Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Bai Meiyue collected a few crystal nuclei to study, and then watched the rest of the team collect the crystal nuclei and turned around to walk inside the penthouse. She was tired after moving for so long; after all, she was more than four months pregnant. How could she stay as active as she was in the past? She yawned and turned to look at the rest of the team before saying to them, "You can dump the useless corpses of the bugs in the bush pot. They will clean it up."

No one understood what Bai Meiyue was saying, but that was until someone dumped a few dead bugs in the bush that was lined on the left. The second the bush got hold of the dead bugs, it swallowed them all without missing anything. Seeing this, the rest of the team started to grow excited and started playing a game.

Bai Meiyue watched them playing and shook her head before turning around on her feet and heading back home.

As soon as she returned, Mother Bai took hold of her hand and questioned, "What should we do now? How are we going to move in a matter of a few days? I just counted; we have a bunch of stuff, including some gas containers and solar panels. How can we move them all without letting others know that we are leaving without returning?"

Bai Meiyue's eyes flickered. She thought for a while before saying to her mother, "Come with me."

Then, without waiting for her mother to say anything, Bai Meiyue made her way to the storehouse. Mother Bai could not understand what her daughter was trying to do, but she still followed her. Once the two women arrived at the storehouse, Bai Meiyue waved her hand and collected all the supplies that she had collected.

When Mother Bai saw that the things inside the storehouse had disappeared, her eyes turned as wide as saucers. She turned to look at Bai Meiyue and asked, "This—what is this?"

"I awakened another power other than ice and water," replied Bai Meiyue. Since she had told this lie many times, she was now proficient in speaking it. She calmly said to her mother, "This ability is called 'space'; it's like having a storage space which has no limit. I can collect almost everything inside it without running out of space. So you don't need to worry about leaving anything behind. Just pack everything up that you would need and go to the manor, which we have cleaned up with brother."

Mother Bai was shocked. She was still reeling from the shock of discovering that the things that her daughter had collected when Bai Meiyue told her that she had another ability. The more Bai Meiyue spoke about this ability, the more shocked Mother Bai became.

She glanced around and then turned to look at Bai Meiyue before saying to her, "You should keep this ability to yourself and never tell it to anyone. I am afraid that if they find out, they would try to capture you even more."

Mother Bai didn't know how to feel. She was happy that her daughter was so skilled, but at the same time, she was worried. Yu Miaomiao was already targeting Bai Meiyue because her daughter was a rather strong ability user. If the woman found out that her daughter had awakened another ability, then that woman would certainly not leave Bai Meiyue alone.

Just look at this; the last time they doubted that there was something wrong and unique about the soil of their greenhouse and they tried to take over it as if the greenhouse belonged to them. They didn't even ask for permission. This alone showed how greedy and ruthless Yu Miaomiao was; she would do just about anything.

Bai Meiyue nodded. She said to her mother, "Don't worry, Mom. I will not tell this to anyone." She paused, "Have you cooked something? I am feeling a bit hungry."

"I have made some egg fried rice. You can eat that if you like," said Mother Bai. She sounded a bit distracted, and Bai Meiyue suddenly had a sense of foreboding; she was worried that her mother was going to become even more protective.

And when she woke up in the evening and wanted to go outside on a walk, her suspicions came true. Her mother rushed out of the kitchen and asked, "Where are you going, Yueyue?"

Bai Meiyue didn't pause. She knew that her mother was going to become even more coddling now that she had relayed to her that she had three powers. It was a good thing that she had never brought up the barter system; Bai Meiyue was afraid that her mother would have tied her to a bed.

She replied without looking behind her, "I am going on my daily walk, Mom. I also need to run a check around the perimeter to know the conditions of the base." The aftermath of the flesh-eating bugs was not going to be simple, and she needed to be aware of everything that was going on around her. Or else, Bai Meiyue was worried that she would be blindsided by something that would ruin things for her.

She glanced at her mother through her peripheral view, and dang, she was absolutely right when she thought about how her mother wanted to lock her up in the house.

With that thought in her mind, she increased her pace and hurried out of the penthouse. Seeing her daughter run from her, Mother Bai was speechless. She thought about the disgusting bugs that had attacked the base and chased after her daughter. She said to Bai Meiyue, "Stay at home for a few days; don't try to play the hero. You can leave these matters to your brothers."

"They are sleeping and tired; how can I ask them to do this for me?" Bai Meiyue said to her mother, and as she hurried out of the penthouse, and before her mother could stop her, she had already walked past the electric door.
