Chapter 261: Ye Xuan's Advise
"While that may delay the development of the members, it also protects the legacy of the sect. It is better to introduce it later than do it now and risk being betrayed.
I don't think our teammates will betray us, but as the saying goes, walls have ears. If the issue of cultivation reaches the wrong ears too early, it might attract a crowd of spies planted in our sect to gain access to our legacy and use it in other groups.
The problem is not having other people gain access to information about cultivation, but having them use it to oppress others, kill, and rob. I don't think that was the aim of the Chu family ancestors when they left the legacy for their descendants." Ye Xuan broke down the negative effect of spreading the cultivation techniques too early and Chu Miao felt that he made sense.
As such, she decided to hold back until the flood had ended and most of the unreliable people moved to the government safe bases before introducing cultivation techniques to the members who have spirit roots and could cultivate.
While the two were talking, they heard a commotion on the deck. Upon listening carefully, Chu Miao could hear her brother telling the others not to panic and to move aside.
"I'll go see what's happening." She said and got up to leave the helm of the boat.
When she arrived at the deck, she found a few soldiers holding one down while other people stayed a short distance away.
"What's going on here?" Chu Miao asked as she walked to the place the soldiers were holding the other down.
"He is infected and is mutating. We don't know how to handle him." one soldier helping to hold the victim down said.
"Does he have a bite or scratch wound anywhere?" Chu Miao asked calmly while squatting next to the soldier.
When the others saw how calm Chu Miao was, they also started to feel their anxiety going down. They had been too flustered when they saw the soldier fall to his side and start convulsing that they didn't even think about checking for wounds.
"We haven't checked yet." Qi Long replied to Chu Miao.
"Then how do you know that he is infected?" Chu Miao asked the crucial question when she heard their reply.
"Well, he suddenly fell down and started to convulse, so we thought that he was infected and that was a sign he was mutating." Fu Nie replied this time and Chu Miao sighed deeply.
The fear of getting infected by the zombie virus had made people somewhat careless when it came to dealing with sick individuals. Now, even a cold could be mistaken for mutation and that could lead to unimaginable consequences.
Even though these people had made the wrong judgment in haste, she was glad that they didn't jump to eliminate the affected soldier for fear of him affecting them.
Chu Miao placed her fingers on the wrist of the soldier and used her spiritual power to investigate the situation in his body. The results surprised her.
It looked like that fight had not been in vain. The high level of danger and the effort the soldier had put in fighting had benefitted him. The medicine he had taken also helped to trigger a mutation probably earlier than anticipated.
"He is mutating indeed, but not into a zombie." Chu Miao said to the still worried people surrounding her.
"Bunny, what's happening to him?" Chu Hao asked his sister because even he had thought that the guy was turning into a zombie.
Chu Miao really wanted to tell her brother to stop calling her that in front of others but she knew that it would only fall on deaf ears and probably encourage him to be even more ostentatious. So, she pretended not to know the name he had called her by and focused on the important part.
"He is awakening a superpower. He wasn't bitten or scratched by a zombie. It's just that him brushing shoulders a few times during the fight had triggered an awakening. You guys just continue to hold him down for a while until he calms down so that he doesn't hurt himself." Chu Miao told the curious people what was happening so that they could stop worrying so much.
"Fighting fish could actually help in awakening superpowers?" one soldier who had not awakened asked in surprise.
If that was the case, then he wanted to go find more fish to fight so that he can awaken a superpower too.
"Not necessarily. It is a combination of various factors including the level of danger and other circumstances." Chu Miao replied to the fool who thought fighting fish would definitely lead to awakening.
"Oh! I thought that if I fight with more fish I will be able to awaken a superpower." The soldier said with some dejection.
"Superpowers do not define us. Even ordinary people have their own value. You shouldn't give yourself pressure because of something that is out of your control. If you are meant to awaken, your time will come and you will awaken.
I bet this guy here didn't know that he could awaken out of the blue like today. So, don't stress about such things. It will not help your situation.
Also, there are other ways to get stronger other than awakening superpower. You just have to be patient." Chu Miao added when she realized that her pep talk wasn't working as well as expected.
The soldiers may not have understood what Chu Miao was talking about, but the Li family members were aware that the Chu family had the means to make people stronger.
This could be seen from the way, both Chu Miao and her brother were able to transmit their messages without raising their voice.
They had already experienced it twice and knew that it was possible to do more than just that. Moreover, the medicine they had just taken also proved that the things they had were not simple.
Both Li Kian and Li Han would not believe it if they were told that the soldier's awakening had nothing to do with that medicine
