Chapter 186: Chapter 186: The Kazekage Unleashed
He sought to mold the era as he pleased, to unleash a storm capable of reshaping the world with every passing whim, and to puppeteer the Five Kage while rewriting the very laws of war itself.
A true maestro of chaos—a horrifying yet mesmerizing personification of violence in the ninja world.
Even Orochimaru would bow low and plead to learn from him.
Madara believed he was strong enough to control this deranged genius, but he was wrong. He thought brute force could suppress Kabuto, but he was wrong again—Kabuto held his ultimate trump card.
If Madara made a reckless move before Kabuto's final plan fully unfolded, he would not hesitate to play his final card—one capable of unraveling everything.
Because after that… well, the masked villain could do whatever he pleased. Nothing would hold meaning anymore.
Kabuto would plunge him—and the entire ninja world—into total deadlock.
Because he had uncovered answers to every question—even those he hadn't known to ask.
The northeastern battlefield of this Great Ninja World War would become his testing ground for his new power—a grand stage upon which to showcase his brilliance.
Just like everything he'd done throughout his career, no one would realize he was the mastermind until it was already too late. And that was exactly what Kabuto enjoyed.
For beyond the glory of combat lies absolute and decisive victory. There's no need for bravery—only cunning and the ability to get the job done.

Deep beneath Sunagakure, there were countless hidden chambers. Originally built as shelters for villagers escaping invasion, these subterranean sanctuaries now housed most of the Genin.
Only the most skilled ninja volunteered to remain in several safehouses scattered along the village's perimeter, enduring the raging storm while monitoring enemy movements and doing everything they could to protect the village.
The sandstorm above ground was brutal—intense enough to tear human skin and destroy any flimsy tents.
Which is why all buildings in Sunagakure were made of durable materials, since the village endured two unpredictable, violent sandstorms nearly every month.
Over time, this evolved into a natural defensive barrier—part of the reason this desert region was chosen as the village's location in the first place. It was nearly impossible to invade.
Right now, the enemies hiding in the Land of Wind's desert faced hellish conditions.
Protected by the dome-like buildings and natural valley barriers, Sunagakure villagers remained unaffected by the harsh weather. But beyond the village walls, in the open desert, there was no shelter at all.
Yet this situation also forced the enemy into action.
Remaining inside the storm only increased casualties and consumed vital supplies. Since Sunagakure was already prepared for invasion, prolonging their wait only worked against them.
The attacking forces came from three villages: Iwagakure, Kusagakure, and Amegakure.
Though outnumbered compared to today's opponents, their combined forces still made up a formidable army.
This was primarily because Amegakure's population rivaled those of the Five Great Ninja Villages combined.
Their total troop count was close to eight thousand, with two thousand coming from Kusagakure and Iwagakure, while the rest were all from Amegakure, making them the driving force behind this operation.
Compared to the highly motivated Amegakure shinobi, the ninja from Kusagakure and Iwagakure seemed somewhat low in morale.
To many of the Amegakure shinobi, it felt like they had been waiting for this moment forever.
Over the past decades, they had watched helplessly as their families were killed one by one in wars between the Five Great Ninja Villages, with those powerful nations never caring about their suffering.
But their God would not let them lose this fight.
Many of them carried sturdy umbrellas as weapons, using them as shields to block gusting winds and flying sand. Wearing breathing masks over their faces, they marched forward firmly.
Despite the storm, many poorly-prepared ninja sustained injuries, yet their confidence remained unshaken.
"Comrades!" An elite Amegakure ninja shouted, pointing toward Sunagakure's direction. Through the swirling dust, the massive domed structures of Sunagakure were barely visible. "Our enemy is right there! Our mission isn't complete yet! The God of our new world commands us to personally destroy the Five Great Ninja Villages and build a brand-new world ourselves! When this storm ends, everything will finally settle!"
The noise and confident battle cries from the Amegakure forces ignited enthusiasm among the others. Within minutes, the entire army stood ready to move out. Had it not been for the roaring desert winds drowning out their voices, their shouts surely would have reached inside Sunagakure.
In reality though, no one within Sunagakure's walls heard the distant battle cries.
Except for that enormous "Heavenly Eye," suspended high above the village. Far up in the air, it silently watched over everything below through the storm, observing the approaching invaders with its wide-angle vision.

An army was about to descend upon the city, and they were about to learn they had picked the wrong enemy. Sunagakure would not go down easily.
Gaara needed to time his strike carefully. He had only one chance to seriously weaken the enemy. Once the battle began, it would become difficult to eliminate so many enemies all at once.
They would scatter and become much harder to strike. This would force Sunagakure into street fighting against the enemy, although Gaara had already prepared personnel for such situations.
Therefore, in Gaara's quiet wartime command center, he sat calmly with one eye closed, maintaining focus in his role as overall commander.
Using both his unique sand-based sensory ability and his Third Eye—which provided a panoramic battlefield view even amidst the storm—Gaara maintained full control of the situation.
Though not officially Kazekage at the moment, Gaara was still the best commander for this battle.
"Have Kankuro and Chiyo positioned the close-range combat squad?" Gaara turned his head to ask the only other person present in the safehouse—his mentor Baki. "I believe now is the perfect timing to severely damage the enemy forces. By the time they realize what's happening, we'll hit them with a devastating blow."
Baki nodded in response:
"Lord Kazekage, they've been in position for two hours and are ready to engage at a moment's notice."
Temari has already positioned the long-range forces, and Pakura has deployed the Konoha ninja. We are all waiting for your command."
Gaara nodded, then turned to one of his most trusted advisors. "Teacher Baki… what do you think? Was I right to do this?"
"We have no choice but to surrender, Gaara," said Baki with a faint bitter smile. Gaara frowned at the very thought of surrendering. "You know what will happen if we give up. Even if you're willing to sacrifice yourself to protect the village by handing over One-Tail to Amegakure, they won't let us go."
Gaara knew all too well the hatred their enemies bore toward Sunagakure. Their desire was not just for victory—it was for blood.
Through the Third Eye, suspended high above the village, Gaara clearly saw his first target—those enemy ninja who had already stopped and were now waiting for the others to take position.
Gaara gave a slight shrug, then focused once again on [Controlling the Sand]. Everything was ready. All that remained was the signal.
"What a shame," Gaara murmured under his breath. To be honest, he still felt anger inside over what Pain had done to Sunagakure more than a month ago. Though it may seem dishonorable, he would soon unleash that wrath upon them. "You know how much I despise unnecessary violence," he said as he began forming hand seals.
Had Gaara said those words five years ago, they would have been laughed at openly. In fact, even saying them now was just as laughable… assuming anyone was in the mood for humor.
"Remember, should I personally enter the battlefield, this place will be in your hands, Baki."
