Chapter 32 - Old Madam Zang (1)
An Yun was shocked when he saw the kind-hearted old lady suddenly speaking so harshly. Hearing the contempt in her words, he clenched his fists.
Though he was angry, An Yun knew that he couldn’t compete with the old lady in any aspect and feared punishment if he said the wrong thing.
So, he tried his best to suppress his anger, recalled the servants he had seen salute, and attempted to make the same humble gesture, bowing in her direction.
However, An Yun felt that his attempt at etiquette was still full of errors and appeared inadequate in Old Madam Zang’s eyes.
Old Madam Zang looked coldly at the shuanger saluting her. He seemed to be in poor health, with no colour in his face. His skin was so white it was almost transparent, and he had black hair, black eyes, and red lips. His body looked delicate.
A few strands of hair slid down his smooth cheeks as An Yun saluted. They fell to his chest, highlighting his fragile beauty.
Old Madam Zang was very angry to discover that a shuanger had entered the family without her knowledge. When she saw how beautiful he was, her resentment grew even more intense. There was nowhere for her anger to go.
As she observed this shuanger’s delicate beauty, Old Madam Zang’s cloudy eyes took on a frosty look.
“Okay, very good. I originally thought that you, brought back by my son and doted on by my grandson, would look like a vixen. Now that I see you, you are indeed a charming person. You come from a dirty place, and you are really good at seducing people. I am afraid you have a lot of people waiting on you. My grandson is so infatuated with you at such a young age. You are indeed a disaster for my family.”
Old Madam Zang spoke without any attempt to hide her disdain, making her voice louder as if to humiliate An Yun.
The maids nearby listened silently, their heads lowered and their gazes fixed intently.
An Yun could feel that although these maids weren’t looking directly at him, their peripheral glances were filled with various emotions.
An Yun’s hands, hanging at his sides, clenched tightly. He knew he should endure it. After all, he had experienced similar humiliation in his previous life. He had been an orphan then, and a weak one at that. To survive that dark path, he had endured it all.
However, looking at Old Madam Zang’s contemptuous gaze, as if he were trash unworthy of mention, he couldn’t suppress his anger. He raised his eyes to meet hers and said directly, “I am not.”
Old Madam Zang didn’t expect the little shuanger in front of her to have the courage to talk back. Her voice grew louder, and her anger intensified.
“You are not? Do you want to say that you didn’t seduce my son and make him bring you back? Or do you want to say that after seducing my son, you found my grandson to be better and then sought his Favor? Or do you want to claim that you are still pure and untouched by men?”
An Yun looked directly at Old Madam Zang and retorted, “I am not, and I have never done anything you’ve mentioned. You have met me only once, so why make such subjective assumptions about me? How can someone as old as you and from a wealthy family say such filthy things? I’ve never encountered a lady from a wealthy family like you. Your words make you seem even worse. I wonder if you’re just a vulgar woman pretending to be someone else. How could someone from a wealthy family say such things?”
Old Madam Zang was already disgusted with An Yun, but when she heard his retort and saw his dazzling, beautiful face, she was reminded of a similar shuanger from the past who had flaunted his power before her and taken away the man she loved most.
Old Madam Zang seemed greatly provoked. She picked up the cup at hand and threw it directly at An Yun while shouting viciously, “How dare you! You bitch, how dare you speak to me like that?”
An Yun looked at the thing that had suddenly hit him and ducked to the side, letting it fall to the ground and break into several pieces. At the same time, he raised his eyes to look at the old lady in front of him, and there was a trace of emotion in his eyes— a little scared.
An Yun felt that this inexplicable old lady was really crazy now.
Old Madam Zang had been sitting in the position of the master of Zang Mansion’s backyard for many years. Everyone she had seen usually flattered and complimented her. How could such an ignorant person dare to talk to her like that?
Perhaps because she was too angry, Old Madam Zang’s chest heaved up and down, and she looked very angry.
The maid standing next to her hurriedly came forward, kept stroking on Old Madam Zang’s back, and whispered in Old Madam Zang’s ear,
“Old madam, breathe, don’t be angry. If you want to deal with him and make him realize his mistakes, you can just ask the slave to do it. Why should the old madam be angry like this? If the old madam became angry, it would not be good. This despicable thing. Since he dared to contradict the old lady, he should be taught a lesson. Otherwise, if someone like this came again in the future, he would continue to stain the old lady’s eyes.”
When the maid said this, she looked in the direction of An Yun, as if she had knives in her eyes. Looking at An Yun’s face, which was flushed with excitement and had become brighter, she couldn’t hide the jealousy and hatred in her eyes.
The maid’s words seemed to wake Old Madam Zang. Her rationality, which had just been blinded by anger, returned. She took several deep breaths and gradually calmed down.
Looking at the old lady who had gradually sat upright and stared at him calmly, An Yun suddenly felt a bad premonition for some reason.
