Chapter 747: Tricky Hidden Mission and Dobby's Revenge!!!
Rain pelted the Quidditch Pitch on the morning of this Saturday like never before.
As Wood thundered a speech of his own to the Gryffindors, Black silently stared at the sheet of water outside, the AI still thinking of what had happened a few days back.
Teach me, Mr. Black. I beg you… The wizard had said. Teach me what you can naturally learn — The Ancient Magical Script.
Black's lips twitched as he remembered the notification that had sprung up then.
…

Congratulations Contestant Kai D. Stormborn
You have triggered a Hidden Mission…
…
Hidden Mission: Dumbledore's Tutor
Hidden Mission Grade: B-
Hidden Mission Summary: Burdened by helplessness, and the fate of his world weighing his shoulders, Albus Dumbledore has seen another ray of hope in the Script that abandoned the ancient wizards eons ago.
Teach the Ancient Magical Script to Albus Dumbledore before he loses his sanity.
Hidden Mission Objective: Impart an elementary mastery over the Script to Dumbledore
Hidden Mission Time Limit: 12 months

…
Black had, of course, accepted it.
With Set Assimilation, the Hidden Missions were few and far between.
Letting go of any opportunity would be a great disappointment, especially when the Hidden Mission was B- Grade.
Professor Dumbledore had let Black go after blessing him with this ticking time bomb.
Of course, the AI had dissected through the notification many times since then.
Black had learned many things from the Hidden Mission itself — answers that no one was willing to give him.
First, it was the use of another ray of hope.
It meant Dumbledore had already seen a ray of hope that could lead to trouble for Kai's plans. This one was at least obvious, given the change in Mana's nature around the Professor, his physical appearance, and the way he burned through the Despair.
Second, it was the mention of sanity.
Despite Dumbledore's comparatively calm disposition during the meeting, it was clear that the old wizard was going insane because of whatever he was doing behind the scenes.
Now, Black wasn't sure who would truly begin the doom of this world — Kai or Dumbledore.
Whomsoever finished his preparations first, would also strike first.
Third was the Hidden Mission's Time Limit itself.
Why only twelve months? Would Dumbledore go insane if not imparted with the Script? Or… would he find some another ray of hope, gaining even more strength than he would have otherwise?
If Dumbledore was going to get stronger anyway, then Black'd rather control the level of this power-up himself because…
… Kai couldn't harm Dumbledore in this timeline.
Surprisingly, there was a fourth element to the Hidden Mission as well. Unrelated to Dumbledore.
— the Script that abandoned the ancient wizards eons ago…
Till now, they had believed that it was the ancient wizards who had lost the Script, abandoning it for quick, simple strength using means like wands.
The Hidden Mission stated something completely otherwise, though.
Hey…
Black's eyes narrowed, processing the plausible reasons behind the twisted truth.
"Hey, Black!!!"
Black looked at Wood, who was now looking paler than ever. "Worried?" he asked.
Before Black could answer, Wood answered himself. "Don't be! We have practiced in all kinds of weather!"
Fred quipped, "We have, true."
George added, "Not Black and Harry."
Wood ignored it all. "Now listen, you all. I know the Slytherins have better brooms than all of us. But we have better people."
"Darcie's playing today…"
"Damn it, Angelina!!!" Wood chewed on his lips. "Don't jinx it…"
Fred and George and Black shared a chuckle between themselves.
Umbridge's plan to let the Cursed Ice claim the three Gryffindors had failed miserably.
With Black using Ancient Magical Script, Harry using Brave Heart, and Ron using Mecha Eye, they had barely survived the night.
To not put Black against Darcie on the Quidditch Pitch, Wood had initially decided to use Harry as Seeker. However, that plan came to nothing as well.
The Intra-School Competitions were being held on Saturdays for the 1st Group.
Among the Quidditch Team's players, only Harry hadn't gone through his duel yet.
If something happened to him on the Quidditch Pitch, and if he got his turn today, then that chance was as gone as good.
Not to mention, with only a few scores of students remaining, Harry and others' turns could come any day now.
Wood suddenly put a hand on Black's shoulders and everyone winced, knowing what was about to come.
"This is the time to do or die!" Wood told Black, making everyone roll their eyes. "I don't care if you have to break more fingers…"
…
Half an hour later, Black was literally fighting for his life up in the sky.
"Black!" Fred shouted over the rain. "Down!!!"
Black put his head down and… a Bludger-sized hail went hissing over his head.
George swung his bat, making the hail explode in thin shards of ice. "Someone's out to get you!" he roared, clenching his teeth.
Fred came from another side, swinging his bat at another hail.
Meanwhile, the Slytherins had already gained an eighty point lead.
Then there was Darcie, somewhere… In the thick downpour, they hadn't seen her at all. From time to time, the players, and the crowd, could see a blur cutting through the rain, chasing a golden drop.
It wouldn't be long till she caught the Snitch.
"Go, help them with the Bludgers!!!" Black shouted back at Fred and George. "I am going after the Snitch!"
"You will die!" Fred snapped.
"Don't take Wood seriously!" George added.
But Black had no choice in this matter, too. One time, he had already manipulated circumstances to make Slytherin lose the Quidditch Cup.
He couldn't do this every time, lest someone caught onto the strings of fate. Such things left traces, he knew.
But, still… hail?! Black shook his head inwardly. Does Dobby really want to kill me?!
Perhaps the House-elf was indeed trying to kill Black, if… if Dobby learned how the duel had undergone between him and Darcie.
That House-elf has gone nuts! Cursing Dobby, Black swerved the broom. "I am doing it!!!"
Fred and George let out curses of their own, whooshing away toward the Bludgers pelting Gryffindor's chasers.
Rain hit hard against Black's goggles. He couldn't even hear the screaming crowd and the commentary.
He had only one goal — Darcie.
She would be wherever the Snitch was anyway.
Hissssssssssssss!!!
Unseen to the eyes of everyone, another hail, hidden in the rain, kissed Black's flapping robe.
He looked up and gulped.
Not one. Not two. Not even a dozen.
The sky was full of hails, all converging on his position.
Right. Left. Up. And down. Black kept dodging the ice bombs, holding back the urge to punch up at the sky.
And then he saw her.
Yes. She was a blur.
Gritting his teeth, Black shot himself at her.
Darcie looked over her shoulder, her eyes glowing green behind the goggles. She looked behind him, then, her mouth slightly opening.
"Do you have a death wish?!" she roared.
Black rushed faster than ever, the Snitch buzzing in front of them.
The two of them whammed into each other, dodging one hail after another, chasing the Snitch.
Perhaps even Dobby couldn't see Darcie or Black anymore, for what happened next shouldn't have happened otherwise.
The crowd, for the first time, went silent.
Even the commentator paused, his gasp echoing.
Sensing the oddness, Black and Darcie looked back, narrowing their eyes to see through the rain.
Its size was bigger than a car.
It was coming faster than a car.
It was trying to run over them like a car.
It was so big that Black and Darcie could see their reflection running away in it.
Black spun back and eyed the Snitch barely a few inches away from him. "AHHHHHHHHH!!!"
Darcie's mind went blank. "You… blithering… moron!!!"
The hail touched their brooms.
Darcie snapped.
She spun on the broom, her wand flashing in her hand.
For a moment, the world lit up with thick bolts of green lightning.
Then, in the very next moment, a massive boom rang, deafening the downpour's sound.
By the time it was over, Darcie was flying midair, blood dripping off her sleeves and Black was lying face first on the muddy grounds, clutching the Snitch…
… an icy shard running through and through his shoulder.
