Chapter 42: To the Main-Peak?
The main peak disciple, Jong, got ready to unleash a powerful water-element spell against Mo Han.
All the spectators were watching with great interest. Many of them already believed that they were about to witness the dead body of servant Mo Han. The two servants of Ron Lee smiled with gritted teeth.
Jia Kai was trying to stop Jong with her most powerful spell, but she also knew that her spell couldn't protect Mo Han completely.
On the other hand, Mo Han remained calm, holding the cursed sword in his hand. He was ready to unleash the python spirit at any moment. The life-and-death battles he had fought on modern Earth had trained him to stay calm even in such dangerous situations.
But just as Jong released his spell, a powerful force suddenly descended from above.
The suffocating pressure made Jong kneel on the ground.
Everyone's eyes turned toward the descending figure. It was the old man—the elder of the sect library—Elder Ping.
The old man, with wildly grown hair, stared at Jong with red eyes.
"Don't you feel ashamed raising your hand against a servant?" Elder Ping asked as he stood directly opposite Jong.
Jong was almost half-dead with the appearance of Elder Ping, who was mostly known for his eccentric behavior.
"Elder, please show mercy. I was just teaching this servant some manners. I didn't intend to kill him," Jong said in a shaky tone.
But Jong's reply only made the elder angrier. "Do you think I'm an idiot? Huh? That Water Blasting Spell could've killed the servant in a second!"
Phat! Elder Ping directly slapped Jong.
The left side of Jong's cheek turned red from the tight slap. He felt enraged—humiliated in front of all the inner court disciples and servants.
"Elder, I wasn't going to release the spell on a servant! So, you don't need to punish me. Also, don't forget my status as a Main Peak disciple!" Jong said through gritted teeth.
Elder Ping gave a slight smirk and said, "Your status doesn't matter to me. As long as you make a mistake inside the sect grounds, I can punish you. I'm letting you go now only because no one got hurt. Run before I change my mind," Elder Ping declared in a serious tone.
Jong immediately stood up and walked away without another word. Before crossing the gate, he stopped for a second and glared angrily at Mo Han.
The two servants of Ron Lee also followed Jong in a hurry.
All the spectators began whispering to each other after witnessing the scene. Most of them were confused by the appearance of Elder Ping—because the eccentric old man hadn't left the sect library in years.
What made him come to the inner court?
What exactly is he doing here at this exact moment?
As if answering the doubts of the spectators, Elder Ping turned toward Mo Han with a serious look.
"You, little fellow… I gave you a punishment—to learn the Sun Piercing Sword in three days. What are you doing all these days without reporting to me? Do you think you can escape from my sight?" Elder Ping asked sternly.
Mo Han finally realized why the savior-like old man had appeared at such an odd moment.
He immediately bowed his head and greeted the elder respectfully.
"Respected elder, I have already learned all three forms of the Sun Piercing Sword. I just went outside the sect to do a task for my master. I apologize for the mistake I have made," Mo Han answered politely.
The old man sized up Mo Han from top to bottom and asked, "Words are not enough, little boy. Show me the results. If you dare to lie… you will suffer greatly," he warned in a threatening tone. The authentic version is on M|V|LEMPY_R.
But just as the old man finished speaking, a large fire blast hit the entrance gate. A massive hole appeared in the middle of the sturdy wooden gate.
Not only Elder Ping, even the spectators opened their mouths in shock. In all these years, many had tried to learn the Sun Piercing Sword, but not a single person had succeeded.
Many believed the Sun Piercing Sword technique was fake—created only to maintain the sect's name.
But finally, the day had come to witness its might.
Slowly, the shock on Elder Ping's face turned into a wild smile. He gave a strong pat on Mo Han's shoulder.
"Good… very good. You're definitely worth my time. You really perfected all three forms of the Sun Piercing Sword. Otherwise, that fireball wouldn't have been so massive. Can I know your cultivation level?" the elder asked with a curious look and a wild smile.
Mo Han scratched his head, slightly embarrassed.
"Sorry, elder. I don't know my cultivation level… but I do know some good sword skills. That's why I was able to use the Sun Piercing Sword," Mo Han replied with an honest look.
"Very well… tomorrow, go to the Administration Hall and check your cultivation level. If you've reached at least the seventh stage of Qi Condensation, I'll recommend you for the position of a Main Peak disciple. Understand?" Elder Ping asked, glancing at the mountain eagle overhead.
Loud gasps echoed around as all the servants were stunned by the elder's declaration.
"A servant going directly to the Main Peak? What a wonderful opportunity!"
"It's nothing short of rising from earth to sky. A true rags-to-riches story!"
"Stop joking… He needs to be at the seventh level of Qi Condensation. I doubt he's even crossed level three."
The whispers of doubt continued among the crowd.
Jia Kai, who stood to the side, was also quite surprised by the old elder's proposition. She didn't know whether to be happy or concerned about the unexpected news. A doubtful smile slowly appeared on her baby-pink lips.
Fatty Lambu, who had gone to gather information about the auction houses, still hadn't returned. If he were here… the fatty would probably already be jumping with joy like a wild pig in spring mud.
