Bro, I'm not an Undead!

Chapter 1481: The War Body (8)

Limitless Paradox was an impossible ability.

It was a Seed of the Fruit of World Myths that allowed the user to perform a single action infinitely within a single second. It was impossible, but also… possible.

Festos (possessed by Fulgardt's WILLS) he had used Limited Paradox in his battle with Replicus, pairing it with his trick – the unlimited sword slash. The combination allowed him to rip apart Aigas, Rules and all until only Stagnant Space and the great void could be seen.

And thus, this was why the Nullinity's Herald had found it ironic that Nunax's mind-boggling move earlier, was to conjure a nigh uncountable number of clones… when he had a perfect counter: the ability to parry and slash away all of their attacks using Limited Paradox activated through the Aggregate Inclination Retainer.

Skullius was using the same ability right now to stop the particles. It paired very well with his astounding abilities when using weaponry.

Indeed, Future Skullius had gone on to refine his ability with a select few weapons, which was why he was still able to cut things that shouldn't be cut, and do so at a distance if he pleased.

The wakizashi, bow, and gladius combination was very carefully selected. The Sovereign of Refined Anarchy had sharpened his skill with each, even though all three didn't have special magical properties beyond being made out of his own four-dimensional bones.

For the First Phase of the War Body, it was a perfect blend for his attacks. He could stall if he wanted, and he could kill he desired it.

Right now, he wanted to stall and take the least risky approach to taking down Nunax. That was the whole point of activating the War Body and not finishing things in his Default form; the latter came with the risk of completely exhausting or lending him to harm when he had things to take care of after all this.

Besides that, the subjugation ritual didn't actually demand that he kill Nunax.

Shiiiiing! Chiiii!

Particle after particle was split and crushed.

The hands of the Nullinity's Herald were not even a blur to seasoned eyes. His focus was sharper than edge of his wakizashi; at least the focus being processed by the Aggregate Inclination Retainer through his Ju`wtte to sharpen his movements.

But as successful as Skullius was in cutting apart the particles, they weren't destroyed, he knew. They couldn't be destroyed.

They were being converted to energy. The slightest of brilliant sparks shimmered when his blades came into contact with the particles, and he felt the throngs of energy swim through space… or perhaps something deeper than space, and rush back to Nunax.

The Corrupted Deity was pleased with herself.

The energy returning to her was causing a thick, blanket of luminance to accumulate around her. Skullius assumed it was some kind of shield. Nunax was keeping him busy while simultaneously completing some impressive defence against the one thing she was most anxious about: Skullius' arrows.

It was a clever move, really.

Skullius wielding a bow and two swords in this form because it was the perfect strategy for attacking at long, mid and short range simultaneously, especially with his profound skill.

But while applying Limited Paradox on one action, he couldn't perform another different, swift action. That was why Skullius didn't send, say, an arrow Nunax's way while clashing with the miniscule particles.

'There doesn't seem to be an end to these. Eventually, after a second is up, I'll be forced to stop Limitless Paradox and I will get hit for sure. That will be fatal. And besides, this sockethole is going to start attacking me herself. She's gathering energy for more than just defense,' Skullius thought with a sigh. It was difficult fighting someone who was approaching the |Greater Cosmic Law|.

Nunax was definitely someone of that level. He was sure of it now. The strange particles she was creating convinced him.

He wondered when his younger self was going to figure out what the |Great Cosmic Law| was.

Sure, if he accessed his War Body, he'd see the spine, but would he know what it was – what it meant?

Unless he asked VOW, or Serenity outright told him, it wasn't likely that he would find out.

'Well, at this rate, I'll die before the three minutes are up. And I'm down to less than 20% of my energy reserves. If I use [Perfect Evil Veneration], I'll dry myself immediately and I probably won't be able to incapacitate Nunax for long.'

It was time for a risk.

Nunax's confidence was rising. It didn't matter how quickly Skullius fended off her attacks. In the end, the longer he was pinned by her projectiles, the stronger she got. While she could have empowered herself with the energy within the light particles without using them to attack Skullius first, that would have left her wide open. It took some time to transform that energy into the kind of light shield she was creating around herself now, after all.

Just a little longer and she would start using it to conjure weapons.

All she was needed was little more time.

…But she didn't get that.

The Sovereign of Refined Anarchy changed strategies.

In one fragment of an instant, he was using his wakizashi along with the gladius to clash with the particles, and in the next… the short, slashing sword was gone.

The gladius took on its load, whipping about faster to cover the slack.

Skullius' free hand shot forth… and caught one of the particles. Well, more like the particle, livid with energy was trapped somewhere between his index finger and thumb.

And then, the Nullinity's Herald finally showcased the powers of his Enlightened Ju`wtte. Bright and crackling, it slid out one of his white Ju`wtta, streamed down to his hand and then his fingers and struck the particle he had trapped.

…!!!

Nunax gaped.

The particle was altered in a manner she hadn't expected. Something that should have been impossible to see for most suddenly buzzed and then…

Fractions of a moment later, the particle in all its irregular, multi-coloured glory was engorged to the same size as the Aggregate Inclination Retainer by the Nullinity's Herald!

And then Nunax's grand plan for victory was rendered meaningless.
