Battle Through The Heavens : I Am The Thunder Emperor

Chapter 318: Chapter 318: Thunder Serpent Strike, Rescuing Uncle Snake

Chapter 318: Thunder Serpent Strike, Rescuing Uncle Snake

"Oh… to retrieve that soul body?"

Upon hearing Mo Yu's request, Mang Ting, the man in silver armor, didn't quite know who this "Uncle Snake" was, but he figured it had to be the soul trapped by the Soul Hall expert.

At this moment, Mo Yu looked at Mang Ting with hope in his eyes. From the man's attitude, Mo Yu could tell that the Thunder Clan's Black Devil Army didn't seem hostile towards him; in fact, they even appeared to respect him.

Mo Yu didn't understand why, and he wasn't sure if there was some hidden agenda, but at the moment, he had no other choice. He had to take a gamble. If Uncle Snake were captured by the Soul Hall, his fate would be truly miserable.

As Mo Yu stared at him, Mang Ting's gaze shifted to Mu Gu Elder. When he saw the soul, his eyebrows raised slightly.

"A Seven-Winged Golden Serpent Medusa?" Mang Ting thought, sensing Uncle Snake's bloodline. He was a little surprised, but the surprise quickly passed. While the bloodline of a Seven-Winged Golden Serpent wasn't weak and had the potential for sainthood, it still paled in comparison to the Thunder Clan's Emperor Bloodline. Unless it evolved into the more terrifying Nine-Winged Golden Serpent, the peak potential of a Seven-Winged Golden Serpent would likely cap at half-saint.

"Since it's a request from Young Master Mo Yu, Mang Ting won't refuse," Mang Ting said casually, nodding as if reclaiming the soul from Mu Gu Elder was a trivial matter.

Seeing this, Mu Gu Elder's face twitched slightly. The disdainful attitude of Mang Ting made his expression darken, but considering the power of the Black Devil Army, he had no choice but to swallow his anger. He forced a smile and said, "Hehe, this esteemed Thunder Clan warrior, I am from the Central Plains Soul Hall. This capture mission has the personal attention of our Hall Master. I'm sure you're aware that the Soul Hall has backing no less powerful than your Thunder Clan.

"If you would kindly give our Soul Hall a bit of face, I will personally report this to our Hall Master, and I'm sure he will visit the Thunder Clan to express our gratitude." Mu Gu Elder clasped his hands in a polite gesture, his eerie purple eyes flickering as he spoke with a light smile.

"Oh? You're from the Soul Hall?" Mang Ting smiled slightly. Just as Mu Gu Elder thought things were taking a turn for the better, he heard Mang Ting's voice turn cold: "Who cares about the Soul Hall? And what if I don't give you any face?"

Mang Ting's thunderous voice echoed across the sky, causing Mu Gu Elder's expression to become extremely gloomy. If anyone else had dared to insult the Soul Hall like this, he would have already skinned them alive. But standing before the Thunder Clan's Black Devil Army, Mu Gu Elder had no choice but to grit his teeth and stay silent.

"Mang Ting, this matter is of great importance and involves not only the Soul Hall but also the power behind it. I urge you to consider the bigger picture and avoid causing conflict between our two forces," Mu Gu Elder said, tightening his grip on the slumbering soul of Uncle Snake. He finally resorted to invoking the name of the Soul Clan, speaking with a firm tone.

"Hmph, you mean the power behind the Soul Hall— the Soul Clan, right?" Mang Ting's eyes narrowed. "The Soul Clan may be powerful, but they are not stronger than the Ancient Clan yet. When they become the top of the Eight Great Clans, then they can be arrogant!" Mang Ting sneered. Then, he turned to his squad and commanded, "Seize that soul body!"

As soon as Mang Ting gave the order, the ten Black Devil Army soldiers standing still on the black clouds instantly sprang into action. In a flash, their figures darted towards Mu Gu Elder, encircling him.

Seeing this sudden move, Han Feng, who was standing next to Mu Gu Elder, was startled. His eyes darted around, and he quickly distanced himself from Mu Gu Elder. He had no intention of getting caught up in the crossfire.

At the same time, both the Black Alliance and Yuan Manor factions watched in stunned silence as the battle erupted. Fearing they might get dragged into it, they quickly cleared the area to make space.

The members of the Black Alliance were puzzled by the mention of the Thunder Clan and the Soul Clan, but they understood these must be renowned powers from the Central Plains. They dared not interfere in such a battle, nor did they have the strength to.

Meanwhile, those from Yuan Manor were overjoyed that Mo Yu had managed to get these mysterious powerhouses on their side. In contrast, the Black Alliance members looked gloomy and dispirited. They had thought their victory was certain, but with the intervention of these mysterious warriors, the tide had completely turned.

It was like an endless game of reversal after reversal.

The leaders of the three major factions regretted their earlier decisions deeply. Seeing that Mo Yu had such a powerful backup, they felt a growing sense of remorse. The three exchanged uneasy glances, silently praying that Mo Yu hadn't noticed their earlier betrayal.

Back in the battlefield, the ten Black Devil soldiers moved swiftly, spreading out and encircling Mu Gu Elder.

Mu Gu Elder's face darkened. He had wanted to avoid a direct confrontation with the Black Devil Army, but now it seemed inevitable that they would take Uncle Snake from him.

Realizing there was no avoiding the fight, Mu Gu Elder gave up on trying to leave peacefully. With a wave of his dry hand, his aura surged, and thick black fog erupted from his body, spreading out to isolate the ten soldiers.

The ten soldiers merely smirked in disdain. Without a word, they rapidly formed hand seals. In an instant, ten massive pillars of lightning burst forth, converging above their heads and transforming into ten giant thunder serpents, coiling and roaring in the sky.

"Thunder Serpent Strike!"

With the soldiers' faces stern, the thunder serpents roared and plummeted from the sky. The thunderous rumble shook the heavens as the Black Devil soldiers, though not Dou Venerates but only five or six-star Dou Sects, unleashed a powerful combined attack. Their teamwork created an attack force strong enough to suppress Mu Gu Elder.

"Not good!"

Mu Gu Elder's expression changed dramatically. Though he had taken the Black Devil Army seriously, he hadn't expected ten Dou Sects working together to unleash such a devastating attack.

It truly lived up to the reputation of the Eight Great Clans!

With a grasp of his hand, Mu Gu Elder condensed the black fog surrounding him into a protective shield. Dark energy swirled around him, forming a barrier to withstand the incoming attack.

Silver light flashed in the sky as the ten massive thunder serpents, crackling with violent energy, crashed down onto Mu Gu Elder's shield.

"Boom!"

The impact sent waves of energy rippling outward, creating massive shockwaves that shattered the earth beneath, kicking up clouds of dust and debris across the vast plains.

"What a terrifying technique. So this is the power of that clan?" Su Qian muttered to himself, remembering his elusive dean. He was left awestruck by the sheer power on display.

The crowd below stared in shock, witnessing this rare battle between Dou Venerate-level experts. Their hearts pounded with both fear and excitement.

"Brother Mo Yu, do you know these people? They all have a strong, unique bloodline—much stronger than even the seventh-tier magical beasts in the inner academy's mountains," Zi Yan said, her big eyes fixed on Mo Yu, her brow slightly furrowed.

At the same time, both Cai Lin and Qing Lin looked at Mo Yu with curiosity. They, too, were intrigued by why the Thunder Clan's powerful warriors were treating Mo Yu with such respect.

"Uh… I'm not entirely sure myself. They might be interested in something I have," Mo Yu said, his voice deep and thoughtful.

After some quick reflection, he had a faint idea why the Thunder Clan had come looking for him. There were only two things about him that might attract their attention: either the rare Xuan Thunder, comparable to a Heavenly Flame, or the even rarer Heaven-Thunder Body, which was considered an unparalleled battle physique in the vast world.

Although he wasn't sure whether the Thunder Clan's attention was good or bad, he knew he had to take things one step at a time. At least for now, their arrival had solved one major problem for him. While Mu Gu Elder from the Soul Hall was troublesome, even the powerful Soul Hall would struggle against the might of the Thunder Clan.

As the dust began to settle from the clash, the black fog cleared, revealing Mu Gu Elder's figure once again. His black robe was now in tatters, barely covering his body. More importantly, his entire body looked charred and blackened, his skin crackling with residual electric currents. His aura had also weakened considerably.

Even as a Dou Venerate, Mu Gu Elder had clearly suffered under the onslaught of the ten thunder serpents.

"Cough… As expected from one of the Eight Great Clans. Truly powerful," Mu Gu Elder coughed, his body numb from the thunderous energy coursing through him. He looked warily at the ten Black Devil soldiers surrounding him.

If just ten ordinary Black Devil soldiers could injure him this badly, what would happen if the captain, Mang Ting, a Dou Venerate stronger than him, personally attacked?

Mu Gu Elder's desire to retreat grew stronger. While returning Uncle Snake's soul to the Soul Hall would earn him great merit, he needed to survive first. There was no point in dying here.

"The Soul Hall is nothing compared to this!" Mang Ting sneered at Mu Gu Elder, his lightning-filled eyes brimming with disdain.

Mu Gu Elder's lips twitched at the insult, and although he was furious, he lacked the power and courage to retaliate.

"Why would the Thunder Clan send a Black Devil Army squad to aid this silver-eyed boy?" Mu Gu Elder muttered to himself, his dark eyes flickering with curiosity.

Mang Ting's cold expression grew even more menacing as he glared at Mu Gu Elder. "There's a saying on the Dou Qi Continent: 'The more you know, the faster you die.' Do you want to die or live?" he growled, his voice filled with killing intent.

Mo Yu's bloodline was a tightly guarded secret of the Thunder Clan, known only to the highest-ranking members of the clan. Anyone who tried to dig into it was asking for death.

Mu Gu Elder flinched at the threatening tone. He glanced at Mo Yu once more, now realizing there was something about him that made the Thunder Clan place such importance on him. But this was clearly beyond his rank to investigate. Asking too many questions could lead to a quick death.

"My apologies for overstepping," Mu Gu Elder said with a forced smile. With a wave of his hand, he released Uncle Snake's soul to Mang Ting. At the same time, a distorted spatial ripple appeared beside him.

"I've given you the soul. However, I will report this to my Hall Master. The Soul Hall may not be as strong as the Thunder Clan, but we are not to be trifled with. The Soul Clan will not let this slide," Mu Gu Elder warned, his voice laced with anger. Without waiting for a response, he stepped into the distorted space.

But just before the space closed, a black mist shot out from Mu Gu Elder's body, enveloping Han Feng, who had been trying to sneak away. In an instant, Han Feng was dragged back toward Mu Gu Elder, his eyes wide with terror.

Having retrieved his payment—Han Feng and the Sea Heart Flame—Mu Gu Elder gave Mo Yu one last cold, lingering look before disappearing into the spatial tear.

Mang Ting didn't stop him. Though he was stronger than Mu Gu Elder, a fight between two Dou Venerates would only result in mutual destruction without a clear advantage.

As he held Uncle Snake's soul, Mang Ting frowned. The soul of the Seven-Winged Golden Serpent Medusa was severely weakened, its bloodline power almost entirely depleted. It seemed like Uncle Snake was on the brink of death.

"Thank you, Officer Mang Ting, for your help!"

Once Mu Gu Elder had left, Mo Yu and his companions quickly approached. Mo Yu glanced at the unconscious Uncle Snake in Mang Ting's hands, then turned to Mang Ting and bowed in gratitude.
