered her bow reluctantly, brushing past Wu Yuan as she stepped down from the arena. "Don't let this victory blind you. The next round won't be the same."she muttered as she went towards her school designated area.

Wu Yuan didn't pay her any attention but went back to his seat.

"Why didn't he reveal his path?" The yound man besides the envoy asked a little curious.

"I'm not sure. It's clear he can use the wind element, but his style doesn't match any known path." She shook her head.

"But that makes it more interesting, I want to see just what his path is."

"Tch, without Lan blood, his path's probably tenth-tier at best. No way he's anything special." The young man disdained.

"Lets not talk about that. Your brother would be surely be up in the next few rounds, aren't you nervous?"

"What do I need to be nervous about? No one here is even a match for him. His talent is even higher than mine." He said with his chest puffed out.

"That might be true, but have you forgotten the girl that awakened with an aspect?" She said teasingly.

"Even if she does, ice are still breakable aren't they?" He said looking in the direction of Ying Yue.

When Wu Yuan reached cloud city high school designated area, he sat down crossleg and let his consciousness sink in.

"Fighting is really the best way to learn. Something that would have taken me a day to understand took just a moment during battle."

During his clash with Feng Jianyu, the moment his hand was almost destroyed triggered a sudden insight into the imprint.
