Chapter 1024: The Asset
Lisa opened her eyes before sunrise…
Most of the time, she stays within her Immortal Tower within the Luminara Kingdom. She had decided to only visit the Shadow Domain once in a while, as she needed plenty of resources for various… Being an Immortal Vampire doesn't mean that she could just relax after all.
She needed a better way to increase her Divinity, and it wasn't easy since this realm wasn't suited to hold Immortals in the first place…
"I have a bad feeling…" Lisa muttered to herself as she sensed something was off. If she were just a normal Arcanist, she could just brush it off, but as an Immortal, she knew that this meant something.
Still, she had to continue on with her day.
As she sat up, she glanced beside her bed where a small wooden table held a silver-framed portrait of Vale...
It was quite a simple painting, one she had commissioned when Vale had visited years ago to entrust her with Luminara's protection.
She looked at it for a moment before she sighed and started her day.
She stretched, cracked her knuckles, and glanced at the scrolls on her desk.
Most of them were reports… Evil creature sightings. Trade negotiations. A complaint from the southern village about unstable Formation Circles on their defense wall and many others.
Lisa rubbed her temples. "Another long day."
After washing up and putting on her dark red robe, she left her room and headed to the upper floor of the Immortal Tower.
Through the windows in the hallway, she could see that the skies outside were still gray. Fog still surrounded the tower.
It was not a normal phenomenon, but a part of the Immortal Tower's protection.
Still, her tower was actually at the center of a city…
Then, with her own Divine Sense amplified by the Tower, she saw a few First Class Arcanists on patrol, and there seemed to be no issues outside.
"Lady Lisa… Good morning." A young Beast Arts practitioner greeted her from the hallway.
Lisa gave him a short nod before stepping into the main chamber.
Inside were the three Time Manipulators under Vale's control. Liora, Cyper, and Elysia.
They were already awake and they all had a task in hand.
"Morning," Lisa said as she walked in.
"Morning, Miss Lisa…" Liora replied while adjusting Tower's Core Formation.
It seemed that she was moving the energy generated by the Tower to the research laboratory.
Lisa didn't mind as it was quite a normal thing to happen.
"There's a minor evil spirit rampage near the river district again. We've already isolated it. Should stabilize before noon."
"Good," Lisa said. "Cyper, what about the mage rotation?"
"The northern checkpoints have been updated. Twenty new Combat Arts Arcanists from the outer towns have arrived. I placed them under Instructor Farrel for reconditioning."
Lisa nodded, satisfied. "And Elysia?"
Elysia, who was reading a few documents, tossed Lisa a crystal orb.
"New readings on the Chaos Arts Practitioners activity. Nothing close yet… but there's movement. We'll need to adjust the border alerts."
Everyone knew that the Arcane Dominion had issued requests to hunt Chaos Arts Practitioners. The Arcanist Guild had taken this matter seriously, and thousands of Arcanists were actively finding clues about them.
With such a large movement, it was quite normal to see some progress from time to time.
Lisa glanced into the orb, then handed it back.
"I'll deal with it later."
They went through more reports.
Aside from them, this tower actually had about 50 Arcanists working within. From time to time, they would send updates or reports about their progress.
These include the Rune Arts researchers who were trying to stabilize a long-range detection spell that the tower itself could use.
There were also some Alchemists who had just made another batch of high-grade potions.
At this time, Lisa picked up the reports of the Psychic Arts Team, telling them about the erratic behavior in two of the summoned beasts from the Beast Arts division.
"They should be able to resolve this…" Lisa muttered as she sat behind her desk.
Even though Luminara was one of the weakest kingdoms, the presence of the tower, the time manipulators, and Lisa herself gave the place an invisible strength.
By mid-morning, she left the tower and walked to the training grounds…
Dozens of young Arcanists were already practicing.
She watched them silently for a moment. She was quite satisfied since most had already reached First Class.
The Marshall Academy was doing a lot better than she thought.
Indeed, the Marshall Academy that Vale built had accepted students all over the continent.
"Lady Lisa!" one of the younger girls called out.
She was using Holy Arts and Dark Arts... It was two opposite Paths, and they weren't supposed to practice them at the same time.
However, this young girl just wanted to be different.
"Can you show us how you channel through multiple paths?"
Practicing multiple Arcane Paths means that you have to obtain different types of Arcane Energy within your body.
It was not an easy matter unless you had learned a special technique you could use to convert it to the energy you needed.
In this case, only the Marshall Academy had a foolproof method. It was all thanks to Magnus's assistance.
After all, Magnus was the strongest human out there since he was capable of practicing 12 Arcane Paths before even meeting Vale.
It must be remembered that he was also the one who had trapped the two Dragons, Ryzoir and Orden, in the basement of his castle.
With the knowledge he shared with the Professors, the method to practice multiple Arcane Paths had become the greatest asset of the Marshall Academy!
"Very well… Watch me carefully." Lisa said as she walked over and demonstrated a simple but refined technique. She targeted a dummy and used a Holy Arts' Smite Spell. Then, she used her Dark Arts' Shadow Wave to contain the target.
From this demonstration, she showed how she conjures Holy Energy and converts it to Dark Energy through the fast transition of her Phantasm State to Blessed Sense.
Lisa wanted to say something more, but then, she frowned…
Magnus had just used telepathy to warn her about the Chaos Immortals!
