Conqueror’s Desire

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: The Waves That Carry Feelings

The sun began to rise on the horizon, its warm rays illuminating the ship's deck, still damp from last night's storm. A gentle sea breeze drifted through the air, carrying the distinct salty scent of the ocean. Nami sat at the edge of the ship, her eyes fixed on the vast sea, an unreadable expression on her face.

MC, having just finished checking the ship's condition, approached her with a cup of tea in hand. "Spacing out this early in the morning?" he asked, offering the tea to Nami.

Nami gave a small smile and accepted it. "Thanks." She took in the tea's aroma before sipping it slowly. "I was just thinking… this journey really makes me feel alive."

MC leaned against the ship's railing, gazing at the sea alongside her. "You don't regret it, do you? Leaving everything behind and starting something new?"

Nami let out a deep breath before turning to look at MC. "If you had asked me before, maybe I would've said yes. But now…" She smiled softly. "I feel like this is the best decision I've ever made."

MC gave a faint smile, but before he could reply, Nami suddenly leaned in slightly closer. Her brown eyes shimmered under the morning sunlight.

"I'm curious," she said in a teasing tone. "Are you always like this? Always there for someone without expecting anything in return?"

MC raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

Nami gently poked his chest with her index finger, making him slightly tense up. "You always protect me, reassure me, and even face danger without me ever having to ask."

MC let out a small chuckle, trying to stay calm despite his heart beating a little faster. "Maybe I just like seeing you smile."

Nami stared at him for a moment before giggling. "That's a pretty good answer."

But before MC could feel victorious, Nami suddenly grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him closer, their faces now only inches apart.

"Or maybe… there's another reason?" she whispered, her voice carrying a hint of mischief.

MC could feel the warmth of Nami's body so close to his. His breath hitched for a second, but he refused to let himself lose in this little game. With a confident smirk, he met her gaze.

"Maybe you already know the answer," he replied in a low voice.

Nami looked slightly surprised—but only for a brief moment. She then gave a small smirk before slowly letting go of his collar. "Hmph. I'll find out more later."

MC chuckled softly as Nami went back to sipping her tea as if nothing had happened. But one thing was certain—their relationship was inching closer to a line that was becoming harder to ignore.

And on this vast ocean, in the middle of an adventure far from over, the feelings growing between them would continue to be tested by fate.
