Chapter 10: 10. The Aria VII
Siegfried who understood his feelings knew that it would be bad for him if he stayed near Brynhildr. he steeled his heart and tried to leave many times but upon seeing her saddened visage he couldn't bring himself to leave.
He decided to accompany her for a few more days, but deep down he knew it was just an excuse for him as he didn't also want to leave.
Both of them were like moths drawn to a flame, even if they knew they would get burned, they couldn't help themselves.
Since Brynhildr has been trapped in the cave for years and has not been outside for so long, Sieg recounted tales from his journey and how the lands changed over the years to her.
Brynhildr listened to all of this with a soft smile and shining eyes as she was excited to hear anything from him.
Unknowingly a smile formed on Siegfried's face as he was telling her about his adventures.
Even without him noticing his guard against her was dropping bit by bit.
Maybe he did... but he didn't care....
...
Although Mt Hindarfjall looked eerie and scary at the summit there were still beautiful places near it.
So right now Siegfried couldn't help but be in a daze as he gazed at Brynhildr who had a smile on her face while she was moving through the valley of flowers.
The smile on her face was so pure and ethereal that it made his heart skip a beat for the umpteenth time of the day.
He felt as if he could just gaze at that smile for an infinite time without getting bored.
Siegfried knew..... he had fallen.
The more time he spent with her, the more he felt it hard to extricate himself from her presence.
Her presence in his life made it much more meaningful, he felt as if there was some value to continue living.
His dry and monotonous life seemed to have gotten some more colour.
As he was in his thoughts he was snapped out of them as he heard her laughter causing him to gaze at Brynhildr as only one thought came into his mind.
'Beautiful'
He watched as she had a joyful smile on her face while she had both arms out running them through the flowers.
She was wearing a white dress which seemed to match well with her white hair, and although the dress was a fairly ordinary one it seemed to give Brynhildr a sense of purity and her smile was enough to heal negative emotions.
She did a little twirl as her laughter resounded through the sea of flowers, Siegfried couldn't help but crack a smile as her mood was contagious.
With the sun setting in the background and Brynhilde in a pure white dress in the middle of the breathtaking sea of purple flowers was an ethereal sight Siegfried wouldn't forget.
Suddenly he noticed that she stopped and bent down to pick up a white flower in the middle of all of the purple flowers.
The sheer joy on her face as she gently picked up the flower with both hands as she turned around to show it to him with a bright smile.
Suddenly a strong gust of wind hit them causing the flower in her to escape away.
"Ah! " Brynhildr exclaimed as she tried to reach for it but her vision was blocked by her hair which was messed up by the wind.
She felt a bit sad about losing the flower but she was brought out of her reverie as she felt Siegfried's finger brush against her ear as he pulled he helped straighten her messed-up hair.
Brynhildr couldn't help but blush slightly as she averted her eyes as she couldn't look straight at his face.
Siegfried didn't know what was happening it was like he was acting on instinct, when he saw her messed up hair he couldn't help but reach out and tug her loose hair behind her ears.
Gazing at her who was blushing and refused to meet his gaze Siegfried felt as if his heart was jumping out of his chest. He gazed at the white flower in his palm and without waiting he reached out to put it in her hair.
Brynhildr was also stunned by his actions as her heart was also pounding, she couldn't help but remember the few days she spent together with him.
It was the happiest she had ever in her life, Brynhildr knew that she had fallen in love with him. But she always felt that he was just staying with her out of duty and honour not out of love.
As he had expressively stated before, he didn't save her out of love but due to his sense of responsibility and that there was never a chance of a relationship between them.
So Although he accompanied her these few days she knew he was doing it out of pity maybe and he would leave someday.
Brynhildr knew that once he left there would be no further intersection between them as she knew with his character he would make sure to never bring tragedy to her.
She who loved him from the bottom of her heart felt that this was for the best as she wouldn't bring misfortune to him.
And if he didn't have feelings for her then it would be for the best as she didn't want him to experience the pain she felt...
