Chapter 20: BUTZ: Chapter 20
Following the last detected trace of the Bakudō, Kyōraku Callum used Shunpo to reach the area, his expression focused, constantly scanning his surroundings.
A few minutes later, Kyōraku Callum's eyebrows rose slightly as he detected something unusual.
"The reishi concentration in this area is significantly higher than elsewhere in Karakura Town," he murmured.
Although Karakura Town possessed a high-reishi area with a one-kilometer radius, this specific area was clearly anomalous. "And the Bakudō's final trace is just ahead."
Meanwhile, at the Urahara Shop...
A man wearing a green haori and a green and white striped fisherman's hat, with some stubble on his chin, stood in the courtyard. His brow was furrowed, a thoughtful expression in his eyes.
At that moment, a burly middle-aged man wearing reflective glasses entered from outside the shop.
"Shopkeeper, all the Hollows outside have been dealt with," the man reported. "Why were there suddenly so many Hollows today?"
Urahara Kisuke looked up, his gaze sharp and penetrating.
"Someone's using them," he stated, his sharp mind quickly piecing together the situation. "Any unusual activity from the Seireitei today?"
Tessai Tsukabishi, after a moment of thought, replied, "Shinigami Academy students are conducting Soul Burial tests in Karakura Town."
Kyōraku Callum continued deeper into the area, his suspicions solidifying.
"High-level Kidō barrier," he murmured, detecting the anomaly in the ambient reishi.
Before he could investigate further, he sensed a spiritual pressure emanating from a nearby rooftop.
Glancing to his side, he saw a figure wielding a cane. The figure matched his mental image of Urahara Shopkeeper. The immense spiritual pressure confirmed his identity.
"Oh my, an intern who can actually find this place," Urahara Kisuke said, his tone light, his expression calm. "What brings you here?"
Kyōraku Callum smiled.
"I require Mr. Urahara's assistance."
This was unexpected for Urahara Kisuke. He leaped down from the rooftop, approaching Kyōraku Callum and carefully observing the young man.
"A Kyōraku family crest?" A hint of puzzlement flickered in his olive-green eyes. He hadn't expected this academy intern to be a member of the high-ranking nobility.
Kyōraku Callum offered a modest smile.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Kyōraku Callum, a second-year student at the academy."
This caused Urahara Kisuke's surprise to grow even more evident.
"A second-year student participating in the Soul Burial test? Remarkable!" Urahara Kisuke subtly adjusted his fisherman's hat, his eyes now slightly narrowed.
"So, Kyōraku Callum, you went to all this trouble to find me... to curry favor with the Seireitei?"
Kyōraku Callum paused, then smoothly replied,
"Mr. Urahara, you jest. I came seeking your assistance."
Urahara Kisuke wasn't easily convinced by such simple words. He remained highly wary of this unfamiliar intern.
If not for the young man's status, he might have already eliminated him. The disappearance of a high-ranking noble, particularly during a Soul Burial test, was a serious matter.
"To demonstrate my sincerity," Kyōraku Callum said, seemingly anticipating this reaction, "I can offer information regarding Aizen Sousuke."
The name held a certain weight. The moment Kyōraku Callum spoke it, Urahara Kisuke's smile vanished, replaced by a serious expression. He pulled his hat lower, concealing his eyes.
"It seems you know more than I anticipated."
Kyōraku Callum took a step forward, unleashing his Captain-level spiritual pressure without reservation.
The immense pressure filled the space. Urahara Kisuke's eyes widened in surprise. One unexpected event after another was making him feel like reality was slipping from his grasp.
The spiritual pressure quickly dissipated; Kyōraku Callum merely wanted to demonstrate his strength to prevent any rash actions from Urahara Kisuke.
"Mr. Urahara, shall we discuss this over a seat?" Kyōraku Callum asked, regaining his calm composure.
A thoughtful expression crossed Urahara Kisuke's face, before he offered a friendly smile.
"My apologies. Please, come in."
Kyōraku Callum followed Urahara Kisuke. As they neared the shop, Urahara Kisuke drew the Zanpakutō concealed within his cane.
Shink!
The clear sound of the blade being drawn echoed. Urahara Kisuke, gripping his Benihime, touched the Kidō barrier.
Passing through the barrier, Kyōraku Callum finally entered the Urahara Shop. Tessai Tsukabishi stood guard, watching the young man intently, seemingly ready to unleash Kidō at any moment.
