Chapter 165: Chapter 151: The Fear of Starlight
Not to mention Butcher's surprise.
Even Homelander and Levin were the same.
One second, she was their comrade-in-arms. The next second, she betrayed them and sold out Butcher at the speed of light.
This left Homelander and Levin in awe.
This woman was truly an eye-opener.
She had absolutely no psychological barrier.
Let alone guilt.
Perhaps, to her, guilt didn't even exist.
At this moment, Butcher finally spoke, "Are you serious?"
Stormfront chuckled and cast him a flirtatious glance.
"I can't help it."
"I can't beat Homelander."
"Other than surrendering, what else can I do?"
Butcher smirked roguishly. "Is survival really that important?"
"Important enough for you to betray your own principles and become this bastard's lapdog?"
Stormfront nodded earnestly. "Of course survival is important. Forget being his lapdog—I'd even be his actual dog."
She then turned to Homelander, putting on a flattering smile. "Homelander, please believe me. You'll soon find that I'm very useful."
Homelander laughed, completely unafraid of this woman deceiving him.
With his hands behind his back, Homelander cast Insight on her.
Stormfront's inner thoughts immediately echoed in his mind.
Will he believe me?
I really don't want to die.
Never mind betraying Butcher—so what if I betray everyone?
What's more important than staying alive?
Hmm.
She was sincere.
Of course, that didn't mean Homelander would trust her just like that.
"I can let you go."
"Now tell me, what's his plan?"
"And who else wants to come after me?"
Stormfront immediately stood up, her face beaming with a smile. "This guy plans to expose Vought's dealings to the media using Compound V. Personally, I think it's a pretty stupid idea."
"But for him, there really isn't a better way."
Homelander rubbed his nose, glanced at the bearded man, and smirked. "You actually got your hands on Compound V?"
Butcher raised his chin defiantly. "Where there's a will, there's a way."
"Daddy's got plenty of ways to take you down."
Homelander chuckled, then looked back at Stormfront. "How did he get Compound V?"
Stormfront walked up to him, leaning in.
Homelander's face turned cold, and he immediately took a step back. "Don't get too close. We're not that familiar."
Stormfront maintained her smile. "My mistake."
"Starlight."
"We contacted Starlight."
"She agreed to steal some Compound V for us."
Homelander laughed. "Is that so?"
"Starlight…"
"What a foolish girl."
He glanced at Butcher. "To deal with me, you dragged an innocent girl into this mess."
"Mate, you're not much better than me."
Butcher's expression shifted slightly before he replied, "When an avalanche happens, no single snowflake is innocent."
"In this matter, no superhero can remain uninvolved."
Homelander shook his head. "Hypocrite."
"If you admitted you were just selfish, I might've respected you a little."
"But instead, you use this excuse."
"Guess I overestimated you."
He turned back to Stormfront. "What else?"
"Mallory. A retired old woman."
"I eavesdropped on their conversation. That woman should be his superior."
"Former superior," Stormfront corrected without hesitation, selling out Mallory just as easily.
Homelander did know about this woman.
He nodded.
"Good. I'm starting to believe in your sincerity."
"But it's not quite enough."
Stormfront spread her hands. "What do you want me to do?"
"Strip naked?"
"No, no, no."
Homelander shook his head. Although this woman looked young, she was actually an old lady.
He had no interest in old ladies.
He reminded her.
"If I recall correctly, you attacked me before."
Stormfront chuckled. "Ah, that."
"Easy."
"How about this?"
"I'll punish myself."
With that, she looked toward the sky.
Her eyes began to glow.
Soon, dark clouds gathered overhead, lightning crackling within.
A storm seemed to be brewing.
Stormfront raised her hands as if grasping something, causing the lightning within the clouds to converge.
They gradually gathered into a single point, forming a thunderous mass.
Then, a bolt of lightning as thick as a tree trunk tore through the sky.
It struck Stormfront directly.
The woman let out an agonized scream as her clothes burned away.
Her skin quickly turned red, then ignited, and finally charred black.
Electricity continued to course through Stormfront. After two or three seconds, there was a final bright flash.
Stormfront was blasted away.
She flew through the air like a cannonball, slamming into the ground and leaving a deep trench in the grass.
Lying in the trench, her clothes were in tatters, exposing many parts that shouldn't be seen.
Unfortunately, there was nothing sexy about it.
Her skin was burnt in multiple places.
Even her hair was half-gone.
Butcher's lip twitched. He hadn't expected this woman to be so ruthless toward herself.
It was as if she had genuinely tried to kill herself by calling down such terrifying lightning.
Even Homelander was surprised.
He had a newfound impression of Stormfront.
He chuckled. "You certainly leave an impression."
Meanwhile, Stormfront struggled to her feet, dusting herself off.
Her charred skin had already started peeling away, revealing fresh, baby-smooth skin beneath, with a faint reddish hue.
"As long as you're happy."
"I don't mind."
"If you think that wasn't enough…"
"I can do it again."
"Or you can choose a specific spot, like a… sensitive area."
Homelander quickly waved his hand. "No, I have no interest in that."
He continued, "Now then, what do you think we should do with Butcher?"
Stormfront walked up to the bearded man, grinning. "Leave it to me."
She suddenly accelerated, turning into a blur as she crashed into Butcher's chest.
Her hand pierced through his torso, blood dripping from her fingertips.
Butcher's eyes widened as he spat blood all over Stormfront's face. "Bitch!"
Stormfront stuck out her tongue, licking the blood from her lips, and smiled. "Thanks."
Then, her hand crackled with electricity, and in an instant, Butcher burst into flames. But the bearded man no longer felt anything.
The massive wound in his chest, coupled with the high-voltage shock, took his life in an instant.
Stormfront withdrew her hand, pushed Butcher's corpse to the ground, wiped her hand on herself, and returned to Homelander's side.
She dropped to one knee and looked up at Homelander. "Are you satisfied?"
"You acted too quickly."
Homelander frowned. "At least let me ask where Mallory lives first."
Stormfront tapped her temple. "I remember where her house is."
"Then what are we waiting for?"
The two rose into the sky, paused briefly, and then flew toward the suburbs.
And so.
Only Levin was left at the scene.
Moments later, Homelander and Stormfront landed at Mallory's villa.
Their impact made the ground tremble slightly.
Stormfront was the first to rush in, smashing through a floor-to-ceiling window and swiftly sweeping through the house.
A moment later, she emerged from the villa, her face grim.
"That woman's not here."
"Looks like she already left."
Homelander narrowed his eyes slightly, sending out streams of data from his fingertips, connecting to the local network.
He took control of all the villa's cameras.
Soon, he spotted footage of Mallory taking a phone call and then hurriedly leaving.
"She just left."
Homelander tracked her movements through city surveillance until her car entered the city.
Then, the surveillance in that area was suddenly disrupted.
Homelander could see nothing.
"Heh, as expected of a former CIA operative. She's got some tricks."
He stopped the search.
Mallory had ways to evade surveillance.
Homelander didn't want to waste time.
He glanced at Stormfront.
"You need a bath."
Stormfront put on a fawning expression. "Want to join me?"
"No."
"Come to the Seven Tower tomorrow."
With that, Homelander flew into the sky and returned to Seven Tower.
Stormfront took a few steps back, sat on the grass, and clutched her chest.
"At least I'm still alive."
