Batman’s Son in Marvel

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: More Money Is Needed

Adam Wayne stared at Fox with a look of disbelief, his eyes narrowing slightly as if he couldn't comprehend what he had just heard. Across from him, Fox looked visibly uncomfortable, guilt creeping into his otherwise composed demeanor.

"Adam, although we're all family here, Wayne Enterprises will definitely give you a satisfactory price," Fox began, his voice lacking the usual confidence. "We've estimated the basic technical information alone could be worth tens of billions."

Fox's voice trailed off at the end of his sentence, as if he, too, realized how ridiculous it sounded. Even offering that amount felt like a lowball.

This wasn't just any piece of technology—it was artificial intelligence combined with the bionic quantum state service array. Together, these innovations could revolutionize computing, reshape industries, and potentially alter the course of human civilization.

Fox wasn't exaggerating when he thought the price tag could be incalculable. But the words sounded hollow, even to him.

Adam didn't immediately respond. Instead, he leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. Then, in a low voice, he said, "Fox, Skynet is my life's work. I spent day and night, sacrificing rest and sleep to develop it."

Fox winced at the weight of those words, guilt gnawing at him. But before he could speak, Adam added, "Skynet is like my child."

Fox nearly coughed. He was already feeling bad, but now he felt like a thief trying to steal someone's baby.

However, just as Fox opened his mouth to try to explain himself, Adam's voice cut through.

"You have to pay more."

Fox froze, completely caught off guard.

"What?"

"I said," Adam repeated, "that the technology can be sold—but you'll have to pay more."

Fox blinked in disbelief. He had expected outright rejection, maybe even an angry outburst, but Adam's calm negotiation completely threw him off.

"Wait… you're willing to sell it?" Fox asked cautiously.

"Of course," Adam replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Technology isn't meant to be locked away forever. It's meant to profit."

Fox's mouth opened, but no words came out.

Adam smirked and added, "The question isn't whether I'll sell—it's whether you can afford it."

Fox's shoulders sagged in defeat. He already knew the answer to that question.

"Adam," Fox admitted, "Wayne Enterprises can't generate that kind of cash flow. Not for this. We just don't have the liquidity to make it happen."

Adam nodded, as if he had anticipated the answer.

"That's fine. I expected as much." He leaned forward, his eyes sharp. "We'll change the terms of the deal. I'm not selling the whole thing—just partial rights. We'll partner up instead."

Fox perked up at that, suddenly hopeful.

"Partial rights? What's the plan?"

Adam crossed his arms. "You'll provide resources—equipment, facilities, manpower—and in return, Wayne Enterprises will get access to limited technologies like material enhancements and chip manufacturing. But AI systems? That's off-limits."

Fox quickly nodded, though his mind was already racing.

"Deal," he said, barely able to hide his relief.

"One more thing," Adam added. "I want shares—especially from those outside the Wayne family. I want control."

Fox paused, then nodded slowly. He had already guessed this was coming.

Wayne Enterprises might have been founded by the Wayne family, but they only held a majority stake. The rest was owned by other wealthy families and corporations, many of whom weren't exactly allies.

Adam clearly wanted leverage over those outside the Wayne circle.

Fox approved.

As Bruce Wayne's confidant, Fox had always been loyal to the Wayne family. And now that Adam had shown his brilliance, Fox had no doubt the boy would take Wayne Enterprises even further.

"Fine," Fox said. "But let me give you one piece of advice—sell basic technologies like materials and hardware, but keep AI out of their hands."

Adam raised an eyebrow.

"Trust me," Fox said. "AI in the wrong hands is a disaster waiting to happen. Stick to safe sales, and you'll keep control of the real power."

Adam smirked. "You're sharper than you look, Grandpa Fox."

Fox rolled his eyes, but the smile tugging at his lips betrayed his amusement.

A few days later, Wayne Enterprises held a press conference that sent shockwaves across the tech industry.

They announced breakthroughs in chip technology and operating systems, openly declaring war against tech giants like Intel and Microsoft.

The news immediately caused an uproar, spreading through business circles like wildfire.

Over in New York, Tony Stark lounged on his couch, flipping through the newspaper.

The headline grabbed his attention:

"Wayne Enterprises Declares War on Silicon Valley."

Tony's brows furrowed.

"What the hell are they doing?" he muttered.

Flipping the paper shut, he tossed it onto the table and leaned back.

"They're bluffing," he said aloud, speaking more to himself than to the blonde woman beside him. "There's no way they made breakthroughs I haven't. They're probably just pulling this stunt to attract investors."

He kicked back, ignoring the uneasy feeling creeping into his gut.

"Come on, baby," he said, flashing his signature grin as he pulled the blonde closer. "Let's not waste time talking about Gotham's prince."

He carried her toward the bedroom, leaving the newspaper crumpled underfoot.

Meanwhile, back in Gotham, Adam was unaware that he'd already caught the attention of Tony Stark.

For now, his focus remained on building Skynet's capabilities and cementing his place in the world.

But it wouldn't be long before his actions would draw not just curiosity—but competition.

And as Adam continued to push the boundaries of science, the world was beginning to notice.

A storm was brewing.
