Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

"Can I take the gold bars for myself?" Bai Meiyue questioned as she tapped her foot on the floor.

Lei Qian looked at her and nodded. "You can. Since you like gold so much, you can have it." Anyway, this gold was of no use to him; even if he was the one who collected the gold, this gold was simply an added benefit for him. He never wanted to move it, as he knew that many lives were lost; only then was the politician able to move this much gold from the vault without anyone finding out.

As for those whose lives were ruined by this theft, he hadn't even counted them yet.

When Bai Meiyue heard Lei Qian say that she could keep the gold, her eyes lit up. She looked down at the floor and carefully surveyed the trapdoor that was only a few feet away from her, and nodded. She was going to clean up this treasure chest in a while.

With the gold in her hands, Bai Meiyue started looking around the mansion. She found a few bags of rice that had been half eaten, millet and a few packets of beef jerky and bacon. As she rummaged through the many chests in the mansion, she found a few bottles of mineral water. When she thought about how the real gold was thrown in the basement and water bottles were moved to chests, she couldn't help but sigh.

The world had really twisted itself around. In the past, people would keep the gold in the treasure chests while they left the mineral water on the streets, and now the mineral water bottles were being hidden and secured like they were real treasures. What a shame.

Bai Meiyue threw them aside as she didn't need them. With her abilities, Bai Meiyue didn't even need to think about getting worried about running out of water.

She walked around the room and walked over to the balcony. When she saw the mutated plants, her eyes flashed with a hint of wariness. She picked up the water bottle and threw it on the balcony. As soon as she threw the balcony, one of the plants twisted itself around and hurled a few thorns at the bottle, piercing it and shattering it into pieces.

When Bai Meiyue saw the sight in front of her, she sucked in a breath and so did Lei Qian, who had just arrived on the balcony. He immediately pulled her back and then shot a few flames at the mutated plants, burning them to bits.

"What do you think you are doing?" Lei Qian asked with a hint of a frown on his face.

Bai Meiyue simply blinked her eyes and furrowed her brows. She then turned to look at Lei Qian before saying to him, "Why did you burn those things? We could have used them as protective devices for our mansion."

When Lei Qian heard her response, he was amused and exasperated. He said to her, "These are plants. They might have mutated, but they are not sentient yet; you cannot train them like Ciyi."

Only then did Bai Meiyue realise that the sentient plants were yet to appear, and these plants couldn't be controlled. Her eyes flickered with sheepishness as she said to him, "I see."

She then turned to look at the raging flames and then doused them with water. Once the plants were burned to ashes, Bai Meiyue walked to the balcony. She looked around the garden and finally found a little coop that was not far from where she was standing.

Pointing at it, she said to Lei Qian, "Go and take a look at it. If there are a few chickens, then you bring them inside. Kill a few and roast them with spices that I have brought."

"Are you sure?" Lei Qian asked with a frown.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, can we even eat them? Didn't you say that mutated animals cannot be eaten?" Lei Qian remembered what Bai Meiyue had told him: that they could not eat the meat of the mutated animals.

Lei Qian had been eating the chicken and eggs as well as the pheasants that Bai Meiyue and her family raised. Thus, he had never stooped so low as to eat the meat of the mutated animals.

Thus, he was a bit hesitant about eating the meat of the mutated animals. These things could not be eaten as they were poisonous.

Bai Meiyue arched a brow and smiled at the man before saying, "Who do you think you are speaking to? Do you think that I can't do something so simple?" with the medical skills that she had gained, creating a special spice that could take care of the poison of the mutated animals in one single minute.

When Lei Qian heard her words, he thought about the medical skills that Bai Meiyue had awakened, and his eyes flickered with a hint of surprise. He said to her, "You can also take care of something like this?"

"Of course," Bai Meiyue said with a hint of a smile on her lips. This was something that she could do with even her eyes closed.

Listening to the confident tone, Lei Qian was a bit encouraged. However, when he thought about the child in Bai Meiyue's belly, he still tried to persuade her, "Yueyue, why don't we kill the pig that we are raising at home? If you want to eat meat, then we can kill the pig, and you can eat fresh pork."

"That's fine, isn't it?"

However, as soon as he finished speaking, Bai Meiyue turned and shot him an aggrieved look on her face. Seeing the look on her face, Lei Qian was speechless. He sighed and then said to her, "Fine, I will go and see if there are any mutated animals that you can eat." Worst comes to worst, he would bite the bullet and eat first. If he felt even a little bit of uneasiness, he would rather die than let Bai Meiyue eat the meat of the mutated animals.
