Chapter 124: Leveling Up and Returning Home

Yancheng, Mo Family Estate.

While Mo Yu's fame spread across the Jia Ma Empire with the fall of the Mo family, he had remained secluded in a quiet room within the Mo family estate for quite some time.

"Has Master been alright during these past few days of seclusion?"

Outside the room, Qing Lin, Mo Yu's maid, anxiously watched the closed door. It had been five days since Mo Yu had received the magic cores from the Ye family.

During these five days, aside from occasional sounds, there was no news from within the room, causing Qing Lin to worry.

As time passed slowly, the bored Qing Lin sat on a step, resting her delicate chin on her hand, staring blankly at the room.

Since becoming Mo Yu's personal maid, the young girl had been constantly concerned about him. Even though Mo Yu didn't require her service during his seclusion, Qing Lin dutifully remained at the door, guarding him.

She had maintained this posture for several days. Just when she thought today would be another long, anxious day of waiting, the tightly closed door finally creaked open.

The sound of the door made Qing Lin's eyes light up. She quickly stood up, excitement shining in her eyes as a young man in a green robe slowly walked out.

Sunlight bathed the young man, who, despite being in seclusion for several days, did not show the slightest sign of exhaustion. Instead, he looked full of energy, and a powerful aura, much stronger than before, began to emanate from him.

"Master, you're finally out!" Qing Lin exclaimed with a proud smile as she rushed forward, clearly pleased with the increased strength she sensed in Mo Yu.

Over the past few days, she had heard many rumors about Mo Yu. She felt incredibly proud to serve such a talented master.

"Yes, I'm out," Mo Yu said, gently patting Qing Lin's head with a smile as he looked at the girl who had been waiting for him.

Over the past few days, Mo Yu had used his Vermilion Bird Burning Sky Thunder to refine all the magic cores from the Mo family. This not only allowed his Vermilion Bird Burning Sky Thunder to rapidly grow in power, but it also caused a dramatic increase in his own strength.

A few days ago, he was only a three-star Dou Shi (Battle Master). Now, he had reached the peak of a six-star Dou Shi!

He was just one step away from becoming a seven-star Dou Shi.

Breaking through three stars in just a few days might seem unbelievable to the outside world, but for Mo Yu, it had become a reality.

Even Mo Yu couldn't help but feel a bit intoxicated by the power that surged within him.

However, he was aware that his rapid progress was due to draining the Mo family's resources, and opportunities like this wouldn't come often, even for the strongest family in the eastern region.

Despite breaking through three stars so quickly, Mo Yu didn't experience any instability in his Dou Qi, thanks to his innate Tian Gang Thunder Body. However, he also realized that his incomplete Tian Gang Thunder Body had probably reached its limit with this breakthrough. Pushing it further might do more harm than good.

As he sensed the immense power of his Dou Qi and considered the strength of his abilities, Mo Yu estimated that he could now hold his own against a Da Dou Shi (Battle Grandmaster) without relying on his soul power.

Of course, this was only against a one-star Da Dou Shi. Higher-ranked Da Dou Shi could still easily crush Mo Yu at his current level. Nevertheless, it was remarkable that he had grown so strong in just one year of adventuring.

"Let's go meet Elder Ye. Now that the matters in Yancheng are settled, it's time to leave," Mo Yu said, smiling as he ruffled Qing Lin's hair.

He hadn't forgotten his promise to Master Frank in Black Rock City. Now that the Mo family was destroyed and his strength had significantly increased, it was time to fulfill that promise.

Taking Qing Lin with him, Mo Yu headed to the main hall. There, he found Elder Ye Fan and other senior members of the Ye family discussing various matters. Seeing Mo Yu emerge from his seclusion, Elder Ye Fan's old, sharp eyes flashed with a hint of surprise.

"Young Brother Mo Yu, it seems your seclusion was quite fruitful. You must have made significant progress," Ye Fan said, testing the waters as he sensed the powerful aura emanating from Mo Yu.

Hearing Elder Ye's words, the other senior members of the Ye family looked at Mo Yu with curiosity and surprise. To think that someone so young had already reached the level of a three-star Dou Shi, and now he had advanced even further—it was truly astonishing.

They were particularly in awe of Mo Yu's mysterious and powerful soul abilities, which made them both intrigued and cautious.

Mo Yu, however, wasn't interested in sharing the secrets of his Vermilion Bird Burning Sky Thunder, so he simply smiled and replied, "It was just a small breakthrough. I actually came to say goodbye, Elder Ye."

From the conversation earlier, Mo Yu had learned that the Ye family planned to move their headquarters to Yancheng, a decision he fully understood.

As one of the most prominent cities in the eastern region, Yancheng was a vital commercial hub and strategically important. The Mo family had risen to power thanks to Yancheng, and now, the Ye family sought to replace them as the leading clan in the eastern region. Moving their headquarters to Yancheng was undoubtedly a wise move.

Upon hearing Mo Yu's intent to leave, Ye Fan nodded knowingly and smiled. "Haha, I'm sure Master Frank has been eagerly waiting for you. When he hears about your role in the Mo family's downfall, I'm sure he'll be utterly shocked."

Mo Yu shook his head and replied modestly, "It wasn't just me who destroyed the Mo family; it was the result of our two families working together."

Elder Ye couldn't help but shake his head at Mo Yu's humility. Most people would have eagerly spread word of such an achievement, but Mo Yu acted as if it were no big deal.

Elder Ye was well aware that while the Ye family had indeed played a role in the Mo family's downfall, the most crucial elements of the plan had been orchestrated by this young man, not yet twenty years old. Even Ye Fan himself hadn't expected to succeed in toppling the Mo family.

"If you plan to return to Black Rock City, the Ye family has a convoy heading there tomorrow morning to deliver some goods. You and your maid are welcome to join them," suggested Ye Cong, one of the senior members of the Ye family.

Mo Yu considered this for a moment and then nodded. If it were just him, riding Zihuo or using Dou Qi to form wings would have been suitable options. However, since he was traveling with Qing Lin, it was safer to go with the convoy.

Seeing Mo Yu agree, the senior members of the Ye family smiled warmly. As Mo Yu's fame spread throughout the empire, they naturally wanted to establish a good relationship with him, hoping to secure a powerful ally in the future.

The next morning, as planned, Mo Yu and Qing Lin set out on the road to Black Rock City, joining the Ye family's convoy.

After two days of travel with the Ye family, Mo Yu and Qing Lin finally returned to Black Rock City.

Upon their arrival, Mo Yu and Qing Lin parted ways with the Ye family's convoy.

Following the directions given by the Ye family members, Mo Yu and Qing Lin walked through several long streets before stopping in front of an imposing building.

The building's design was quite unique, resembling a massive cauldron. The windows around the building were shaped like the cauldron's fire vents, and the high roof was capped with a large lid, as if covering the entire structure.

Mo Yu's eyes were drawn to the building's entrance, where an ancient plaque made of pale purple sandalwood bore five slightly faded characters that glowed faintly: Pharmacist Guild.

Qing Lin, standing beside Mo Yu, was amazed by the grandeur of the building. She turned to him and asked curiously, "Master, is this our destination? I've never seen such an unusual-looking house before."

Mo Yu nodded and chuckled. "This is the Pharmacist Guild. It's full of alchemists—people who are definitely not short on money. Naturally, their place is a bit different. Come on, let's go inside."

With that, Mo Yu strode forward, with Qing Lin obediently following behind him.

As they approached the entrance, two heavily armed guards who had been watching them for some time stepped forward to block their path. "Young man, this is the Pharmacist Guild. Do you have a letter of introduction from your mentor?"

Mo Yu blinked, surprised. A letter of introduction? He didn't have one, of course.

Shrugging helplessly, Mo Yu was about to explain his purpose when a fragrant breeze suddenly wafted in from behind him. The source of the fragrance didn't seem to have any intention of avoiding him, so Mo Yu had to step aside to make way.

As soon as he moved, a petite figure hurriedly took his place. Without so much as a glance at Mo Yu, the girl called back, "Teacher, hurry up!"

"Sigh, girl, you need to stop being so hasty," came an elderly, slightly exasperated voice from behind.

Mo Yu turned his head slightly, his gaze falling on an old man who was slowly approaching with a lazy gait. Mo Yu's eyes quickly focused on the badge on the man's chest. The ancient cauldron emblem on the badge was adorned with four silver stripes!

A fourth-tier alchemist.

Mo Yu was slightly surprised. He hadn't expected that there was another fourth-tier alchemist in Black Rock City besides Frank.

The girl standing nearby was likely in her early twenties. She was quite beautiful, with a petite frame that was surprisingly well-developed. Her full, mature figure was clad in a tight, purple alchemist's uniform.

Noticing Mo Yu's gaze, the girl turned her head slightly to look at him, taking in his handsome face and the equally cute Qing Lin beside him. Curiosity piqued, she studied them both closely.

Although Black Rock City wasn't small, she was the daughter of the city lord and the personal disciple of Master Otto, a fourth-tier alchemist. She was quite familiar with the more outstanding young talents in the city, but she couldn't recall seeing anyone like Mo Yu before.

After a moment, she withdrew her gaze, feeling curious but not wanting to appear rude by staring at him for too long.

"Why have you stopped, girl?" the old man asked with a teasing smile as he finally caught up with her.

"Master Otto!" The two guards at the gate quickly bowed in respect to the old man.

"Hehe," Master Otto chuckled, nodding at the guards. He then stepped forward, his gaze sweeping over the area before pausing on Mo Yu. Noticing the young man's unusual presence, he seemed to realize something and froze slightly.

"You are… Mo Yu, aren't you?" Master Otto asked after a moment of thought.

Mo Yu was taken aback but nodded. "Yes, I'm Mo Yu. Do you know me, Master?"

"Hehe, your deeds have been spreading everywhere lately, and I've heard about your arrangement with Frank. Given your age and your recent accomplishments, I had a hunch it might be you when I saw you here," Master Otto explained with a smile.

Mo Yu, understanding now, nodded. He pointed to the guards at the entrance and said, "Unfortunately, they don't recognize me, and I don't have a letter of introduction. So, it seems I can't even get through the front door."

Master Otto laughed heartily. "Frank must have overlooked that detail, as he tends to be a bit careless. But a small gate wouldn't stop someone who's done what you've done, right?" The old man gave Mo Yu a knowing look before gesturing for him to follow. "Come on, I'll take you to see Frank."

Mo Yu couldn't help but feel a bit exasperated by the way these old masters seemed to treat him like some sort of anomaly. After all, he had only taken down the Mo family. Did that really warrant such awe?

In the Dou Qi Continent, while a fourth-tier alchemist was indeed more esteemed than a Dou Ling (Spirit Dou), Mo Cheng was not only a five-star Dou Ling but also the head of a significant family. Even for a master like Otto, the fall of the Mo family was quite shocking.

Shaking his head, Mo Yu took Qing Lin's hand and followed Master Otto into the hall.

With Master Otto's permission, the guards at the entrance naturally didn't dare to stop them, and Mo Yu was able to enter the Pharmacist Guild with Qing Lin.

Meanwhile, the young woman, Lin Fei, watched curiously as her teacher treated Mo Yu with such kindness. She had never seen her mentor show such favor to anyone from the younger generation before.

"M… Mo Yu…" Lin Fei murmured, her pretty face showing signs of deep thought. Suddenly, her eyes widened in shock as she recalled a conversation she had with her father, the city lord, just a few days ago. The name "Mo Yu" had been mentioned.

According to the rumors, Mo Yu was the one responsible for the destruction of the Mo family.

If that was true, then the young man before her was indeed the same Mo Yu!

As Lin Fei stood there in shock, Mo Yu followed Master Otto's lead and finally met with Master Frank, with whom he had made an agreement…
