Chapter 150: Chapter 136: Zaboru Decorating ZEPS Offices

Monday, 30 December 1991

Even though it's still Holiday , Zaboru arrived at the ZAGE offices very early in the morning, carrying a large stack of his artwork and printed pictures. He had taken the time to enlarge them into poster-sized prints and carefully framed them, ready to be displayed throughout the office. Each piece was a tribute to the journey of ZAGE, capturing the essence of their accomplishments, games, and milestones.

His first destination was a special room in the office—a newly designated "Hall of Fame." This space was dedicated to celebrating the history of ZAGE and the impact of their creations on the gaming industry. The walls were soon adorned with framed memories, each one telling a story.

The first photograph he placed was a historic one—the moment when the very first ZAS system was completed. In the image, Zaboru stood proudly beside the console, a wide smile on his face, with Ayumi standing next to him, sharing in the joy. The next frame contained a picture from their first ZEPS promotional event at the park. Zaboru had dressed as Mario, while Shinsuke had donned a Luigi costume, both enthusiastically encouraging kids to try out the ZEPS system in Shinsuke's car. Another notable piece was the first-ever ZAGE flyer, designed entirely by Zaboru himself, now immortalized behind glass.

Finally, he hung a framed group photo of the original ZAGE employees—Zaboru, Shinsuke, Sayuri, Yugo, and Yuna. Looking at it, he felt a wave of nostalgia. So much had changed since their humble beginnings, even though its not a year yet yet.

With the Hall of Fame complete, Zaboru turned his attention to the rest of the office. He had brought an assortment of paints, brushes, and tools, determined to transform the workplace into a colorful and vibrant haven of creativity. He noticed several large, empty walls that were just begging to be filled with art.

Carefully, he mapped out his ideas, making sure to avoid painting near office computers and workstations. Then, with an eager grin, he picked up a brush and began his work.

His first creation was a dynamic mural of Mario leaping joyfully into the air. The sheer speed and precision of his strokes surprised even him. It was as if his artistic abilities had evolved, because of his Enlightment abilities his body moving with an efficiency he hadn't experienced before. Behind Mario, he painted Donkey Kong and Sonic in action poses, their presence adding to the mural's energy.

Turning to the opposite wall, he depicted Pac-Man mid-chase, accompanied by the spaceship from Gun-Nac soaring through the sky. Higher up, near the ceiling, he crafted a stunning portrait of Ryu Hayabusa, his ninja form exuding a powerful aura. Standing beside him was Akechi from "Legend of Akechi," looking stoic and battle-ready.

As he worked, he decided to pay tribute to his latest success—Z-Man that not yet released yet. One entire wall was dedicated to the five heroic rangers, each striking an iconic pose. Beside them, he whimsically included SpongeBob SquarePants smiling happily, standing next to Little Mac from "Punch-Out!!" with Boxing pose In another section, Mega Man and Samus Aran stood back-to-back, their arm cannons charged and ready.

The artwork continued to expand, filling every available space. Cody, Guy, and Haggar from "Final Fight" stood proudly alongside the Excitebike racer and the motorcyclist from "Hang-On." Near the corner, Zaboru painted an impressively detailed Solid Snake, his pose making it appear as if he were stealthily hiding in the shadows, with hand guns in hand.

As he admired his progress, a familiar voice called out.

"What the—?! Zaboru, did you draw all of this by yourself?!"

Ayumi stood at the entrance, eyes wide in amazement. The office was in complete disarray, with paint cans, brushes, and drop cloths scattered everywhere. But rather than looking messy in a bad way, the room was bursting with life, colors, and energy.

Zaboru grinned, wiping some stray paint from his cheek. "Yeah, pretty cool, huh? I'm almost finished, though. Sorry, Ayumi, I might be busy all night at this rate."

She stepped forward, taking in every detail of his work. "This is incredible… I didn't know you were this good at painting , i know you are very good at drawing but at painting... i didn`t know that.."

"Guess I surprised myself too!" he chuckled. "I just figured our office could use a little more personality. We're in the business of making games, after all. Might as well be surrounded by the characters we creates at ZAGE."

Ayumi smiled warmly. "Well, if you're going to keep working, I'll help however I can."

With that, she grabbed a brush and joined in. While she didn't have Zaboru's level of skill, she happily filled in backgrounds, added small details, and cleaned up the edges where needed. Together, they worked tirelessly throughout the day.

By the time night had fallen, Ayumi had already taken a few breaks, but Zaboru had yet to slow down. His energy seemed boundless. Ayumi watched him with both admiration and curiosity. "How are you not exhausted? You've been painting since five in the morning right?."

Zaboru just laughed, flexing his fingers. "When you love what you're doing, it doesn't feel like work at all! Just like when we—hm?"

He glanced at Ayumi with a teasing smirk, causing her to blush furiously. She knew exactly what he was implying. He was incredible in bed, and his stamina there was just as impressive as it was in everything else he did. "D-Don't bring that up right now!" she huffed, looking away.

Zaboru chuckle seeing his girlfriend reactions , then as Zaboru put the finishing touches on the murals, he stepped back to take in the full effect. The office had undergone a complete transformation. No longer was it just a workspace—it was now a celebration of gaming, creativity, and the vibrant world of ZAGE.

With the paint finally drying, all that remained was the cleanup. But even that could wait for tomorrow. For now, Zaboru basked in the satisfaction of a job well done.

The ZAGE office atmosphere would never be the same again.
