Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Chapter 464: Returning to the base

Lei Qian left to see what was inside the coop, while Bai Meiyue summoned the water hydra, which she released in the mansion, and killed the remaining zombies that were hiding in the rooms and the corners. It didn't take long for her to collect more than a hundred crystal nuclei, which she threw in the space pocket.

Ciyi walked right next to Bai Meiyue like a guardian. Her eyes flickered left and right, and she would attack every time something weird came out of the hidden corners. With the water hydra and Ciyi protecting her, Bai Meiyue didn't care about anything. She walked past the corridor at a light pace while looking for supplies.

In this villa, the family had long turned into zombies. With so many zombies lingering inside the mansion, no one dared to come inside. Thus, even though it had been many months since the apocalypse started, the supplies inside were well preserved. Bai Meiyue used the water hydra to kill all the zombies and then walked past the many rooms that were in the villa.

Though she found a lot of good things, the one room that she liked the most was at the end of the corridor. It must have belonged to a child. There were many picture books and storybooks that were placed in the small bookshelf. Bai Meiyue walked inside and then pulled a book randomly.

She looked at the book and flipped it open. It was a book on why not to follow strangers, and Bai Meiyue thought it was really good. There were also some books on bad and good touch. There were also some storybooks with dragons and princes. Bai Meiyue thought that these were really good for some light reading.

Maybe she would start reading them to her son when her pregnancy started advancing a bit more.

She turned to look at the rest of the room and realised that it must have belonged to a boy around the age of eight or ten. There was a life-size robot as well as some toys, which included trucks and cars. There were also crayons and some books on animals and plants. Bai Meiyue thought that they were useless for the time being, as the world had turned upside down.

Bai Meiyue placed everything in the space pocket, as she didn't want them to stay out and collect dust. These toys were too big for her son, but one day he would certainly play with them.

As she pulled things out of the cases, Bai Meiyue inhaled a lot of dust and coughed out loud. She waved her hand in front of her and sighed. If this mansion were a bit cleaner, then she would have moved in just a few weeks later, but it seemed like they needed to do more than just some cleaning.

She packed everything in her space pocket and then left the room. As she climbed down the stairs, she saw her brothers collecting the grains and other supplies that they had found in the mansion. She looked at the supplies that her brothers had collected and said, "Leave a little. We will be moving here soon."

Since she had decided that they would be moving, Bai Meiyue was certain that she was going to move in a few weeks. There was no point in collecting so many supplies only for them to bring everything back.

When Bai Jixuan heard her words, he nodded and turned to look at Bai Zhan, who simply said, "Put them in a room and close it with a lock. Anyway, with so many zombies outside, survivors would not come to this region."

Bai Jixuan was used to following his elder brother. Thus, when he heard his brother say that they could put the grains in a room and use it to store the grains, he nodded and said to him, "Alright, I will do as you say, big brother."

Bai Meiyue watched her brothers put the supplies in a room and then walked to the backyard, where she found Lei Qian. He had taken off his coat and rolled up his sleeves as he tied the chicken that he had caught from the coop.

Sweat trickled down his forehead as he struggled with the chicken. Bai Meiyue was not surprised that he was having a hard time because the chicken that Lei Qian had caught was not like the chickens that were raised in the past. They were bigger than a cat, and their beaks hurt a lot when they pecked.

And that wasn't all. They had spikes growing out of their head, which hurt a lot if they scraped against the skin.

However, there were some benefits to raising these chickens as well. They were smarter than the chickens raised in the world before the end and could be trained to protect one's house. And they could also eat mutated worms and grains. Thus, they were easier to raise.

So as long as the poison in their meat could be solved, they could become a perfect poultry replacement.

Bai Meiyue watched Lei Qian tie the beaks of the chickens that were pecking him, and then brought them up with him and tied them around his waist. Bai Meiyue watched as the chickens glared at Lei Qian with hatred as if they were already promising to attack him the next time they saw him.

"It seems like they are really smart." Bai Meiyue remarked as she looked at the chickens who were staring at Lei Qian with resentful looks.

Lei Qian wiped the blood off his arms and turned to look at Bai Meiyue. He said, "Of course, do you even know how they made me chase after them?" When Lei Qian thought about how these things had made him run around the entire backyard, he wished he could roast and eat these chickens. But when he thought about the poison in their bodies, he restrained himself.

However, he had already made up his mind to kill the big black hen that had caused him the most damage.
