Chapter 38 - At the Meeting Place (2)
An Yun was guided by Zang Ya, with the sound of horse hooves passing through various houses, and finally, after crossing an arch bridge, he entered another world.
This side of the bridge was still dilapidated and decaying, with farmhouses paved with broken stone bricks. After crossing the bridge, An Yun could see a flat green brick paving with uneven but festive lanterns hanging on both sides. Walking along these festive lanterns, he saw rows of wine houses with more than three floors built with new wood.
An Yun looked up at the exquisite statues under the eaves and at the beauty who was standing on the building, leisurely leaning against the window railings. She smiled slightly when looking down but did not say anything.
When the beauty saw An Yun, her eyes flashed with surprise, and her smile toward him grew larger.
After An Yun smiled back, she seemed to be stunned for a moment. When the beauty came back to her senses and looked in that direction again, she saw that the fulang had been hugged and left by the young master behind him.
An Yun examined the exquisite decorations on both sides and the people walking on the street, guessing their identities and the purpose of their visit.
Before An Yun could think for too long, their horses arrived in front of a house in the innermost part. Compared with the tall wine houses in front, this house was not very tall but was decorated in a particularly exquisite way.
The servant at the door saw them coming and seemed to know Zang Ya. He immediately greeted them and said as he walked, “I have seen the young master.”
Zang Ya turned over and got off the horse, reaching out to help An Yun down.
An Yun was still struggling with how to get down, and when Zang Ya extended his hand, he wanted to follow him. However, he felt a few eyes on him. He felt a little strange and turned his head to see the servant staring at him with wide eyes, as if he were doing something particularly strange. This look made him feel a little uncomfortable.
Just as An Yun was debating whether to follow Zang Ya’s lead, Zang Ya gently pinched his calf. When An Yun looked at him in pain, Zang Ya said, “Come down, I’ll catch you.”
Then, An Yun noticed that the servant’s gaze on him became increasingly intense, and his eyes widened a little.
Zang Ya turned his head and took a look.
The servant was startled and immediately lowered his head.
Zang Ya looked back at An Yun.
An Yun met Zang Ya’s gaze and saw in his eyes an urge to get off quickly. He made up his mind and followed Zang Ya’s led to get off the horse.
As a result, when he got off the horse, An Yun did not anticipate the aftereffects of his ride. His legs suddenly became weak, and he leaned forward subconsciously.
Zang Ya caught An Yun and helped him stand up straight, then said, “Slow down.”
An Yun didn’t know why his face felt a little hot and he felt a bit embarrassed. He looked up again and saw that the servant was secretly watching him. When the servant saw him looking over, he immediately retracted his gaze.
An Yun felt even more embarrassed.
After Zang Ya assisted An Yun, he held his hand and said, “Let’s go, take us in!”
The attendant immediately lowered his head and said, “Yes, please follow me.”
An Yun’s cheeks were a little hot until he was led by Zang Ya through the door. When the tall wooden door, which looked very gorgeous, opened in front of An Yun, he was captivated by the scene behind it and no longer paid attention to the embarrassing incident he had just experienced.
An Yun had been in this world for so long. It stood to reason that the Zang Mansion should have been the most magnificent and exquisite place he had ever seen, but compared with this place, it was still somewhat inferior.
No, it couldn’t be said to be inferior. The main reason was that, no matter how exquisite the details of the Zang Mansion were, they were generally grand.
An Yun didn’t know how to describe the decoration there. There was a sense of leisure everywhere. Once he walked in, he felt at ease, as if he had come here to relax.
An Yun didn’t know how this atmosphere was created, but he was particularly amazed. He felt that whether it was the owner of this place or the master who decorated it, the ingenuity was simply exquisite.
While An Yun was thinking this, his mood gradually relaxed as Zang Ya went deeper. Especially when he smelled the fresh grass and trees nearby, his mood improved significantly, and he unconsciously smiled.
Zang Ya turned his head to look at An Yun, nodded slightly, and felt that taking An Yun out today was the right move.
An Yun didn’t know how long he had been led by Zang Ya. When his feet were almost tired, they finally arrived at their destination.
It was a spacious terrace with many cushions and seats placed on it. It was situated on a rockery with flowing water. The space was particularly large, bright, and elegant. The best thing was that there was not only flowing water under the terrace but also some mist rising from the water, which made the terrace look even more ethereal.
At this time, many young men had come to the terrace. They were wearing light silk clothes and sitting casually, flirting with the waiters beside them before Zang Ya and An Yun arrived.
This scene should have been a bit fairy-like, but there were some cats, dogs, and other animals laying around, which disrupted the fairy-like atmosphere.
An Yun found it very strange and didn’t quite understand why they brought pets to the banquet. Was it popular among the children of noble families at that time?
