Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

When the old woman saw the blank eyes of her son, her entire head started buzzing.

"Son…son…" She shook the man in her arms again and again. But the man never woke up, nor did he answer the old woman. Seeing this, the old woman was filled with regret. If she had known that this was going to happen, then she would have listened to Bai Meiyue and burned the corpse of her granddaughter.

Look at this! Because of her stupid actions, her son was dead.

"AHHHHH!"

"AHHHH!"

The old woman screamed in pain, but she didn't even have the time to mourn the death of her son because a few seconds later, she felt something stir under her skin. She raised her hand and looked down. When she saw something wriggling inside her skin, a terrified scream tore through her mouth. She got to her feet and scrambled outside the room; her nails scratched her skin harshly as if she wished to tear off her skin and take the maggots out.

But there were so many mutated maggots in her apartment, hiding in crooks and corners, that she couldn't even get out of her room when she was overwhelmed by them.

"ARGH!"

When the old woman pushed open the door and dropped into the corridor, everyone in the corridor turned to look at the old woman who was being eaten by the mutated maggots. Seeing this, the entire crowd started to panic and fled.

"Help! Help!" one of the survivors rushed downstairs and called for help from the soldiers. "There are worms eating humans! Those maggots are eating living humans!"

When the soldiers heard the word of man, they frowned hard and looked at one another. The soldier on the left turned to look at the man and said, "What do you mean that there are maggots that are eating living humans? How can worms as tiny as them eat humans? Have you finally lost it?"

"I am speaking the truth," the man stammered as he pointed to the building. "There were so many maggots. From her mouth, eyes… they were pouring out of every single orifice of that old woman. You have to do something!"

"What's going on?" Master Li walked over with Dacheng when he heard the sound of quarrelling. Dacheng also looked at the direction of the man who was causing trouble and frowned hard when he saw that the man was making trouble for no reason.

Master Li's appearance made the man even more agitated. He looked at him and said, "You are soldiers, right? You have to do something to save us! There are maggots that are eating humans. You need to do something!"

As soon as Master Li heard the words of the man, his brows furrowed, and he looked around the street. When he saw that people were looking over, he turned stern and said to the soldiers, "What are you waiting for? This man is causing trouble in public by spreading rumours. Why are you not arresting him?" He then spoke in a loud voice, "There is no way there will be an appearance of maggots that can eat humans. We have everything in control; people can live in the base without any worry."

The second he finished speaking, the soldiers caught the man and started dragging him away.

"You cannot do this to me!" the man shouted angrily, "I have done nothing wrong. I am saying the truth. There are mutated maggots that are eating humans!"

"They are killing living humans!"

"Shut him up!" Master Li shouted, and the soldiers covered the mouth of the man as they dragged him along with them.

When the other survivors saw what happened to the man, they didn't dare to say another word. What were they going to do now that things had become like this?

When Bai Jixuan saw the actions of the soldiers, he couldn't help but frown. However, he didn't say anything, as one of the soldiers who was dragging the man away was Wang Ba. When he saw Wang Ba, the latter also raised his head and looked at him but lowered his head right away because he had never thought of meeting with Bai Jixuan so soon.

He was worried that Bai Jixuan would come to question him, but Wang Ba obviously thought too much. He seemed to have overestimated his value in Bai Jixuan's eyes, as the man never took another look at him and turned to walk away.

When Wang Ba saw Bai Jixuan walk away, he heaved a sigh of relief but at the same time, he smiled mockingly. It seemed like his decision to leave was right! Look at this; he had no importance in Bai Jixuan's eyes. Director Feng and Wen Mian were fools who were determined to follow Bai Meiyue and her team.

He dragged the man away while Bai Jixuan headed upstairs. When he arrived at the penthouse, he ran into Bai Meiyue and Bai Zhan, who were discussing something with Lei Qian.

"What's going on?" Bai Jixuan asked as he walked inside. He took off the jacket that he was wearing and then placed it on the rack.

"It's nothing," Bai Meiyue answered as she turned to look at her second brother. "We were talking about spreading out and looking for a new place to stay. If we stay here, things will become troublesome." She then told Bai Jixuan about the mutated maggots that she found in the bathing room.

When Bai Jixuan heard that there were indeed mutated maggots in the building, his expression changed, and he told Bai Meiyue about what had happened earlier. "Don't you think that they are being too much? They didn't even investigate anything and concluded that the man was lying."

"They are just doing damage control," said Bai Meiyue with a calm expression. She had expected such a thing to happen, as she knew the character of the people under Yu Miaomiao. They would do anything in their power to make it look like they had everything under their control, until or unless things went out of control.
