an illusion of mind

prologue

the earth shook, the universe quaked, mortals watched on in fear as the universe seamed to break, the sky pulsated as if it was on the verge of falling only held up by a strand.

"wh-what's happening!" mortals all around asked.

mages and scolars alike across the world studied the phenomenon seemingly unafraid of the situation while warriors looked at the pulsating sky not being able to tell what's happening but their heightened senses screaming at them, priests and religious figures all around watched on and preached.

"this! th-this is divine judgement! it must be!" they spoke and preached, however to whom this divine judgement is on, no one knew.

suddenly, all around the pulasing skies and the quaking of the universe stopped abruptly, the mortals let out a sigh of relief that was short lived as the universe quaked violently one last time before finally stopping once and for all.

this event went on to be recorded in history spoken about by the people as a great cataclysm, however that was none of arron's concern after all, it happened thousands of years ago, and it no longer had any relevance to the current age.

sure it might have been a great point of history however all that mattered to students of prism academy, was how they are going to spend this year.

students all around walked in to the and marveled at the sheer size of the academy that is funded and established by the royal empire.

it was a great sight indeed, and arron was extremely lucky to even step foot in here being a comoner, but, things will change after all he is now an honoured student of prism, arron strode towards the main entrance of the academy, he spotted many rich children of nobles and royalty even, might it be from neighboring empires or from kingdoms over seas.

he was extremely nervous about his first day, he couldn't stop shaking in excitement as he walked up to the gate and showed his academy invitation, the guard let him through as he garnered the yes of many other students, prism was filled to the brim with nobles and royalty, it was uncommon to see commoners in this academy, however it wasn't too rare.

he got even more nervous under the student's gazes, he steeled himself and walked forward feigning confidence.

arron stumbles on a rock and falls face first towards the ground as different chuckles all around could be heard, "god... that was embarrassing." arron got up to his knees his face heated, but before he could get up on his own, a hand was proffered to him, he looked up to see who it is.

there a beautiful girl with long silky smooth blonde hair proffering her hand to him, her eyes had a golden glint to them, she was clearly a noble or royalty even! he shouldn't get involved with her, the girl offered him a warm smile, arron decided against his better judgement and took her hand and got up.

"thank you..." arron said dusting his pants off, removing the dirt from them.

"no problem! what's your name?" the girl asked enthusiastically, her cheerful demeanour made her seem almost naive.

"uhm... arron, my name's arron... are you sure you want to speak to me?" arron said scratching the back of his head.

"hm? of course! why wouldn't i?" the girl tilted her head and smiled a little confused.

"well, you see i'm a commoner... i don't think a noble like you should get close to me..." arron said half heartedly.

"really?! that makes you even more interesting! a commoner that made it to prism should have extraordinary talent!" she said cheerfully smiling as she looked at arron.

"r-right... so, what's your name? i never got it." arron asked curiously.

"oh my name? it's amanda!" she said cheerfully, "amanda stellar.", this name made a lot of heads turn to them as arron practically gasped.

"people always have a reaction similar to that when they hear my name..." amanda said deflating a little as she thought arron would react differently.

"w-well people would always be surprised to see... a daughter of the stella royal family..." arron said calming down.

"after all, they are the ones who funded this entire academy..."

the stella royal family is the ruling family of the stelar empire, to see one of them here is no surprise, because the royal family is the one that established and funded the academy, infact it would be weirder for the princesses or princes to not be here, the prince is probably somewhere around the academy too...

"i guess you're right!" amanda brightened up as she strode forward, "well? what are you waiting for? are you not coming? the entrance ceremony is about to begin!" amanda beamed and motioned for arron to follow.

arron begrudgingly followed, he had a feeling his school year would not be a quiet one.

"intresting..." a figure watched the interaction from the side, a girl, also a student here, she had blonde curly hair that went down to her shoulders, she had blood red eyes and she wore the female school uniform all other students wore.

"this thing might not be too bad huh." she said smiling softly, before she got up, she walked alongside other students making her way to where the ceremony would be held.

she walked into the grand hall as she looked around with her hands on her chin, her smile widens "this is luxurious." she said before taking a seat at a table with refreshments and food on it.

the entrance ceremony to prism academy is a little different, it's like a social event where royals and nobles could make connections, after the principal of the academy delivers their words, the students will be given a period of time where they can socialize and talk with their friend, it's essentially a way to welcome new students to the academy.

as more students file in and fill up the giant hall, a loud sound could be heard, a girl walks up to the podium wearing the same uniform but red, most likely a senior, the girl stood straight and started speaking.

"students settle down please." the girl spoke her voice boomed over the students being heard by all the students at once, sound amplifying magic.

"the principal will be here shortly please wait." the girl said before stepping down from the podium.

suddenly a man appeared floating up over the crowd of students, the whispers intensified along with some gasps of students.

the man looked... this might be harsh to say, but he looked average extremely so, he just looked like an average middle aged man with black hair brown eyes and simple clothes, however him appearing over the students and floating there is proof enough that he's extraordinary, the man spoke up casually his voice being amplified by sound magic.

"students of prism, i would like to greet you and welcome you personally into my academy as the principal of prism."

and he went on speaking about boring stuff about the school year and how things worked, it's boring talk no one would listen to him anyways.

after a while of boring talk the principal clapped his hands and smiled, "well now that i'm done, let the ceremony begin." he said before disappearing into blue particals.
