Being Overpowered in Akame ga Kill

Chapter 135: 135: Night Raid's Plan (Part 1)

While Haruki and the women were discussing the Path of Peace uprising, the members of Night Raid were also holding an emergency meeting.

"We just received word from headquarters. This time, the Revolutionary Army will join forces with the Path of Peace in their uprising. We've also made contact with foreign tribes from the western region to serve as our allies. I believe we have a real shot at toppling the Empire this time."

Seated at the head of the table, Najenda puffed on her cigarette as she spoke. Even she, usually calm and composed, couldn't hide the trace of excitement in her voice.

"Finally! We can bring down this corrupt and rotten Empire!"

"Yeah! Maybe kids like me, born of mixed blood, won't have to face discrimination anymore!"

"Those nobles who treat commoners' lives like dirt should've been punished long ago."

"Damn right!"

The moment Najenda spoke, the rest of Night Raid burst into animated discussion, voices overlapping as they each shared what this meant to them.

"Um, Boss... is it really okay for us to work with foreign tribes? I've heard those savages always burn, kill, and loot wherever they go. Won't the people suffer even more because of them?"

As the room buzzed with enthusiasm, Sheele—who had always been a little airheaded—raised her concern with surprising seriousness.

Najenda hesitated for a moment, then replied, "The foreign tribes are a powerful military force. If we want to bring down the Empire, we need their strength. Some losses... are unavoidable."

"Right, Boss—what exactly is Night Raid's role this time?"

Leone was the first to return to focus, turning to Najenda with a serious look.

The others quieted down and fixed their eyes on Najenda as well. For all they knew, this mission might be their last.

"Everyone, listen up. I'm assigning our mission for this uprising."

Seeing that her team could remain level-headed despite their excitement, Najenda gave a nod of approval before continuing.

"Let me first introduce the strongest enemies we may face.

"Security Minister Haruki and the women around him. Imperial General Esdeath. And Great General Budo."

She paused briefly before continuing.

"Great General Budo commands the Imperial Guard stationed in the capital. His forces are among the Empire's most elite. He's responsible for defending the palace, so we likely won't encounter him until the allied army reaches the capital. But don't underestimate him. On paper, Budo and Esdeath are recognized as the Empire's top two powerhouses. His strength is not to be taken lightly.

"As for Esdeath... you all know her. We haven't clashed head-on many times, but I can tell you now—I've never truly seen the extent of her power. In the early phase of the uprising, she'll be our biggest threat. Once the Empire mobilizes, Esdeath will be sent to crush us. Even if we win... it'll come at a heavy cost."
