Chapter 444: Chapter 444: The Black Ghost (Bonus Chapter 1)
A few days ago, Raizo, who had been hiding in Berlin, was attacked by a female assassin. After defeating her, he unexpectedly got into a fight with White Ghost, who appeared out of nowhere.
At first, Raizo thought White Ghost was an accomplice of the female assassin. However, as they fought, he realized that White Ghost wasn't going for the kill, so Raizo also held back. As the fight progressed, it became clear that they were evenly matched. Neither could decisively defeat the other without going all out, so their battle gradually became more intense. Eventually, both were wounded. It was then that White Ghost revealed that he was from Ozunu, and after withdrawing his weapon, he stared at Raizo with intense interest.
Pointing to Raizo's arm, which had been slashed but wasn't bleeding, White Ghost proposed that if Raizo taught him Ozunu's secret technique, he would take him to someone who could offer protection. After nearly a decade on the run, Raizo was naturally tired of his fugitive life.
As Raizo explained this, William shot a glance at White Ghost, knowing full well that his interest lay solely in Raizo's secret technique. Helping William find skilled fighters was just a bonus. "First question: Where is Ozunu's headquarters?"
"It's on an island in the Pacific, about 110 kilometers from the nearest country," Raizo answered, aware of White Ghost's plan to use missiles. "Although it's not in international waters, it doesn't belong to that country's territorial waters either."
"Good. Second question: What if I wipe out everyone at Ozunu's base? How would you feel about that?" William asked.
"Although I'd hope you'd be selective, I know there are very few like me. In the 12 years I spent on the island, I only saw two girls escape from Ozunu. So, if you ask my opinion," Raizo paused and then answered firmly, "I'd prefer a clean sweep—leave no loose ends."
"Good, very good. Third question: What do I gain by helping you? And don't tell me it's Ozunu's secret techniques—I'm not interested in that."
Raizo was surprised by William's disinterest. From his perspective, William would surely be as greedy for the techniques as White Ghost was. Hearing William dismiss them so casually made Raizo feel unexpectedly relieved. He answered seriously, "I will use everything I've learned to serve you, as long as it's not a suicide mission or involves killing innocent people."
"Excellent. Since White Ghost brought you here, your new codename will be Black Ghost. When I have a mission for you, I'll let you know. Otherwise, you're free to do as you please. Got it?"
"Understood. Thank you, my lord," Black Ghost said, bowing deeply to William.
"Good," William said, tossing him a phone. "Tell Sunday what kind of gear you need. Now, anything else, gentlemen?"
"Yes, Mr. Devonshire," White Ghost said, casting a disgruntled look at Raizo, still not pleased that William had so readily accepted Raizo's allegiance. White Ghost recalled how much effort he had put into earning William's trust, only for Raizo to be accepted so easily. He briefly regretted bringing Raizo to William, but the thought of learning Ozunu's secret techniques made him feel a little better.
"You asked me to monitor Yury Orlov. There's been some movement," White Ghost said.
"Speak," William prompted. "What exactly is Yury up to?"
"Yes, sir," White Ghost began. "You told me before that Yury Orlov's business operates mainly in Africa and desert regions. So, I started investigating whether he suffered any losses in those areas over the past few years, and I found something. A man named Amir Bakavi has been aggressively seizing the arms trade in Africa and desert regions in recent years.
Whenever Yury sells weapons to one side, Bakavi immediately supplies the opposition. However, two years ago, during Bakavi's daughter's wedding, his home in the desert was hit by a missile. His body was never found after the attack. Some say he's dead, but after a recent arms deal in North Africa, Mr. Orlov seems to have uncovered something. He now believes that Bakavi is still alive and is planning revenge for what happened two years ago."
"Revenge?" William said, surprised. "Are you saying Yury was involved in the missile strike two years ago?"
"Yes, sir. While I was in Berlin, I overheard Yury Orlov talking to someone who sounded like a general, warning them to be cautious because Bakavi might still be alive."
By this point, Sunday had already retrieved Bakavi's profile. After glancing at the information, William quickly pieced things together. It was clear that the generals behind Yury Orlov had used state resources to try to eliminate Bakavi, who was hurting their business. Unfortunately for them, Bakavi survived and had spent the last two years preparing for revenge from the shadows. But Bakavi made a critical mistake by targeting William.
"Alright, that's enough for now. Drop the Yury matter for the moment. Your new task is to go to the USA and keep an eye on the FBI's case review officer, David Maslow. I'll be feeding him some intel on Ozunu's crimes. Your job is to protect him in secret and eliminate any Ozunu agents sent to assassinate him. As for Ozunu's headquarters, I'll handle it. Lastly, take care of the London gang members and Bakavi's people who were tailing me today."
"Understood, sir."
After William left, both White Ghost and Black Ghost received notifications on their phones. When they opened the messages, they saw images of their new combat suits. The designs were impressive at first glance, and after reading the technical specifications, both men were thrilled.
The two suits, one white and one black, were form-fitting and could be worn under regular clothing without issue. Not only did they have temperature regulation, but they were also bulletproof, stab-resistant, and slash-proof. The soft hoods included with the suits could completely mask body heat, making them perfect for ninjas like White Ghost and Black Ghost.
After customizing their suits to fit their preferences, the two men received the packages the next morning at a hotel, delivered express from Oxford Castle.
After spending some time eliminating all the gang leaders and Bakavi's people in London, the two ghosts headed to a private airport and boarded a plane arranged by Sunday, bound for New York.
Meanwhile, in New York, FBI case review officer David Maslow had just arrived at his office when his assistant knocked on his door. "Sir, I just received an email from headquarters specifically addressed to you for review."
David Maslow nodded and opened his secure inbox. As he began reading the files, he asked, "There's no signature. Do you know which department head sent this?"
"Sorry, sir. You know some files are sent without signatures. I just received a paper confirmation. The email did come from headquarters."
"Alright, I understand. Get back to work," Maslow said, nodding. He knew this was another secret investigation from one of the higher-ups.
After reading through the information, Maslow felt both nervous and uncertain. Leaning back in his chair, he muttered to himself, "A thousand-year-old assassin organization? Ninjas?"
Just as he was about to call his superior to verify the information, a new email notification appeared in his inbox.
