Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

This was the first time Dacheng felt raw terror. He was right outside before he ran inside a building and locked the door behind him. But he would never forget how close he was to death just a few hours ago.

He thought that he was going to die!

As someone who almost lost his life, he could not understand what Yu Miaomiao was doing by not lowering her head in front of Bai Meiyue. Just what was she trying to do?

"Ah, our chief has lost her mind." Though Chief Lin never spoke ill of Yu Miaomiao, he couldn't stop himself this time around. He agreed with what Dacheng said; at that moment, they needed to join hands with Bai Meiyue and Lei Qian. The two of them, together with Bai Feng, could have easily cleared up the entire tide of the mutated bugs. But Yu Miaomiao was being foolish. She was determined to corner Bai Meiyue.

Don't look down on that woman. Even though the woman was pregnant, she was still an ability user whose power had long broken past the fourth level. Which meant that she could easily kill these mutated bugs. He had watched her course of action.

Bai Meiyue might look like she was getting tired, but there was no way she was going to run out of fuel anytime soon. She was still controlling her energy around the Sunshine Complex, and every time the mutated bugs tried to fly past the third floor, they would be frozen to death. A woman as skilled as her would never be pushed down.

Bai Meiyue was not close to falling back, but they were running out of time. If this went on, then he was worried that the mutated bugs would end up doubling in numbers, or maybe they might even triple. If that happened, then how would they control their population?

Unfortunately, Yu Miamiao was not worried about that. She only wanted to make Bai Meiyue submit. She was still furious that the woman had killed so many researchers. Ones who could have helped her with her research, she was truly mourning the loss of the many researchers and the knowledge that was lost with them. But they were already dead; what could be done? So the one who had to pay back was Bai Meiyue.

Chief Lin couldn't believe that even at such an important juncture, where all of their lives were at risk, Yu Miaomiao wanted to find a way to corner Bai Meiyue.

"I have to say that Chief Yu is being a bit too cruel; she was the one who took these people in, and now she is letting them die such horrible deaths. I heard that she is still looking for an antidote for the doomsday virus; she hadn't even thought about finding a cure for the Corpse Plague when it is the most pressing matter." Upon getting a hint from Dacheng, Lu Yin softly whispered in Chief Lin's ears.

Chief Lin was indeed a hard-hearted and cold person, but he was someone who wouldn't simply stay quiet and watch so many lives lost in front of him without blinking his eyes. He couldn't help but think that Yu Miaomiao was indeed going too far by ignoring the lives of these people without bothering about anything else.

Was fame really that important that she was willing to exchange it for the lives of so many innocents?

They were not the only ones who were filled with condemnation and anger toward Yu Miaomiao. In a manor far from the building where Chief Lin and the others were, Fox was staring at the sight in front of him with a frown. He stared at the wave of mutated bugs that was rising and falling before taking another round of survivors down with them. The scent of flesh, blood and fear oozed from all over the streets.

He glanced at his watch before turning to the ability users behind him. "Go and help Lei Qian. Bring him here as soon as possible. I am afraid that Bai Meiyue will not be able to hold on for a long time."

She had turned the entire building into a defence weapon, but with her pregnant belly, Fox was worried that they would lose more than they would gain. If Bai Meiyue lost that child while defending against these mutated bugs when they stood back and watched the drama, she would never stay silent. She would kill every single person in the base.

Yu Miaomiao was a fool. She was running with maniacal energy and could not understand such a simple thing.

And forget about Bai Meiyue; if the child got lost or if Bai Meiyue miscarried, then this entire base would be turned into a sea of flames. Only fools would go to the extreme, but Yu Miaomiao was not a fool. She was a crazy hag.

"But Chief Yu–"

"Do you want to fucking die!" Fox snapped. His blue eyes flashed with anger. He turned and looked at the man behind him and said to him, "That woman cannot hold on for long; she is five months along. If she pushes herself too much, she is bound to miscarry. Do you think that we will be able to stay alive if that happens? We will be fucking tormented and killed by that very woman whom Yu Miaomiao is trying to swallow."

He turned and looked at the building that had turned into a freezer with icicles popping out from all over the walls. Though she had shown what she was capable of, Fox wouldn't dare to push her past this limit.

He said, "Now go! If you want to live."

The man behind him turned around and rushed right out of the office without looking back.

Fox, on the other hand, turned to look at the window once again. He hoped that Lei Qian would arrive sooner, or else this stalemate of wait and watch would turn into a war that they were bound to lose.

"A mother's fury —I hope I will not see it." Fox muttered.
