Apocalypse: Mad Necromancer’s Troops

Chapter 32: Mrs. Slater?

Chapter 32: Mrs. Slater?

The three mutated dogs continued to circle around with the zombies.

Although Wu Heng had cleared the area twice, scattered zombies were still drawn to the noise and started approaching.

But the mutated dogs showed no signs of stopping, occasionally darting back to viciously bite at the zombies.

Before other zombies could gather around, they would turn and continue running.

They had truly mastered the art of kiting.

As they toyed with the zombies, a sound of impact suddenly came from the side.

Thud~ thud~ thud thud!

The three mutated dogs abruptly halted.

Following the sound, they saw a strange-looking skeleton dog, its front paws wrapped around the steel pole of a bulletin board, swaying its hips.

Its hollow eye sockets stared in their direction from afar.

Meanwhile, its lower body continued to sway.

The mutated dogs stared in surprise at the skeleton dog, which then released its grip on the pole, its hollow eyes still fixed in their direction.

The mutated dogs cautiously took a few steps forward, and the skeleton dog retreated a few steps.

Seeing that the skeleton dog was timid, the three mutated dogs ignored the zombies behind them and charged at the skeleton dog.

The skeleton dog wiggled its hips a few more times before turning and running toward the building ahead.

It quickly dashed into the hallway of the building.

The three mutated dogs, not stopping for a moment, shot into the hallway like arrows.

They chased up to the fourth floor, where they finally halted, eyeing the densely packed humanoid skeletons on the stairs.

Turning to leave, they found the way behind them blocked by more skeletons flooding in.

Wielding cleavers, the skeletons charged at them.

Skeletons from both above and below simultaneously launched an attack.

Crowding together, they swarmed the three bewildered mutated dogs.

The sounds of intense collisions and fighting echoed through the hallway.

……

Wu Heng and Barson stood outside.

Leading the remaining skeleton warriors, they cleared out the zombies that had followed the mutated dogs.

These zombies had been attracted from the surrounding area, and their numbers were gradually growing.

Once most of the zombies were cleared out, the fighting in the hallway also neared its end.

Click~!

The sound of a lock being opened came from the hallway door.

Sword One and Sword Two, covered in blood and looking a bit worse for wear, walked out.

It seemed the battle was over.

Wu Heng, along with Barson, immediately entered the hallway.

The skeleton warriors standing on the stairs were already in standby mode, standing upright in their positions.

The floor was littered with scattered bones, indicating that quite a few skeleton warriors had been destroyed.

On the third and fourth floors, the mutilated corpses of the three mutated dogs lay in pieces.

"Bring them out!"

The skeletons worked together to carry the three mutated dogs out of the hallway and throw them onto the open ground.

Wu Heng first approached the black dog that looked like a horse and began casting 【Raise Skeleton】.

【Summoned creature exceeds summoner’s capacity; instability factors increased…】

As the Raise Skeleton spell was cast, a warning about instability factors appeared.

This had happened twice before, but nothing unusual had occurred.

It was still unclear where this instability might manifest.

Soon, the first skeletal dog stood up, shaking off the remaining flesh.

【Skeletal Hunting Dog (Level 7)】

Without its fur, it looked even more like a horse, its pale bones sturdy and its chest ribs unusually small, with hollow eye sockets glowing with a faint blue soul fire.

It turned out to be a level 7 skeletal dog, the same level as Barson.

"From now on, you’ll be called Slender Dog, got it?" Wu Heng said.

Slender Dog didn’t respond, just stood there.

Wu Heng didn’t care whether it understood or not. "Go, stand by over there."

Slender Dog moved aside, and Wu Heng used a short spear to dig through the remains.

Sure enough, he found a white, fleshy mass where the head used to be.

A corpse core.

Wu Heng’s heart leaped with joy.

This was valuable, even more so than the level 7 skeletal dog.

He had Sword One bring a plastic bag to store it, then continued casting Raise Skeleton on the remaining two corpses.

Two more skeletal dogs stood up in succession.

【Skeletal Hunting Dog (Level 5)】【Skeletal Hunting Dog (Level 5)】.

Both of these dogs were only level 5.

He had them stand by as well, then continued searching through the bodies.

Sure enough, he found two more corpse cores.

This time, he had gained three corpse cores in total—a tremendous harvest.

After carefully packing them away,

Wu Heng ordered the skeletons to return to the rooftop, instructing Sword One and Sword Two to keep an eye on the skeletal dogs before heading back to Blackstone Town.

……

Blackstone Town, Professionals' Association.

A muscular man with a battle axe finished collecting his bounty, and Wu Heng stepped up to the counter.

The staff member gave a professional smile, "Mr. Wu Heng, how can I assist you?"

Although he didn’t come here often, Wu Heng had become somewhat familiar with the staff.

Especially after the praise from the Town Hall, he had gained a bit of notoriety.

"I’d like to post a commission."

"You don’t need to wait in line to post a commission. Just fill out the form in the lounge and hand it to us."

There’s even something like that? No one had told him.

But it wasn’t anyone else’s fault—he just didn’t come here often.

"Oh, alright, I’ll fill it out and bring it next time."

The staff member smiled, "What kind of commission would you like to post?"

"An alchemy commission. I have a potion formula and need to have three potions made." Wu Heng pulled out the formula.

Last time he had a potion made, he included the formula in the order.

Now he could directly commission potions, skipping some tedious steps.

"Understood." After recording the request, the staff member said, "We’ll assign an alchemist to prepare it. It should be ready in two to three days."

"Alright!"

After finishing the paperwork, Wu Heng left the counter, and the next person stepped up with their inquiries.

……

Wu Heng stood in place, debating whether to stop by the lounge for a quick hello.

But then another staff member approached, "Mr. Wu Heng, Captain Otruluk has asked you to come to the Association."

Oh, great, now he couldn’t avoid it.

If he had known, he would have left earlier.

Entering the Fourth Squad’s lounge,

He opened the door and saw Kavina sitting on the couch, dressed in a beige short-sleeved top and tight leather pants, looking over some documents.

Her long, straight legs were especially eye-catching.

"Kavina!" Wu Heng greeted her first.

Kavina looked up at him with her beautiful eyes. "Let’s go, the steward and the captain are waiting for us."

"The steward? Is something going on?"

"I’m not sure. We’ll find out soon."

As they walked and talked, they arrived at the steward’s study.

They knocked lightly on the door, and after a response, they entered.

Inside the clean and tidy study sat three people.

The steward ‘Yazde,’ Captain ‘Otruluk,’ and a mature woman dressed in a form-fitting purple gown.

Her brown hair cascaded over her shoulders, her eyes were bright, her arched brows were long and elegant, and her figure was slim yet voluptuous.

Her legs were crossed, and beside her pale calves lay a leopard.

A leopard?

Was she really that fierce, keeping such a beast as a pet?

The leopard was about the same size as the mutated Teddy. If they fought, it would be interesting to see who would win.

"Steward, Mrs. Slater, Captain." Kavina spoke first, politely greeting the three.

Slater… Mrs. Slater?
