Chapter 103 - Team Battle
Ruo Manni was aware of her own situation and ignored the disdainful looks from others who regarded her as weak. She felt quite good about herself because during this visit to the swimming pool, she noticed that the strength in her arms had improved significantly compared to her last time here.
Sure enough, Instructor Qing, in a good mood, said to her, “Ruo Manni, your arm strength data has increased rapidly. In less than ten days, you’ve already managed to handle five times the gravity.”
“Thank you, Instructor, for teaching me the training methods; they’ve been very effective,” Ruo Manni sincerely thanked Instructor Qing.
In the previous eight days, Ruo Manni had to attend classes during the day and train in the team training room at night, leaving her no time for swimming training. She had been worried about not having enough time to improve her swimming skills, but this instructor taught her how to train her arm strength in the gravity room via messages.
Ruo Manni found Instructor Qing’s training methods very effective, and today, the results were evident during her swimming practice.
“Don’t mention it; this is all due to your hard work,” Instructor Qing replied modestly, although the smile on his face deepened.
Perhaps it was due to their compatible energies; despite not having spent much time together, they got along very well. With Instructor Qing present during the swimming training, Ruo Manni felt great.
Ruo Manni chatted quietly with Instructor Qing, not noticing that among the several military academy students who had just entered the swimming training hall, some showed a flicker of hesitation in their eyes upon seeing her.
It was the first holiday since classes started. Since Hebrew Adam and Sheila were busy on the second day of the holiday, the group of friends agreed to have special training together on the first day of the holiday.
Ruo Manni had planned this out the night before, waking up at six in the morning to train in the swimming pool for two hours before returning to the team training room to join her friends for the extreme training that could only be done during the holidays.
After leaving the swimming training hall, Ruo Manni took a flying car to their team training room. Now that her credits had exceeded 200, she didn’t hesitate to spend them to save time.
However, when she arrived at the training room, the other five had already gotten there, meaning Ruo Manni was late.
“Don’t tell me you’ve become lazy during the break, sleeping in until now,” Sheila said with a cheerful smile.
Hebrew Adam shot Sheila a glance and said, somewhat displeased, “The vice-captain went to train at the swimming pool early this morning.”
Having been called out by the prince, Sheila’s face turned a little red, and she shot Ruo Manni a sideways glare.
Ruo Manni subtly rolled her eyes back at Sheila, thinking, “What’s with the hostility early in the morning? If you have the guts to glare, do it at the second prince, not at me. I haven’t said a word.”
However, how did Hebrew Adam know that she had gone to the swimming training hall so early? Was he monitoring her? That didn’t seem likely; if he were monitoring her, he wouldn’t have revealed her whereabouts.
To be honest, Ruo Manni didn’t know why, but she felt that since the day Hebrew Adam had complained about her, making her want to jump up and scratch his face, his attitude towards her had changed somewhat in the past few days. He hadn’t displayed his sharp tongue at her again.
However, his change only applied to her; while he had toned down his words towards others, he still didn’t hold back with what he needed to say. He had even stirred up quite a bit of animosity for her with Sheila.
Sheila seemed to want to get closer to Hebrew Adam; more accurately, she wanted to pursue him. However, Ruo Manni didn’t feel that Sheila had any romantic feelings for him.
Whenever Hebrew Adam sided with Ruo Manni between the two girls, Sheila would feel all kinds of envy and jealousy, so she often made little jabs at Ruo Manni in conversation.
However, Ruo Manni often felt that Sheila just wanted to vent her frustrations and didn’t have any tendencies toward maliciousness.
Ruo Manni thought that this girl seemed to be a bundle of contradictions; even from the sidelines, she could see that Sheila was a mixture of conflicts. The way this noble lady’s thinking had twisted was surely a result of an unusual life experience.
But Ruo Manni wasn’t interested in being a confidante. As long as Sheila didn’t turn against her, she couldn’t be bothered to engage in too much with her. At most, she would retort if Sheila spoke harshly.
Sheila didn’t have the eloquence that Ruo Manni did, and whenever Ruo Manni retorted, Sheila would become infuriated. However, not long after, she would act as if nothing had happened, which made Ruo Manni suspect that she had some masochistic tendencies.
In the morning, everyone trained their skills, and by noon, after tiring themselves out, they enjoyed the delicious food brought by the palace robot butler.
Hebrew Adam’s robot butler served dishes that Ruo Manni had never seen or tasted before, and while she was enjoying the food, she felt that Hebrew Adam looked much more pleasing to her.
Perhaps it was because Hebrew Adam had enjoyed these delicacies since childhood; while the other five were engrossed in the food and unable to extricate themselves, he maintained an elegant and unhurried manner. After the food was cleared away, he merely raised an eyebrow without making any further comments.
“Make sure to rest well and fully recover. This afternoon, we’ll have a sparring session in a double gravity environment,” Hebrew Adam said to the team members who were lounging comfortably in their chairs after eating.
Sparring in the gravity chamber?
It was obvious that the other teammates had never tried it before. Su Forty-Three became interested and said, “I wonder how effective combat would be in that environment. Tino Venamoinen, I challenge you.”
Tino Venamoinen was a strength-type warrior, a mid-level fourth-grade cultivator. He usually portrayed himself as a taciturn person within the team, and if it weren’t for his large stature, Ruo Manni might often overlook him.
Su Forty-Three was a late-stage fourth-grade cultivator, nearly half a head shorter than Tino Venamoinen. His tall and slender build suggested that he was definitely not skilled in physical combat.
So it was hard to say who would win between these two.
Although everyone had been training together for a long time, they had never fought against each other, so no one truly understood each other’s overall combat abilities.
Ruo Manni raised her eyebrows and glanced at Sheila. A match between the two girls would be interesting as well. She was confident she could completely defeat this girl and put her in her place to prevent her from always chattering in front of her.
However, Sheila was very clever. She immediately turned her head and said to Tamaki Kazia, “Kazia, I want to fight you.”
These two were definitely evenly matched. Ruo Manni smiled and withdrew her gaze, only to meet Hebrew Adam’s eyes. It was then she realized that, as a result, her opponent would be Hebrew Adam.
A mid-level fifth-grade warrior, which was even higher than her telekinetic level. Ruo Manni had seen Hebrew Adam fight during the entrance assessment competition. At that time, he had easily defeated a mid-level fourth-grade warrior in just a few moves, and the pressure emanating from him had been incredibly strong.
This kind of overwhelming pressure was something Ruo Manni had not felt from Dean Atchison, who was a late-stage fourth-grade warrior.
Was this oppressive aura because Hebrew-Adam had comprehended the will to fight when he ascended to the fifth grade, or was it simply because his cultivation was higher than hers?
But why didn’t she feel this from Instructor Dudley and Lieutenant Lin? Both of them had higher cultivation levels than Hebrew Adam.
