Chapter 6
Wen Yusheng lowered his head to drink the porridge, but the tips of his ears turned red.
He wolfed down the porridge and watched Chen Yumo packing his things, hesitating to speak.
Chen Yumo took the empty lunchbox and handed it to someone outside. He walked back in, washed his hands, and sat on the sofa not far away.
“What do you want to say? Tell me.” He spoke.
“How do you know that I want to say something?” Wen Yusheng asked, surprised.
Chen Yumo lowered his head, organizing the documents on the table.
“My dear, your eyes are so obvious that it’s hard not to notice. Tell me.”
Wen Yusheng sat up, clutching the quilt.
“Um…can you please stop calling me ‘dear’? I always find it weird for an Alpha to be called that,” he mumbled.
Chen Yumo continued organizing his things, keeping his head down so his expression remained hidden. After a long pause, he sighed.
“Okay, I promise you, from now on… I won’t call you ‘dear’ anymore. I’ll just call you Yusheng, okay?”
“Sure,” Wen Yusheng said with relief.
“And besides…” Chen Yumo trailed off, setting aside what he was doing. He sat on the sofa and looked at Wen Yusheng with dark, focused eyes.
“If there’s anything else, let’s talk about it.”
“One last thing,” Wen Yusheng began. “Can you be more…normal when you talk to me in the future?”
Chen Yumo seemed both amused and exasperated, the helplessness in his eyes evident. “Normal?”
“Yes,” Wen Yusheng confirmed. “Don’t talk to me like I’m a child. I’m an adult, not to mention a high-level Alpha, not a delicate Omega. You don’t have to treat me like a porcelain doll.”
Chen Yumo’s expression grew serious. “Is this really what you want to say?”
“Yes, from the bottom of my heart,” Wen Yusheng replied earnestly.
“Okay, I will respect your request,” Chen Yumo said, nodding.
He started packing his things again, but then his phone on the table lit up. Just as Wen Yusheng was about to get up and take a look, Chen Yumo quickly stepped forward, picked up the phone, and walked outside.
“Dad,” Chen Yumo answered the call.
“Yumo, how is Yusheng?” his father asked.
“He’s fine, doing okay,” Chen Yumo replied.
“Oh, that’s good. By the way, why don’t you send Niangao to the old house for a few days? Dad’s worried you might be too tired.”
“It’s okay. Little Niangao is afraid of strangers. Besides, you and Mom don’t know how to take care of him properly. He’s better off staying with me,” Chen Yumo explained.
“Alright then. Dad just wants you to be happy. Son, if you’re feeling really tired, wouldn’t it be a relief to let go…”
“Dad, how could you say that…”
“Hahaha,” his father chuckled. “Your mom forced me to act as a lobbyist. Don’t take it to heart, okay? Just remember to let us know if you need anything. No matter what happens, remember, your mom and I are always here for you. Don’t carry it all by yourself.”
“Mm,” Chen Yumo murmured, his voice trembling slightly as he leaned against the threshold, the corners of his eyes red.
“Comrade Chen, why did you switch to the soft approach?” he asked, trying to lighten the mood.
“Hahaha, you caught me! Alright, get some rest for a few days. Don’t worry about the company. Your mom and I can handle it. Focus on taking care of your wife and my little grandson. That’ll make me happy.”
“I know, Dad. You didn’t need to say you feel sorry for your son,” Chen Yumo said with a faint smile.
“Hahaha, of course. But remember, you need to take care of yourself first. Sure, I tried to stop you from getting married before, but now that you’re married, this is your life. As long as you’re happy, your mom and I will do everything we can to support you.”
“Thank you, Dad. You and Mom take care of yourselves too,” Chen Yumo replied sincerely.
“Of course, we will. I still want to see my little grandson! Okay, I’ll hang up now. Your mom is here eavesdropping!”
