Chapter 5
Wen Yusheng hadn’t thought much of it at first, but when little Niangao started vomiting milk, he realized something was wrong.
The little guy sat on his small bed, spitting out milk while clutching his tiny fists and crying hard. Chen Yumo gently patted his back, his movements careful, afraid the little one might choke.
When the vomiting finally stopped, Chen Yumo took out a tissue and wiped little Niangao’s face and neck clean. Without saying a word, he removed the little guy’s clothes, carried him to the bathroom, gave him a warm bath, and dressed him in a pair of green dinosaur pyjamas.
Throughout it all, Chen Yumo remained silent, his attention entirely focused on the task at hand.
Little Niangao was placed on another small bed. He laid there quietly, watching his father finished tidying up. When everything was done, the tiny hands reached out, grabbing one of Chen Yumo’s fingers.
“Da da~ So Rri~ Soo Rr rry~” Little Niangao babbled softly, apologizing in his own way.
Chen Yumo gently picked him up and smiled. “I don’t blame you. Dad knows you’re feeling uncomfortable too. Our little Niangao is already very well-behaved.”
Such a calm and composed man!
At that moment, Wen Yusheng couldn’t help but admire him. If it had been him, he would have probably panicked and fallen apart.
He was so gentle, Wen Yusheng thought. No wonder he had a wife and child.
After throwing up the milk, little Niangao quickly fell asleep.
Chen Yumo picked up his phone, walked to the window, and stared outside. “Zhang Zhu, go get me a set of clothes from home and bring them here.”
Whatever the person on the other end said seemed to make Chen Yumo glance briefly in Wen Yusheng’s direction.
Panicked, Wen Yusheng quickly buried his head under the quilt, pretending to be asleep.
“Tear it off! Make sure not to leave any traces,” Chen Yumo said into the phone.
“Mm.”
After a while, there was a knock at the door. Chen Yumo returned with the clothes and, without hesitation, began changing right in front of Wen Yusheng.
‘We’re just two grown men, right? There’s no need to avoid suspicion,’ Wen Yusheng reasoned with himself.
Even so, he couldn’t help but peek, blushing sheepishly. ‘Well, he’s good-looking. Broad shoulders, narrow hips… Look at those muscles and that figure. Not bad, not bad.’
But then confusion set in. ‘Why do I even like this kind of person?’ Wen Yusheng wondered. ‘No matter how handsome he is, isn’t a soft and sweet omega better?’
‘Did I have some sort of mental disorder before? Or could it be that losing my memory changed my preferences?’
‘But I liked sweet omegas before too… Something about all of this feels off, but I can’t figure out what.’
Breaking the silence, Chen Yumo spoke without looking up. “Niangao is a premature baby. He was born at seven months, so his development has been slow. He’s two years old now but still vomits milk often. Normally, he’d be eating solid foods by now, but he has a fragile stomach. I’ve tried introducing complementary foods several times, but it always results in him vomiting. He’s also not suitable for rough play or being carried around too much. I apologize for what happened this afternoon.”
It took Wen Yusheng a moment to realize that Chen Yumo was apologizing.
“It’s okay. I didn’t know,” Wen Yusheng replied awkwardly. “Besides, you’ve worked so hard. I don’t mind.”
“Mm.”
Chen Yumo nodded slightly and returned to his work on the computer.
Wen Yusheng, left with nothing to do, spent his time staring at little Niangao sleeping peacefully on the small bed.
A knock on the door broke the silence.
Chen Yumo set aside his work, opened the door, and brought in a lunch box.
“Eat something first,” he said, setting the box down. “I’ve already spoken with the doctor. You’ll need to eat light for the next few days, but you still have to eat. This is porridge from the shop you like to visit. Drink some to settle your stomach until you’re discharged from the hospital. Then we’ll figure out something else.”
