Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Chapter 558: See Who Is It

"If you were that worried about your children, then you should have gone to fight the zombies instead. You fools should have looked at yourselves and then taken a look at my brother; he is an ability user. Of course, his children would be ability users as well and awaken as one, but who are you? Is any one of you an ability user? If not, then what kind of foolish hopes did you have when you sent your kids to fight the zombies? Who can you blame other than yourselves?"

Once Bai Meiyue finished speaking, she closed the door on the faces of the troublemakers and turned around to walk inside of the house. She didn't care about the troublemakers, nor did she care about the grief that they were suffering from. The one who tied the bell should be the one who unties it.

It was their fault that they made a decision without thinking it through. If they had stopped in time and thought things through, then they would have known that there was no way their children even had a chance. After all, even in adults, only forty per cent of adults were awakening as ability users. This was when the immunity systems of the adults were much more developed than those of children.

It also came down to heredity.

Thus, less than twenty per cent of children awakened as an ability user. And the chances of the children whose parents were ability users awakening as one were higher. As for those who were not ability users, it depended on their luck. These people were outrageous fools who didn't think things through and sent their children to face the zombies without giving them proper gear to protect themselves.

In fact, if they had waited, then there was a chance that the children would have awakened once they had gotten stronger. But these people were in a hurry and pressured their children into doing something that they didn't want to do.

Bai Meiyue shook her head and returned home, while the troublemakers had no other choice but to return in shame as well. They had thought that Bai Meiyue would show them some sympathy; at least she would feel a bit guilty about them losing their children, but they never thought that the woman was just so heartless that she didn't even listen to a thing that they had to say. Nor did she feel upset over the fact that they had lost their children.

She was simply cold-hearted and cruel!

Nothing seemed to work on her, whether it was the soft or hard approach.

Once Bai Meiyue returned home, she freshened up and started doing some pregnancy exercises to keep her body moving. Ever since she had gotten five months pregnant, no one allowed her to go anywhere, and she had no other choice but to stay at home and lie on her bed all day long. She was bored out of her mind, and her body was not getting any movement either.

That was when she remembered the exercise CDs that Shen Zhen had given her. At first, she had used them for a while and then given up because she thought that there was no point in doing so, as she was moving enough already. But now that she wasn't going out of the house, she recalled these CDs and pulled them out of the box where they were hiding.

With them around, at least she could move a little.

Mother Bai looked at the bloodied chainsaw and turned to look at her daughter. She could not help but say, "Yueyue, are you sure that you don't want to control that temper of yours? What will your child learn if you continue to be this bloodthirsty all the time?" No matter what happened, her daughter would only come up with one solution for all the trouble.

Violence.

It was fine at the beginning, but now that she was pregnant with a child, it was not a good influence for the child if the mother was this violent. Even if the child was not born, the things that his mother saw and did still influenced him.

Bai Meiyue knew what her mother was thinking. She rolled her waist to one side and then to another before saying to her mother, "It will do him some good if he learns how to fight people like his mother. No one will trouble him, nor will they take advantage of him when he grows up."

If anything, Bai Meiyue wished that Little Cai Cai would be born with a temper like hers. In the past, she was too soft, and her son was just as soft as well, which was not good. Now that she was no longer taking anyone's nonsense, she hoped that her son would grow up to be the same kind of person.

When Mother Bai heard her response, she was speechless. She closed her eyes and then breathed to ten before turning to look at her daughter before saying to her, "You really need to tame that temper of yours, Yueyue. Don't you go teaching such things to my grandson!" The last thing she needed was a grandson who was laughing and giggling while holding a retractable dagger. That would be quite a terrifying sight for her to behold.

She patted her chest and turned around while muttering to herself.

However, she hadn't even taken a few steps when the sound of the doorbell rang again. Mother Bai paused and turned to look at the door before turning to look at Bai Meiyue. She said in confusion, "Is it those troublemakers again?"

They didn't get any favours from Bai Meiyue; thus, Mother Bai was worried that the troublemakers had come back and were now adamant on causing trouble once again.

"There is no need to worry, Mom. I will go and see who it is," said Bai Meiyue as she got to her feet and turned to walk out of the house. As she stepped out, she hurriedly took out a butcher knife to protect herself.
