Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

"Are you?" Mother Bai scoffed. She, too, didn't want to say such harsh words to her daughter, but who asked Bai Meiyue to be this bold? Her daughter actually snuck out of the house when everyone was asleep, and only heaven knew where she went and what kind of dangerous mission she was taking on.

Maybe she might not even find out about it. However, Mother Bai knew her daughter well enough to know that she was doing something dangerous. She glared at Bai Meiyue pointedly and then said to her, "You keep saying that you love this child, but if you do, then you should show it. By putting yourself in danger, you are putting the child in your belly in danger, too. Do you think it's alright for you to take risks when you are carrying a child?"

Bai Meiyue wanted to speak, but Mother Bai didn't give her the chance; she raised her hand and pointed at the stairs before saying to Bai Meiyue, "I don't want to hear it, young lady. You better go back upstairs and reflect on your actions; there is no need to take any more missions for the next few days."

Bai Meiyue didn't have any plans to go outside for a while either; thus, she could only purse her lips and walk upstairs without any comment. However, as soon as she opened the door, another obstacle was waiting for her. Her eyes fell on the man who was sitting on the edge of the bed with his arms and legs crossed.

It was a mark of Lei Qian's aura that even when the man was smiling, Bai Meiyue felt a chill climb up her spine. She pursed her lips and questioned, "What are you doing here?" though she tried to sound nonchalant. Bai Meiyue still felt a slight tremor in her voice and had to clear her throat.

"Why don't you tell me?" Lei Qian, instead of answering her question, asked a question in return. He was still smiling as he said to Bai Meiyue, "What am I doing here?" He unfolded his arms and slowly got to his feet as he walked over to where Bai Meiyue was standing, causing the woman to take a step away from her.

She heard him say, "Imagine my surprise when I came to look for you, worried that you wouldn't be able to sleep, and in return, what I found was nothing but a bunch of pillows. Yueyue, how many times do I have to tell you that Xiao Cai is not your son alone? You can't put my son in danger like this all the time."

"What do you mean by putting your son in danger?" Bai Meiyue was speechless and a little angry. What did he mean by that? She was putting her son's life in danger. When he wasn't with her, then she cared for her son on her own.

Why does everyone keep telling her that she was not taking care of her son when the truth was that she was doing everything that she could to make sure that her son would live a life without danger! Why did she take these risks? Wasn't it because she was worried that the tiger gang would become a danger to her son?

She glared at Lei Qian and said to him, "I am doing this because I want him to live without worry. I don't want to tell him that he should stay careful and look over his shoulder all the time. As long as I eliminate my enemies before he is born, he will live a life without any fear!"

"Who am I doing this for?!" Then, without letting the man speak, she turned around on her feet and went to the guest room. She didn't want to see the face of this man or anyone else for the time being.

The sound of their quarrelling had long penetrated and reached the living hall.

Mother Bai and the two Bai brothers peered upstairs, and when they saw Bai Meiyue marching down the corridor, they couldn't help but frown. It seemed like their sister/daughter had really lost her temper this time around.

The three of them looked at one another before Bai Jixuan shrugged his shoulders and said in a careless attitude, "He is the one who made her angry, since he is the one who did it. He should take care of it."

If it were any other time, Mother Bai and Bai Zhan would have contradicted him, but this time around, they didn't say anything. For they knew that an angry pregnant woman was just as tamed as a T. rex.

"How dare they! How could they?!" Bai Meiyue angrily flailed her arms and legs as she complained to her son, "Who do they think I am working so hard for? Isn't it for you? How dare they say that I am putting your life in danger? As if I am doing such a risky thing!"

However, her son stayed quiet. It was clear that he was in no mood to support her, his mother. When Bai Meiyue saw this, she was even angrier. If it were Lei Qian, she was sure that Little Cai would be jumping around in her belly. But now that she was the one who was asking the question, her son had turned quiet all of a sudden. This little thing!

Bai Meiyue pouted her lips and poked her son. "You traitor."

After throwing a tantrum, Bai Meiyue was a bit tired. She yawned and closed her eyes, not bothering to pay attention to anyone. Soon her breathing turned smooth, and the door of the guest room pushed open, and in came the man whom she was avoiding.

"You heartless minx!" Lei Qian shook his head when he saw Bai Meiyue sleeping peacefully. He was worried the entire night and couldn't even sleep, and yet this woman was sleeping peacefully. The more he looked at her, the more Lei Qian felt a bit angry—in the end he just couldn't help but lean close and….
