Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel

Chapter 634: -92- Are you the "Savior"?!

Following the legion of humans and half-elves southbound, Charlotte arrived at the capital mansion of the Free City-State, the City of Dawn, after a day and night's journey.

The City of Dawn was situated on a plain, surrounded by rivers on all sides, giving Charlotte an intense sense of déjà vu.

As the mighty troop neared the city, which combined elven and human styles, and saw the towering spires within the city, Charlotte could hardly contain herself.

She was very familiar with those towers; she had even entered them before. They were from the Royal Library of Lutecia in the Royal Capital of New Moon in the afterlife...

However, compared to the Royal Library of the afterlife, the towers at this moment did not look old and worn. They didn't bear the slightest trace of the ravages of time, and their magic inscriptions and various decorations were clearly visible even from a great distance.

Combining the very similar geographical environment of the City of Dawn with that of Lutecia—including being surrounded by similar rivers and located on a plain—Charlotte quickly confirmed that this city was indeed the future Royal Capital of New Moon!

Indeed, as one of the ancient cities with a long history in Mireya, Lutecia had existed two to three thousand years ago!

Of course, unlike the Royal Capital of Lutecia in the afterlife, the current city did not have a grand wall of defense but rather, simple stockades.

The scale of the city was small, possibly not even comparable to the Silver Mining City in the Castel Domain. At a glance, the size of the city might not even amount to a tenth of the afterlife's Royal City.

The portion of the city that could accurately be called "urban" was, upon a distant look, only the core area centered around the tower, which featured typical elf-style architecture.

As for the surroundings, they were filled with humbler human constructions, which rather than calling a city, seemed more like a cluster of villages gathered together, resembling the Giant Mountain Tribe Charlotte had seen during her first "crossing," only larger in scale, with a more populous and somewhat more diverse set of buildings.

However, one would be gravely mistaken to think this city was defenseless.

Charlotte sensed from within the city a colossal surge of magic power radiating from that high elven spire, clearly some sort of large-scale defense magic, potentially quite powerful.

Not only that, but Charlotte even felt within that magic something akin to divine power, likely also a type of solidified Divine Arts with defensive properties.

This divine art was not currently activated, but it was obviously in a state that could be triggered at any moment, clearly another special form of protection.

Charlotte's heart stirred subtly, and without changing expression, she invoked her Blood Divine Power, intensifying her investigation, and soon faintly sensed that there seemed to be a considerable source of energy in the direction of the tower.

That energy source was the center of the divine power aura she had detected.

Although it had not unleashed any power, with the keen perception enhanced by her Blood Divine Power, Charlotte was surprised to find that the strength of the energy source even surpassed the strength of her True Ancestor Liberation.

'It must be some kind of Divine Artifact that can cast defense magic, and probably one that can threaten gods. Such a thing... must be, like the tower, left behind by the elves,' Charlotte quickly surmised.

The Free City-State "lacked" a god, and to still exist under the attack of forces supported by other gods, or even possibly directly entering the fray, it must possess a trump card capable of contending with gods.

At the very least... it was a trump card that could threaten gods, making the mythical powers hesitant to act rashly.

With this realization, Charlotte also understood why Legion Commander Badak had no concerns about her visiting the City of Dawn.

On one hand, she had shown goodwill, and on the other hand, it probably had to do with the power hidden within the tower that she had sensed.

"Lord Cain, this is our capital mansion of the Free City-State, the City of Dawn. Our Free City-State currently encompasses four cities and eleven tribes, with a total population exceeding two hundred thousand, and the City of Dawn alone surpasses seventy thousand, making it the largest city in the Northern Border!"

The voice of Group Leader Badak interrupted Charlotte's thoughts.

His voice was full of pride, clearly taking great pride in being part of the Free City-State.

Charlotte nodded slightly and praised with a smile, First sееn оn МV4LЕМР|YR.

"Indeed, it is a bustling city."

Unlike the considerable population size of the later era, the population of this age was clearly minimal. On her journey, Charlotte had mostly seen desolate forests and grasslands, with very few farmlands. Even the occasional settlements were quite small, and most could not even be deemed tribes.

Regardless of how modest it may seem compared to the cities of later generations, based on what she had witnessed along the journey of a day and night, the city before her indeed qualified as a great city.

And if she just looked at the elven buildings within the city, it felt even more exceptional.

Compared to the exquisite and grand elven architecture, the humans' own constructions looked like primitive thatched huts assembled by primitive people; the disparity in the advancement and primitiveness of civilizations was clear to see.

This was normal, for according to the history Charlotte knew, the human civilization on Mireya Continent was indeed very ignorant before the elves set foot on it.

As an analogy, the cultural gap between the two was akin to Europeans during the Age of Exploration on Blue Star who had set foot on the New World compared to the local indigenous people.

In fact, it was still so even in the later era.
