Chapter 31-Azure Inferno
{You think you can take me down with such a paltry attack?!}
The giant shouted out as he pulverised the ice projectiles with ease, but it was precisely because he knew he could pulverize them with ease that Jamie sent them.
“Confidence is good and all, but overconfidence makes you miss out on the little details.”
{Huh?}
Just as the expression of surprise was appearing on the face of the giant, he suddenly felt a sharp pain on his chest and saw about a dozen ice spikes had pierced his skin.
‘How did…?’
**BOOOMM!!!
The ice spikes embedded in his skin suddenly exploded, bursting into shards of frost and sending their frigid energy permeating through the massive creature’s body.
A wave of chilling cold swept through his veins, threatening to freeze his flesh and everything underneath.
The giant quickly reacted, harnessing his energy and generating a surge of heat that enveloped his form, acting as a counterbalance against the numbing cold.
When he saw the next barrage of incoming ice spikes, he didn’t block with his fists and instead generated a barrier of magic power to defend.
But the ice spikes simply crashed onto the barrier like normal, exploding upon contact and leaving him at a loss on how they had been able to break his defences before.
‘The Legendary monsters are not much. Guess that’s why they concocted the plan to break the other dungeons and increase their numbers.
But from what I’ve seen, though the dungeon boss is not out yet, it will be soon. Gotta finish this guy quick.’
As soon as Jamie decided that, he switched his combat approach, flying out of the way to dodge the giant’s metal law energy-coated fists and spamming barrages of ice, fire and lightning spears.
The giant punched the empty air in front of him, creating shockwaves from the pressure of his fists which were sent flying towards Jamie and his projectiles.
The shockwaves blasted the projectiles to bits while missing Jamie’s form completely and blasting the high-rise buildings they hit to smithereens.
He created more shockwaves in quick succession and unleashed them towards Jamie who blitzed towards the city outskirts.
Despite knowing he was being led on, the giant didn’t care and ran after him, cratering the ground where his feet touched as he jumped over the gaping chasms his earlier attack had caused.
Jamie who was flying away suddenly turned around and pulled back his right arm with an open palm, generating a large bow of clear blue energy.
He then generated six large arrows, each one of a different element and launched them towards the incoming giant.
Seeing this, the giant struck forward with his fist, punching the first flame arrow with the intention to scatter its energy, but the arrow only split into six smaller arrows that continued streaking towards him with faster speed.
Instantly concluding all the other five arrows worked the same way, he changed his approach, breaking his run and sliding his leg in an arc in front of him.
The ground trembled slightly before breaking open and giving way to the emergence of a massive curved silver board-shaped construct.
It was slightly inclined towards the sky, and the instant that the remaining five arrows collided with it, that was where they were sent towards.
“Ohh…that’s nice.”
Giving a light comment about his opponent’s technique, the Hybrid accessed another spell from his arsenal and quickly formed the three-ringed magic circle.
A miniature vortex of wind manifested within his palms and began elongating to create a needle-shaped spear, but the giant blitzed in and grabbed the spear with an energy-coated arm, shattering it to pieces while his other three arms reached for Jamie’s figure.
The Hybrid remained undaunted slammed his hands together and made three more pairs of vortexes of flames appear, each one firing out needle-shaped spears of hot searing flames that crackled with tendrils of lightning around them.
The three hands reaching towards Jamie instantly changed course and moved to swat away the six spears, occupying the giant long enough for Jamie to fly out of the way.
He flew for a few hundred metres more before coming to a complete stop and yawning lightly while accessing the area around him.
{Done running?}
“Basically. I don’t run the risk of accidentally killing people here. So, I can focus on killing you properly.”
{Big wor-!!}
The giant could not even finish his attempt to taunt Jamie when he sensed magic building up, jumping back in the same instant and escaping the giant pillar of earth that erupted from the ground underneath his foot.
‘Flame Lance Barrage.’
An array of fiery spears manifested in the air, but unlike normal flames, these ones had a cool blue colour, giving them an almost hypnotic allure.
|Existential Record Detected.
‘Ultra-Rare Skill: Azure Inferno’
Status Skill Tab Updated. |
As Jamie activated one of his many skills which the system had not been able to detect, it noticed the skill and updated his status board accordingly.
The Hybrid didn’t pay this much mind as he sent the flame lance barrage forward, while the giant conjured barriers of earth elemental law energy as the blue colour of those flames and the skill activation he sensed beforehand gave him chills.
The volley of concentrated azure flames soared through the air whilst leaving scorching trails of fire in their wake, emitting a strange hum that made the giant’s senses feel off.
Space around the spears distorted ever so slightly and right at the moment they were about to collide with the giant’s barrier, the spears themselves distorted, allowing them to phase through the barrier with ease.
‘They phased through!’
The giant saw it clearly this time, his eyes widening as he quickly gave a low back step, uprooting a random building from the ground and tossing it in the direction of the incoming barrage.
However, the lances phased through it like they did his barrier, making the giant come to a pretty terrifying conclusion he wished was not true.
‘Those things might phase through everything until they hit me!’
He quickly harnessed the energy of the law of metal and encased his body in a dark silver sheen that mirrored his surroundings, a mere moment before the flame lance barrage struck his body with thunderous explosions.
Each impact rocked his massive frame and the reverberating shockwaves knocked him back and made his metallic exterior crack in various places.
Yet, he remained standing, his form injured, but intact.
But before he could even begin to prep a retaliation, Jamie’s voice rang out, and from a distance that was dangerously close to him.
“Frostfire Fusion + Sapphire Inferno.”
A concentrated sphere of azure flames hovering dangerously above Jamie’s palm was hurled forward right after the Hybrid shrunk the space between him and the giant.
With so little distance between them, the giant only had enough time to reinforce his metal transformation technique in a bid to withstand the power behind the incoming attack.
A streak of blue light shot through the air from Jamie’s arm and straight towards the chest of the giant.
What followed, was a blinding magnificent explosion that showered the area with shards of sapphire fire.
The deafening blast unleashed a torrent of mixed energies engulfing the giant’s body in a chaotic maelstrom of fire and ice.
