Chapter 23: 23: The Female Lead
It wasn't an unfamiliar sight.
For Eden who had read the book, it was rather familiar.
It was the exact scene of Helen's arrival at the banquet. Where she waited a while for Elvis who came through the entrance and personally took her in.
Helene was now down and waiting for Elvis. She looked pretty indeed. Typical female leads of these book who for some reason has more aura than the other female characters.
It always had to be them. And Eden could already feel the aura from a distance. The female lead aura.
But as Eden stared at Helen, all Eden could think about was stopping her from meeting Elvis first tonight.
That was the new plan he had come up with. He'll use her to get to Elvis.
"Sorry Mr or Miss Author, but I have to do whatever I can to survive" He mumbled as he made his way up to Helen.
"Excuse me lady...."
Helen looked in his way, confused.
"You're Helen right?"
"Yes I am..." Helen was looking more confused.
Eden smiled "Don't worry. I'm not a bad person and I'm not here to kidnap you" Eden said with his veil still on.
Of course everyone would be cautious of him.
"I was sent by Crown Prince Elvis to bring you in" He explained.
She was still looking confused.
"Don't mind the veil. I have some sort of rash so..." Eden explained.
"Oh I'm so sorry for that" Helen said, sympathetically. She was always like that. Kind.
"No problem. And like I said, I was really sent by the Crown prince. He was the one who brought you here after all..."
Helen was sadly gullible. And that was one thing Eden hated about the character. And now he guessed he was going to use that to get her.
He only had to explain to her how Elvis had actually convinced her to come. And she agreed. She didn't ask for any official plaques or whatsoever.
Lucky Eden.
Soon, Eden and Helen were making their way into the Ball room. Passing the entrance wasn't much of a hassle. Eden only snowed then The Grand marquis' plaque.
And soon they were both in.
Eden had his eyes on the environment for a while. Admiring the grandeur look of the banquet which he was experiencing in his life for the first time.
And soon after that, he turned to Helene. The poor girl stood alone at a distance. She obviously had no friends or whatsoever.
Eden felt bad for the poor girl and decided to strike some conversations with her. Asking her questions he already knew the answers to having read the book.
And he did so while being on the lookout for Elvis.
*******
Elvis stood beside his father and the second wife, along with some other royals.
They were in their usual discussions. Discussing royal issues while exchanging the latest royal gossip.
"The crown prince doesn't look so well. I hope all is well?" A lady had observed.
"He's fine" King Edward said "He just didn't get enough sleep while he was busy with the preparations and all"
"Is that so?" Another lady smiled amused.
"Yes. Our dear crown prince is always so hardworking. He never rests until he has gotten the job done. Even when I urge him to take a break, he never listens." The second wife pretentiously expressed.
"That's so admirable of him" A lady added.
Elvis wasn't paying attention to whatever they were discussing. His eyes were running around the room. He was anxious.
He was supposed to go out and get Helen, but he couldn't leave these nobles here. His father would surely make a scene if he did.
He could tell Helen was waiting for him outside. And he felt bad for keeping her waiting. But he couldn't come up with any ways of leaving here.
"So I heard about the upcoming marriage arrangements the king is making between the crown prince and the Emperor's daughter, The Imperial Princess" A duke pointed out.
King Edward chuckled softly "Well it hasn't been officially fixed. But we're working towards it. Since the imperial princess seems to like him so much and he also likes her. It would surely be cruel of us to keep them apart"
"It sure will. They would make a beautiful and powerful couple together. I can't wait for the official invitation to their wedding" A lady expressed.
Elvis wasn't even paying any attention to whatever they said. He still had his eyes running around.
"Oh speak of the angel. The Imperial Princess is here" A duchess had observed.
They all turned towards the direction of the Banquet room's entrance. Looking at the lady that was walking in.
All eyes were on the beautiful lady that had just walked into the banquet. Everyone had begun murmuring in amusement.
The Imperial Princess had stepped into the banquet in her company of knights and personal handmaid.
She looked elegant in the luxurious dress she was wearing. One that was emerald in colour. Richly made and decorated.
Anyone could tell she was of high status.
King Edward smiled as he nudged Elvis with his hands. "Let's go greet the Imperial Princess immediately"
The whole room was already showing their utmost respect and greetings to the Imperial Princess.
She didn't seem to care about their greetings as she walked past them, her eyes searching through the room.
"Your Imperial Highness. My apologies for my ignorance. I never knew you were actually coming" King Edward expressed as she approached her.
Mr Edward along with Elvis, the second Queen and other nobles made their way to the Imperial Princess.
And as they walked past the people, Elvis's eyes had finally fallen on Helen who was also staring at him.
They stared at each other for a while before Elvis walked past. Eden who stood there also stared at Elvis who didn't seem to notice him.
He had finally caught sight of him.
It was now about time he proceeded with his main plan for the night.
