Chapter 107 - Shocking Gossip
Feeling too exhausted, Ruo Manni sensed someone taking pictures of her. Although she felt somewhat displeased, she didn’t take any action.
The Gus Empire has very strict regulations regarding personal portraits. These students could only dare to post their pictures on the campus forum without mentioning her name directly. Ruo Manni thought it wouldn’t cause any major trouble and decided not to worry about it.
However, once she returned to the team training room, Sheila said sourly, “Vice Captain, you’re famous now, the swimming pool goddess.”
Ruo Manni looked at her in confusion, “What do you mean?”
“You’re trending on the campus network,” Sheila replied.
There was some noise in the mech training room where Tamaki Kazia and Tino Venamoinen were resting. In the lounge, Hebrew Adam and Su forty-three, who had just finished sparring, opened their light brains at her words.
Ruo Manni also opened the campus network and scrolled through it. Sure enough, there were a bunch of sensational topics.
“I saw the genius girl, oh my…”
“The genius girl is a goddess, and she has a great figure…”
“The genius girl, swimming pool goddess…”
“This year’s elite female students…”
“The genius girl is very aloof…”
Ruo Manni thought that even though her previous world and this world were completely different, they seemed to share similar origins. Therefore, certain quirky human interests remained the same. These gossip hot topics were just as ridiculous as those in her previous life.
She clicked on the most popular post, and the first photo showed her graceful figure in the water. Although her face was slightly blurred, it was a beautiful shot, and despite the cheesy title, there weren’t any negative comments.
The second photo was of her onshore, wrapped in a large towel. In this picture, her face was also somewhat blurred, and the post’s comments were very positive.
However, the second most popular topic made Ruo Manni unhappy. It was a scene where she was pulled out of the swimming pool by the instructor.
At that time, she had swum for an extra half hour to push her limits, so she looked utterly exhausted and pitiful, being supported by a tall, muscular young man.
She hadn’t thought much of it at the moment; she was dead tired, and who would think of anything else? But looking at the photo, it seemed so ambiguous… Was the photographer intentional or accidental?
Plus, why did they make her chest look so large and sexy? The stream of “licking the screen” comments below made her even more displeased.
Ruo Manni’s face turned dark as she considered reporting it to have the admin delete the photo. Before she could take action, Hebrew Adam had already opened the communication channel and directly stated his identity, asking the admin to remove the post.
Normally, after a complaint, the admin would first verify and then issue a warning, letting the poster delete it themselves. However, with the prince’s swift command, within ten seconds, all posts about Ruo Manni were deleted.
Ruo Manni looked at Hebrew Adam and sincerely said, “Thank you, Captain.”
Hebrew Adam nodded. “As long as you don’t want to draw attention to yourself, it’s easy.”
Well, don’t expect any sweet words from this boy, but Ruo Manni had gotten used to it.
“The captain is really nice to us team members,” Sheila said with a sweet smile.
Hebrew Adam glanced at Sheila and nodded, “As long as you stay in line, we are partners.”
Sheila’s expression darkened, and she fell silent. Ruo Manni could clearly sense that her mood was off but pretended not to notice.
Ruo Manni was increasingly certain that there was some tension between Sheila and Hebrew Adam, but that was none of her business; as long as it didn’t involve her, she was fine with it.
Before noon, Hebrew Adam left the school first, followed by Sheila, who left with Mina Olli.
In the morning, Tino Venamoinen and Tamaki Kazia had played with mechas, and in the afternoon, it was Ruo Manni and Su Forty-Three’s turn.
Ruo Manni piloted the mecha and had a simple sparring match with Su Forty-Three. Although Ruo Manni and Su forty-three had not yet fought seriously, in terms of combat power, Ruo Manni likely couldn’t beat him at the moment.
It should be noted that in the morning, Su Forty-Three and Hebrew Adam had exchanged over a hundred moves under five times the normal gravity. After an hour of physical training under five times the gravity, Ruo Manni was already out of breath, while those two had been sparring.
However, Ruo Manni was piloting a Level 5 mecha, while Su Forty Three was in a Level 3 mecha, which completely suppressed him, so Ruo Manni was having a great time. A sudden thought crossed her mind: if it came to piloting mechas in combat, she might not necessarily lose to Hebrew Adam.
As students, they repeated their busy academic lives every day, leaving them with little free time, which made it feel as though time passed without them noticing.
A month had flown by in the blink of an eye, and with the announcement from their instructors and mentors, the entire first-year class at the First Military Academy was stirred up, as the monthly outdoor survival training was about to begin.
For these kids, who had been cooped up in school for so long, the chance to break free from their daily study routines and step out of campus was something worth celebrating.
As a result, after the start of the school year, everyone was deliberately or inadvertently inquiring about the training camp.
However, on the school’s internal network, any posts related to the training camp were locked by the school, preventing first-year students from viewing them, and upperclassmen were also issued a gag order.
So after inquiring back and forth, the first-year students were unable to learn any actual details.
Instructor Dudley had only roughly announced that they would be going on a training camp the day after tomorrow, stating that during the training, military academy students were not allowed to bring storage devices. Other than the supplies distributed in the backpacks, they could only carry a few items and their commonly used weapons.
He did not mention where they would be training, whether there would be any specific tasks, and so on.
It was useless to ask; Instructor Dudley would not respond to any inquiries.
As the only female vice-captain, Ruo Manni had to consider some of the more tedious matters. Don’t talk to her about gender equality; it wasn’t her who was the captain, so the responsibilities shouldn’t all fall on her.
Given Hebrew Adam’s personality, could she really expect him to handle all the trivial matters clearly?
After all, they would be out for four or five days, and it was said that it was almost certainly a wilderness survival training camp. During that time, the students would have to rely on themselves for food, drink, and shelter, so if Ruo Manni wasn’t careful, she would end up suffering the consequences.
Reluctantly, Ruo Manni had to take the initiative and dial her uncle Leandro Ferreira’s communication.
The school had rules stating that upperclassmen could not reveal the details of the training camp to the freshmen, presumably to train the freshmen’s ability to react in unfamiliar environments.
Therefore, Ruo Manni didn’t want to inquire about that; she only wanted to know what items she should bring for the training camp.
“Our mecha engineers will be training in a different location than your combat department, and the activities are also somewhat different. Let me check with my friends in the combat department first. Just wait a moment, Junior Aunt.” Leandro Ferreira said.
After ending the communication, Leandro Ferreira asked a few students from the third-year combat department he was familiar with about the training camp details and then summarized the information to pass it on to Ruo Manni.
With this general information, along with her own knowledge, Ruo Manni created a checklist and naturally handed it over to Hebrew Adam. As the captain, he had the money and connections; if she didn’t let him handle the purchases, who else would?
