Awakened: SSS Ranked Soul king

Chapter 166: Untitled

"Welcome back kid, hope you had fun in the city"

As Guilliman entered the house, he was greeted with a warm welcome from the old man who seemingly making a metallic contraption infront of the chimney of cottage.

It looked a lot like a welding bench, but there were some strange shapes and functions added to it that Guilliman couldn't quite understand even with his experience.

"It was fruitful, ohhh this is Eric blaze" Guilliman responded before facing the direction of his room and heading straight up the stairs of the cottage.

"Ohh hello Eric" the old devil responded with a nod as if it being only natural. It wasn't until around 30 seconds later that he paused.

"Eric blaze? Who's that?" The old devil didn't even pay attention to Guilliman much less this Eric fellow. But did he just hear that Guilliman brought a stranger here?!!!

"Pretty nice, pretty nice." Up the stairs in Guillimans room, Eric looked around and admired the coziness of Guillimans place.

It felt so warm and accommodating, it was nothing like his place that was filled with random pieces of junk and weapons. He quite liked this place.

"You said this place belongs to a merchant? Which one?" Eric truned to Guilliman and asked.

To afford this amount of land in kong shi, one didn't just need money. They needed generational wealth combined with heavy connections to a strong faction. There was a lot that went into it, he had to be famous.

"Uracil is his name." Guilliman said calmly picking up a book by the side of his bed and opening it up.

"Hmm, never heard of him" Eric responded and went ahead to continue exploring the cottage.

Meanwhile,

"Hey kid" the old devil floated to the side of Guillimans window and called for his attention.

Hearing this Guilliman slowly looked to the side and cracked the window open by a small margin.

"What?" Guilliman asked a look on exhaustion on his face. He had a long day and just wanted to unwind, these distractions were pissing him off a bit.

"Blaze, that kid Blaze, you know he's from a major faction in the city? Their called The Seven Coloured bonfire" The old devil explained.

He had brushed up on some kong stronghold politics during his time here and knew a few things. The name blaze was one of the most prominent names in the city.

They had a long line of S Ranks in their ranks and had stable hold over one of the strongholds defending armies. Guilliman had brought home a ticking time bomb without even noticing it.

"Ohhh, that makes sense" Guilliman muttered. The man he fought on that rooftop was quite young to be an S rank. It made sense that he was from a much bigger group.

"Really? You're still unbothered?" The old devil asked.

Guillimans demeanor had completely changed after all those years in the nightmare desert, he seemed to care little about a lot of things showing less and less emotion, maybe it was amount of deaths he witnessed, maybe it was some random evident of cruelty, but the kid was not the same.

He had changed.

"Hehe, it's not that serious. According to him his family doesn't care that much about him and he has been living on his own for a while" Guilliman explained trying to put the old devil at ease.

The old devil didn't want attention at this moment, he was more concern about establishing himself here so he could bring his disciples over when it the time Was right.

"Hmmm, okay. Just keep an eye on him" the old devil nodded with a look of contemplation and confusion. He slowly floated down the window and went on his way afterwards.

Unknown to him however, Guilliman had just lied through his teeth.

His family didn't care? Guilliman and him literally just had to run for their lives not so long ago from this very family that didn't "care" Guilliman even had to fight an S rank for this kid.

However, he thought of it as absolutely worth it. Because Guilliman noticed something about Eric. That young man was exhibiting traits of a particular type of shaman, the type his father exhibited.

This was beyond shocking, abiet these signs being minute, he couldn't help but feel immense intrigue. His father was the strongest shaman in history, able to stand toe to toe with the disasters of the universe. At least that was until guilliman came along.

It was strange to see such a thing so randomly though, it raised the questions on what the sanctuary was again in his mind, was it just a place? A prison or something deeper? Guilliman didn't know, but he was adamant to find out.

"I should probably be preparing for my rush into A rank too" Guilliman muttered.

Guilliman had killed a load of unholy creatures in the nightmare desert. But scaling to higher ranks was just not as easy as it looked on paper.

At this point killing a Grand or mythic creature was the same as killing a random chicken on the road. It had so negligible an effect that Guilliman didn't even bother looking in their direction.

It also meant, his pool of creatures had been reduced by a significant amount. He now had to seek out creatures at the wayfarer rank proactively and try to kill them.

This was quite hard a task of course, as wayfarers were top of the food chain and extremely hard to find.

"Well….we're in kong shi after all, I'm sure an opportunity will show itself when the time is right" Guilliman muttered before facing the book infront of him once again.

There was so much to do, and so little time, he could only hope that things would come to ahead soon.
