Broken Soul (DxD)

After a long explanation of everything that had happened, Sirzechs sat there in thought. He had a rough idea of the situation, but he didn't know what to do with Issei.

The question was how to return Issei to his human state without provoking him into hostile actions. A real problem.

"So you're saying that he went berserk after you gave up?"

"Yes. I've never seen him like this. He was like off the chain. If it weren't for you, Riser would be dead right now."

"I know. However, that doesn't change the fact that your pawn is now like a wild animal, blindly following his anger."

"But how can we return him to his previous state? Will he stay like this forever?"

"Don't worry, I'll think of something."

"Thank you, brother."

"You're welcome. Go rest for now. I still need to talk to Lady Phoenix."

"Okay. See you, brother." Rias teleported to Issei's house.

Everyone waited for her to explain.

"How is Issei?"

"Bad. As my brother said, Issei is like a wild beast right now."

"Did Sirzechs-sama tell you why he became like this?"

"It seems he took my defeat too much to heart and was consumed by anger."

"And how can we return him to his previous state?" Akeno questioned.

"I don't know yet. Brother said he will study this phenomenon and try to return Issei to his previous appearance."

"What if he fails?"

"We have to believe that he will succeed."

Three people were sitting in the office. Sirzechs was talking to Lady Phoenix while Azazel was just sitting there in thought.

"Lord, I think we should call off this wedding. I had no idea my son would pull such a stunt."

"I understand. I'm glad we agreed. I want to ask that you keep your son away from my sister and her family. Knowing the current state of my sister's pawn, there's no telling what effect Riser's presence near Rias will have."

"Of course, Lord. I understand. Then may I go?"

"Yes. That's it."

Lady Phoenix bowed and used a seal to move out of the room.

"Any thoughts, Azazel?" Sirzechs questioned.

"About how to return the boy to his usual appearance?"

"Exactly."

"I have no idea. Do you have any ideas yourself?" Azazel shook his head slowly.

"Roughly. However, I need to check a few things."

"I see. Do as you see fit. And with that, I have to go."

"Okay."

The Fallen Angel Lord disappeared from the room, leaving Sirzechs alone with his thoughts. What to do now? He promised, but the Demon Lord had no idea how to fulfill that promise.

This was a problem created by Riser. If Sirzechs had known that this would end, he would never have allowed the Rating Game to be held. This is bad, knowing the character of the Phoenix's son, this will not end there.

In the evening, Rias lay on Issei's bed trying to fall asleep, but as luck would have it, sleep just wouldn't come. After all, she was used to sleeping with Issei in her arms, making him blush wildly.

What had happened to Issei? Rias hoped that Sirzechs would figure out what had happened. After several agonizing minutes of trying, she finally managed to fall into a restless sleep.

In her sleep, Rias saw horrible images of Issei dying over and over again in horrible ways right before her eyes. The scarlet-haired princess of destruction didn't even suspect what she was causing with the emotions she experienced in her sleep.

Sirzechs was sitting in his office sorting through some paperwork. Grayfia was standing next to him, watching her husband. Suddenly, a girl in a scientist's robe burst into the office.

"Sirzechs-sama, we need your help."

"What happened?"

"Your sister's pawn suddenly woke up and is causing a ruckus in the lab."

"What? But I used the domain of the ruler on him. How was he able to cancel the spell?"

"We don't know, so we ask you to help us subdue him."

"Okay, I understand. I'll be there soon."

The scientist bowed and ran out of the office.

"Grayfia, go to the human world and bring Rias to the lab."

"Okay." Grayfia used a seal to teleport to Issei's room. Rias was tossing and turning on her bed. "Rias-sama, wake up."

"Grayfia? What are you doing here?"

"Sirzechs-sama asked you to come to the lab where your pawn is being held."

"Issei? But why?"

"The boy woke up from the spell and started to riot in the lab."

"Woke up? But how?"

"I don't know, so please follow me."

"Okay, just let me get dressed."

Rias and Grayfia soon moved to the lab. What they saw horrified the girls. The rather large hall in which Issei was located was destroyed and burned.

In some places, the scorched metal was smoldering. In the middle of all this hell stood a red, enraged dragon. The dragon's slightly open mouth exuded black flames. A dull, guttural roar was heard.

Sirzechs stood on the right side, several meters away, and protected the scientists with a barrier.

"Brother, what happened?"

"Rias. Can you calm your servant down?"

For a second, the red dragon twitched and began to turn around on the spot. Every step in the room was accompanied by a rumble. Directing his gaze towards the scarlet-haired girl, Hyoudou froze in place. The emerald eyes went out completely for a couple of seconds, after which they flared up with renewed vigor.

Grayfia stood in front of Rias and used a barrier. "Rias-sama, get back."

The dragon disappeared, and the next moment, Grayfia's barrier was destroyed, and pure horror was read in the silver-haired girl's eyes. A few centimeters from her face was the dragon's muzzle. A couple of seconds later, the girl stepped aside, allowing the dragon to see the scarlet-haired girl. Rias stood motionless.

"Rias" Sirzechs was about to head towards his sister, but the girl cut him off.

"Stop! Don't come here."

"But…"

'He won't hurt me."

"How do you know?"

"I feel it." The dragon slowly brought his face closer to the girl and examined her with his emerald eyes. Issei raised his paw and lightly touched the skin. Rias touched the metal with her hands in response. It was warm.

"Issei, it's okay. I'm here."

The dragon removed his paw from Rias's face and lay down on his stomach with his paws tucked in. The girl sat down on the floor and patted her knees, inviting Issei. The dragon laid his head on her soft knees.

"Rias?"

"It's fine. While Issei is calm, get busy with the reconstruction."

"Okay." Sirzechs began to reconstruct the room with magic. When everything was finished, the demon lord approached those sitting on the floor. "Rias?"

"Brother, can I ask you something?"

"What is it?"

"Please don't tie him up."

"But how are we supposed to restrain him then?"

"I'll handle this myself."

"Okay." Sirzechs consented.

Rias stood up from the floor under the dragon's gaze. "Issei, can you sit quietly while my brother studies what happened to you?"

The dragon released a wave of warm steam.

"So you agree? Good. Then I will return to Kuoh and come again tomorrow."

This time, the dragon released cold steam, indicating its disagreement. "What? But I need to keep an eye on the others. They will start worrying if I am not home in the morning."

However, the dragon still did not agree and announced this with frosty steam.

"Well, what should I do with you? Then let me at least call everyone else here and stay with you until the morning."

The dragon approved this decision, after which Rias said goodbye to her brother, moved to Issei's house in Kuoh, woke everyone up collected her things, and moved back.

The girls immediately rushed to Issei with hugs, which caused a rather strange reaction in him. The dragon stepped back, looking at the people unfamiliar to him at the moment.

"Issei-senpai, what happened?"

"Issei-san, don't you remember us?" the golden-haired blonde looked at the dragon with her arms folded in a praying gesture.

"Doesn't he remember us, Rias?" Akeno asked, looking bewildered.

"That's strange. He remembers me." The princess of destruction approached the dragon and touched his muzzle. The dragon did not resist at all, only looking at Rias's face with emerald eyes.

"Brother, can you change this room?"

"I can, but why?" Rias explained to her brother the reason behind changing the room, after which the lord changed the room, creating two decent-sized rooms in one of the corners.

Four beds were placed in the first room, and one bed and a large futon in the second. After the things were put in their places, the girls changed their clothes and lay down to get ready for bed, while discussing the whole situation.

However, the conversation was interrupted by a dragon who entered the room with a stomp. After looking at those in the room for a couple of seconds, Hyoudou picked up Rias and went to his futon.

"Issei! What's wrong?"

But the dragon didn't react and settled down on the futon and curled up into a ball, laying Rias in the middle of this ball. The girl looked at the emerald eyes that were looking into the void for a few seconds. Smiling, Rias lay down more comfortably and fell into a peaceful sleep.
