Chapter Twelve: Ghost On Canva. 

 Kai makes his way to the dining room, as the smell of breakfast hits him. He have been having flashes from last night, the sore feeling of his but was a constant reminder. 

He finds the most annoying face he could ever wish to see. Merthur sipped coffee casually with a smirk plastered on his face. 

"Oh there comes my sleeping beauty"

Kai glares at him. "Where's Nora?"

"I don't even get a good morning", Merthur sighs. 

The gestered for Kai to come sit by the table. 

"Let's have breakfast"

Kai walks towards him,flinches a bit as immediately when he took his sit. 

"I guess I might have been too rough. My apologies"

Kai glares, at the same time could almost have died from embarrassment. 

"I fulfilled my promise. I got her everything she needed based on our deal"

He tossed a folder to his side of the table. Kai opens it to go through them 

"A private apartment not too far from here but within the estate,best security and doctor."

Kai flips through the paper and pictures of Nora smiling at the new place and the doctor's report. 

He looks up at Merthur, "Thank you"

Merthur leans in. 

"Why don't you save her from her misery, make her a vampire. She would become immune to her illness"

Kai slams his hand on the table. 

"Don't you dare speak about this to me again. Nora is better off human and not a blood drinker"

"Blood drinker?" Merthur scoffed. 

"You hate your nature, don't you?"

"Nora is everything I have since I took her and ran away from that miserable orphanage. She symbolizes something I would never have, humanity, Merthur. 

"At the end, we are just a slave to the blood", Kai clenches his fist. 

"Instead of keeping Nora away from here. Why can't she just stay here, with me"

Merthur walk over to Kai. Bends to whisper in his ears. 

"Her being here wouldn't give the privacy to f*ck you anywhere I want in this house"

Kai's face flushes red with anger and embarrassment. 

Turns around to hit Merthur but misses. 

"You are such a disgusting pervert"

Merthur laughs, he enjoys Kai being embarrassed. 

"Shy now, huh? You weren't in my arms last night."

 After breakfast, Kai stormed upstairs to the library. His fingers gently touched the mate mark on his shoulder. 

"I'm doomed, I'm mated to a perverted psycho", Kai kicked his feet in the air screaming silently. 

"Still excited from the memories of last night"

"Oh shut, you took advantage of me while I was in heat", Kai tosses a book at him, Merthur catches it easily.

"I saved your life, and don't pretend you never wanted my big Merthur", raising an eyebrow. 

"I don't understand what happened to me yesterday, I'm a Beta. I ought not to go into intensive heat like that."

"I suspect foul play and you are the only suspect. You probably did something", Kai narrows his eyes slightly. 

"So you think I did something"

"You are a monster, Merthur. You can do anything to have your way"

Merthur immediately grabs him by the chin. "You are mine, I own you, and purchased you at an auction. I don't need to do that. Know your PLACE!"

 Kai sat in the library for hours, reading any book he could lay his hands on. His mind wandered to the old study that had the painting of a woman. He had to see it again. 

He now stands in front of the study door. Pushing the door, it was looked. The place smelled of old book and dust just like the last time. 

The large oil painting of this woman had a striking resemblance to Kai. The dark hair, stormy eyes, freckles and mole at the right side of his mouth. 

Kai stares at it. "Who is…she?"

"She is someone I lost a long time ago. The pain was unbearable when it happened"

Kai heard a low voice behind him. It was Merthur standing by the doorway, his expression was of pain. Kai has never seen this expression before. 

Merthur walks to his side, locked eyes on Kai. He gasped, the resemblance was undeniable. 

"Tell me, Kai. Have you ever wondered why you meant to look exactly like her?"
