Awaken the Tenseigan, Become the Mastermind of the Shinobi World

Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Kabuto's Persuasion, the Raikage's Wrath

Inside a remote cave in the Land of Fire, Kabuto Yakushi once again summoned the reanimated shinobi he had just released—everyone, that is, except the Fourth Hokage.

Behind him stood rows upon rows of white coffins, hundreds in total, all containing powerful warriors collected by Hyuga Gakuya and himself.

Having completed his assigned task, Kabuto stood up, ready to carry out the next part of Gakuya's plan: rallying Uchiha Sasuke and Uchiha Obito to launch the Fourth Great Ninja War.

At that moment, the space beside him warped and twisted. Uchiha Obito appeared out of thin air, carrying with him the corpse of Nagato.

"My job here is done. I'm heading back to rest," Obito said coldly.

He had long since given up his own will, now acting only on Gakuya's orders—for the sake of protecting Rin's peace. Day after day, he could be found silently staring at her coffin, lost in thought.

"It's not over yet. I still need your help to persuade Sasuke and Kisame to initiate the Ten-Tails plan," Kabuto said as he crouched down, carefully storing away the Rinnegan and sealing Nagato's corpse.

He turned to Obito. "Right now, we're comrades in arms for the Fifth Great Ninja War."

Obito's face twisted with discomfort. All the blame was being pinned on him, and yet, he was just a puppet—a performer on Gakuya's stage.

"I get it. You don't have to remind me."

"Sasuke and Kisame are currently here..." Kabuto pulled out a map and pointed to a location. "Let's go. Just make sure you put on a good show. Once the plan's complete, Gakuya-sama will bring you and Rin back to life—in that new world he's building."

Kabuto wasn't shy about dangling the bait.

But Obito didn't react with even a flicker of excitement. All he cared about now was that Rin's soul remained undisturbed. If she were revived, she'd just become another tool Gakuya could use to threaten him.

Without another word, he silently followed Gakuya's orders and absorbed Kabuto into his Kamui space.

...

Deep within a dense forest in the Land of Fire, Kisame and Sasuke were racing toward the Land of Rain.

Kisame carried Killer B's clone slung across Samehada as they rushed forward. Without any word from Nagato about beginning the Tailed Beast absorption, they could only stick to the plan and move quickly.

Just then, Obito and Kabuto appeared before them out of thin air.

The two stopped immediately. Sasuke's Mangekyō Sharingan flared to life the moment he recognized them.

"Kabuto? And you're with Uchiha Obito?" Sasuke narrowed his eyes. "Are you betraying Gakuya?"

Sasuke had no love for Obito, one of the conspirators behind the Uchiha Clan's downfall. As for Kabuto, he was merely a colleague—if he'd truly turned on Gakuya, Sasuke would have no hesitation executing him on the spot.

Kabuto, ever the seasoned actor, slipped seamlessly into his role, feigning hurt.

"Come now, don't be so cold. I did help teach you Wood Style, didn't I?"

Obito, expressionless, stated plainly,

"Sasuke. Kisame. The plan to capture the Nine-Tails has failed. Nagato is dead. And Hyuga Gakuya... has betrayed the Ten-Tails plan."

Sasuke's eyes widened.

"That's impossible! Gakuya-sama would never betray us—he's the mastermind behind the entire plan!"

Kisame chuckled darkly on the side. If even Gakuya and Nagato—the two most powerful figures in the shinobi world—had failed, then Obito's involvement had to be a factor.

He figured Obito was still set on carrying out the Eye of the Moon Plan, creating his so-called "true world." In that case, Kisame would play along.

Kabuto gave a cold laugh.

"Sasuke, the truth is right in front of you. Why cling to denial? Gakuya's turned his back on our shared goal. He's sided with the Five Great Nations."

"Shut up, traitor!" Sasuke roared, unsheathing his Kusanagi blade and charging at them. "You think I'll let you slander Gakuya with lies?!"

Obito blurred out of the way with ease.

"Sasuke, calm down. This isn't the time to be reckless. Don't you still want your family to be resurrected?"

But Sasuke wasn't listening. His Mangekyō spun wildly as chakra flared around him.

That's when Kisame stepped in, playing his part. "Sasuke, hold on. Let's hear what they have to say."

Obito, still calm, added, "Now's not the time to let emotions lead. We need to rework the plan."

Sasuke glared at him.

"Don't act like I don't see through you, Obito. You've always wanted to use us to fulfill your twisted ambitions!"

Obito scoffed. "You're too naïve. Gakuya's betrayal has thrown everything into chaos. If we don't unite now, everything we've built will crumble."

Kisame nodded. "Sasuke, it's true. The situation's turned against us."

"You too, Kisame?!" Sasuke shouted. "I trusted you because you fought alongside Itachi!"

Kabuto stepped forward again.

"Sasuke, if we keep advancing the plan and fuse with the Ten-Tails, you'll gain the power you need for revenge. Don't you want to avenge your clan?"

"I do," Sasuke growled, blood vessels bulging in his eyes. "But I won't believe for a second that Gakuya betrayed us."

"Then ask yourself this," Obito said. "If he hasn't betrayed us, why haven't we heard a word from him?"

Sasuke fell silent. His mind spun with doubt and conflict.

Suddenly, the sounds of pursuit echoed from behind them.

The shinobi of Kumogakure were closing in.

...

Back in Kumogakure, a few ninja had found Hyuga Gakuya traveling with Naruto and his group. Seeing they were allies, they were quickly taken to meet the Fourth Raikage, A.

None of the Kumo shinobi recognized Gakuya as a member of the Akatsuki—the one who had just attacked their village. Everyone who'd seen him during the assault was already dead.

Under the escort of Kumogakure's ninja, the group was brought to the Raikage's temporary medical quarters.

The Fourth Raikage lay in bed, pale and wrapped in heavy bandages. But the moment he laid eyes on Hyuga Gakuya, rage ignited in his eyes. Ignoring his injuries, he tried to rise and strike Gakuya down.

This was the man who had attacked Kumogakure. The same man responsible for the deaths of countless elite shinobi. There was no doubt in the Raikage's mind that Gakuya had played a key role.

"You bastard! How dare you show your face here after destroying Kumogakure! I'll tear you limb from limb!" the Raikage roared, forcing chakra into his arm for a lethal chop aimed at Gakuya's neck.

Before Jiraiya could react, Naruto stepped in front of the attack, arms wide to block the blow.

"Raikage-sama, please calm down!" Jiraiya said urgently. "Now's not the time for impulsive action. The leader of the Akatsuki, Nagato, is dead. Gakuya has abandoned the darkness—he's chosen to join us in fighting our true enemy."

The Raikage glared daggers at Jiraiya.

"Why are you protecting this criminal?! Have you already forgotten the devastation he brought to Kumogakure?! Doesn't that deserve justice?!"
