Chapter 166: Chapter 151.1: The Fear of Starlight
The Other Side of the City.
Mallory walked into a house.
This was one of the safe houses she had prepared for herself.
Mallory kicked off her shoes and poured herself a cup of hot water.
Gulp, gulp—she drank it down.
"Butcher, you really are a harbinger of disaster."
"But at least, from now on, I won't have to deal with you, you bastard."
"You know, if you had just listened to my advice."
"You wouldn't have had to die so miserably."
Back when Homelander caught Butcher and Storm betrayed him—
Mallory received a phone call.
It was from Butcher.
But Butcher didn't say a word the entire time.
Yet every single word of Homelander and Storm's conversation was transmitted to Mallory through the signal.
When she heard Storm surrender, Mallory knew things had taken a turn for the worse.
She immediately packed up and left the villa.
Not long after she left, she heard Butcher's screams.
And then, the communication ended.
Mallory knew that this time, her old subordinate was as good as dead.
But she had no time to mourn Butcher.
Right now, Mallory needed to worry about how to escape Homelander and Storm's pursuit.

"Good morning, New York."
As the morning radio program played, Starlight pulled open the curtains.
The sunlight shone on her body.
It made her feel warm all over, tempting her to climb back into bed for one more minute of sleep.
But instead, she stepped into the bathroom. Soon, the water from the showerhead moistened her hair.
It trickled down her smooth skin and delicate collarbones, rolling further down across her thighs before finally dripping onto the floor.
After taking a shower—
Starlight opened her wardrobe.
Inside hung more than a dozen identical, sexy battle suits.
Every time she put one on, Starlight felt like she was exposing herself to the public's gaze.
She clenched her fists slightly and looked toward the old-fashioned suit with a cape, tucked deep inside the wardrobe.
But in the end, she still took out the latest version of her battle suit.
She stripped off her clothes, applied pasties to her chest, and changed into the suit.
Then, she opened another cabinet and took out golden gloves and boots.
After putting everything on—
She stepped out of her room.
After breakfast, Starlight received a notification.
Homelander was summoning all superheroes.
Supposedly, a new member was joining today and needed to be introduced to everyone.
Starlight let out a long breath, put on a friendly smile, and walked toward the command hall.
Moments later, she arrived at the hall.
As the doors opened, she saw Queen Maeve.
This superhero had been working in the Department of Defense lately, heavily entrusted by Homelander with responsibilities there.
Honestly, Starlight envied her.
Even though Maeve's current work wasn't that of a superhero, it carried more depth and meaning than typical hero work.
Unlike herself—who spent her days shuttling between various film sets.
She bore the title of a superhero but was essentially doing the job of a pop idol.
Sure, it brought her a handsome income and a huge fan base.
But—
This isn't the life I want.
Starlight thought, stepping into the hall and greeting everyone proactively.
"Good morning."
Maeve lifted her head, saw that it was Starlight, and nodded slightly.
Then—
A tall, model-like woman, the Ice Princess, walked in. Behind her, Elemental Man and Electric Man followed.
Once they had all arrived, Homelander's voice rang out.
"Good morning, everyone."
"You all look quite energetic today."
Wearing a black battle suit with a red cape, Homelander strode into the command hall.
A bright, sunny smile spread across his face.
Starlight also smiled, looking at the man while thinking to herself—
I've already obtained Compound V.
Tonight, I'll hand it over to Storm.
This fake hero game will finally come to an end.
Hopefully, after this, superheroes can return to their real jobs.
Then, she heard Homelander say with a smile—
"Ever since we lost Translucent and Black Noir, the Seven has been short on members."
"This has forced Electric Man to take on more work."
"But today, our team will be welcoming a new member."
"I believe that with her joining, the Seven will only get better and better."
"Now, let's welcome—"
As Homelander clapped, Starlight followed suit.
Then, she heard him announce—
"Let's welcome Storm!"
Starlight's entire body trembled.
She forgot to clap.
Maeve shot her a strange look.
But at this moment, Starlight's mind had already turned into a chaotic mess.
Storm?
How could it be Storm?
Wasn't she against Homelander?
How could she be joining the Seven?
I must have heard wrong!
A series of questions made Starlight's head feel like it was about to explode.
Then, she saw a familiar figure walk in.
Petite, asymmetrical haircut, wearing earrings, clad in a black and green battle suit—Storm entered the hall.
"Hello, everyone."
"I'm Storm."
"I'm honored to be part of the Seven today."
The moment she stepped into the hall, Storm enthusiastically greeted everyone.
She shook Ice Princess's hand. "Wow, you look even more beautiful in person than on TV."
"Your skin is amazing—I'm jealous."
Then, she shook Maeve's hand. "Queen Maeve, I'm your fan."
Starlight watched as this woman went around greeting everyone—without so much as sparing her a glance.
She assumed Storm was deliberately pretending not to know her and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
But then, Storm turned toward her and said—
"Hey there, Starlight."
"We meet again."
"You must be surprised that we're seeing each other here."
Maeve chuckled and casually asked, "You two know each other?"
Storm let out a hearty laugh. "I'm her fan."
"And yes."
"We know each other."
"We first met on the subway, right, Starlight?"
Starlight's whole body stiffened.
She didn't know why Storm was saying this.
She didn't know what Storm was up to.
"Oh, you met on the subway?" Maeve asked curiously. "What did you two talk about?"
Storm laughed. "Back then, I had some misunderstandings about Homelander, so I told Starlight some bad things about him."
Storm looked at Homelander. "You don't mind, do you, sir?"
Homelander's smile was warm. "I don't care."
"You're the best," Storm said, playfully acting like a spoiled child.
Then, she turned to Maeve. "At the time, I wanted to cause trouble for Homelander."
"So I urged Starlight to do something."
"But I didn't expect—Starlight actually agreed."
"Looks like she doesn't like Homelander."
Gradually, not just Maeve, but even the others picked up on the deeper meaning in Storm's words.
They all turned to look at Starlight.
Panicked, Starlight glanced at Homelander, then shook her head. "No, I don't dislike Homelander, I—"
Storm pressed a finger to her lips. "Shh, dear."
"Think before you speak."
"Otherwise, you'll make things very awkward for everyone."
Starlight looked around in a daze. She even considered crashing through the floor-to-ceiling windows to escape from the Seven Tower.
Then, she heard Storm continue—
"Starlight stole something for us."
"So, Starlight, you must have it by now, right?"
"You have Compound V, don't you?"
Starlight's eyes suddenly lit up, and the lights and screens in the command hall flickered.
The sound of crackling electricity filled the air, and even the lamp above Starlight's head sparked. She abruptly raised her hand and pushed toward Storm.
A stream of light shot out, blasting Storm into the air.
But she was caught by Homelander.
Immediately.
Maeve and the other superheroes all stood up, warily looking at Starlight.
Only then did Starlight realize how incredibly foolish her action had been.
"I—"
"I—"
Starlight looked at Homelander. "Homelander, I can explain."
But at that moment, Homelander's eyes lit up, as if miniature suns were rising within them.
Then, he said, "Put your hands down, miss."
"What are you doing?"
"You attacked Storm!"
"You'd better sit down right now and explain to me what's going on here."
At this moment, there wasn't the slightest trace of a smile on Homelander's face.
The overwhelming pressure made Starlight's entire body go weak, fear gripping her like a child caught red-handed by an adult.
Maeve tried to mediate. "Starlight, is there some kind of misunderstanding here?"
"You can try to explain."
Starlight glanced at Maeve. "I—"
