Chapter 196: Plans And Preparing
"The best time to do something would be tomorrow morning until noon—during the Holy Market. And after that, there's the sermon by the two Paragons," Evangelin thought for a moment and replied.
"The Holy Market and the sermon by the two Paragons? Explain more about these three events," Daniel said after a short pause.
"The Holy Market is a major event that happens whenever the Everlasting Way opens. Pilgrims from all over the world can sell their goods there."
"Big merchants also take advantage of this chance to sell to the pilgrims. Plus, the Golden Luck event is held at the same time," Evangelin explained, then paused in case Daniel had questions.
"What's the Golden Luck event?"
"You don't know about it? How can you not? It's one of the most popular events in the world. We use special hammers to break luck stones. If you're lucky, there might be rare treasures inside."
"I see. Go on," Daniel said.
Of course, he didn't know about any of these events. First, because his access level in the Awakened Association's online community was limited, and second, because these are things you usually have to look for to even know they exist.
And Daniel had been far too busy to bother researching stuff like that.
"As for the Paragon sermons—well, as you know, the Prophet's successor will be chosen from one of the two Paragons. Right now, the pilgrims are split into three groups: one that supports neither, and two others each supporting one of the Paragons."
"There are rumors that the successor will be chosen the day after tomorrow. That's why tomorrow, both Paragons will probably hold their own sermons to increase their popularity," Evangelin explained.
Daniel stayed quiet, thinking.
To him, the best time for sabotage would be during one of the Paragons' sermons.
Any attack during their sermon would massively damage their reputation.
'Could it be?'
A thought popped into his mind—but it seemed too stupid. Could one of the two Paragons really be that dumb?
He didn't know, and he didn't want to think too much about it either. Whatever happens, he planned to stop it tomorrow. But before that, he'd definitely take some extra precautions.
He didn't know what the third phase would be yet, but he had some guesses. And if his guesses were right, he needed to prepare himself as much as possible now.
"Anyway, I heard there were three Paragons. What about the third one?" Daniel asked curiously.
"Oh, you mean Uncle Abraham? Sadly, he's not interested in leading the religion. Otherwise, he would definitely be chosen," Evangelin said with a hint of regret.
"Sounds like he's really popular. What about you? As the Prophet's disciple, don't you have a shot at becoming the successor?"
"Uncle Abraham is the best and most beloved Paragon. He understands the Everlasting Way more than anyone else, but still doesn't want to compete. It's a shame...
As for me, well... I managed to complete the Final Abulation," she said shyly.
Daniel stayed silent.
To be honest, he expected more from the Prophet's disciple—but maybe he was wrong.
"You can leave now," he stood up and gestured for her to go.
"Leave? That's it? We haven't even made a plan for tomorrow yet!"
"There's no need. I already have a plan. Just come find me tomorrow," Daniel said.
"Oh… okay. If you say so."
Evangelin stood up, said goodbye, and left.
Before that, Daniel strongly told her not to do anything reckless or talk to anyone until tomorrow.
Of course, he figured she would tell the Prophet everything.
But he didn't care. The Prophet was most likely a demigod. And if a demigod really wanted to act, there was nothing Daniel could do to stop him.
'Why would a demigod even be in the second floor?' he grumbled to himself as he collapsed onto the bed.
If there's a demigod in the second floor, what's waiting on the third? Gods?
"Speaking of the market… now that I think about it, I don't have much money left."
Then something important crossed his mind.
"Malrik."
He summoned his newest Fallen.
"Greetings, my Lord," Malrik knelt on the ground after being summoned.
'This place is just a simulation, but any treasure or item we obtain is real and stays with us. What about money though? Do people here even carry money?'
Daniel stared at Malrik while thinking.
"Do you have any money, treasure, or anything valuable?"
After all, this guy had apparently lived for centuries—it'd be crazy if he didn't have something.
Malrik didn't say anything. He took out his dimensional ring and respectfully handed it to his master.
Daniel took it and found he could access it.
Without hesitation, he activated his spiritual sense and looked inside.
"Oh my god."
What he saw shocked him. The amount of treasure and coins inside was far beyond anything he expected.
Words couldn't even describe the wealth contained in that ring.
"My Lord, this is the wealth I've gathered over centuries of wandering. Now that I serve you, it's my greatest honor to offer this fortune to please you," Malrik said proudly, seeing Daniel's reaction.
"Haha, Malrik, you did a great job. Seems like you didn't waste your life after all."
Daniel emptied the ring and transferred everything into his inventory.
He left three weapons inside the ring for Malrik, then handed it back to him.
"You may return and rest," he said as he canceled the summon.
"My funds are full again. Plus, with all these treasures, I can sell them to the Awakened Association and earn tons of Zen."
"That way, once we go to the capital, we won't have any more financial issues.
My family will be able to live in complete peace."
Even though he already had enough money, having more was always better—especially since there were now two geniuses in his family whose expenses he had to cover too.
The stronger they became, the more expensive their needs would get.
Then he closed his eyes.
It was time to rest—tomorrow, he'd have to stop multiple hostile attacks.
