After Dressing Up As a Little Fulang

Chapter 30 - Rejected (2)

While the two maids were redressing up, An Yun stared at the purse in his hand and let out a long sigh. Forget it, he would remember Xiao Cui’s share for now, help her save that amount, and give it to her if there was a chance in the future.

However, he didn’t know when he would be able to save enough money for the things he wanted to do. An Yun thought about what he had planned the day before and felt a little melancholy for a moment.

An Yun memorized the knowledge he hadn’t forgotten from the day before, and then his thoughts wandered. He suddenly thought that, in addition to various cosmetics, modern girls also had different types of skincare products to use.

Sometimes, a small bottle of skincare product that didn’t seem like it would last for many uses actually cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. At that time, he had sighed a little, feeling that girls were really willing to spend money just to be beautiful.

Thinking of this, An Yun naturally had some thoughts about making this kind of skincare product, but he soon realized that it was useless even to consider it. He couldn’t make it at all at that moment. Even if essential oils were easy to make, he didn’t have the money to buy refining tools.

So, even though An Yun was very interested, he still couldn’t do anything for now. Perhaps, after accumulating for a while, he would have other plans.

While it was a pity that he couldn’t make that expensive skincare product, An Yun thought of something he might be able to create: compact powder. The method he knew had been improved many times by later generations and should be much better than the lead-added ones currently on the market.

However, making the powder required more effort than making lip balm and was a more conspicuous process. If he made it, he would likely attract a lot of attention.

An Yun’s current status was awkward. He was neither a guest nor a family member. He relied on the Zang family for food and shelter. If the Zang family ever grew tired of him, all his possessions would likely be taken back, leaving him with nothing.

It was precisely because of such worries that An Yun was so obsessed with selling his own products to make what seemed like small money in front of the Zang Mansion.

If only, if only he could leave this mansion and have his own little world, that would be great.

But before that, he still had to repay all the money the Zang family had spent on him. He didn’t know if he could repay so much money in his lifetime. However, even if he couldn’t finish repaying it, he would still try his best.

When others travelled through time, they became powerful figures with noble status and mastery over the world. But when it came to An Yun, he had to be cautious in his words and deeds.

Really, comparing oneself to others was truly disheartening.

As An Yun thought this, his expression remained melancholy, and he looked a bit desolate.

.

Xiao Cui was taken inside by Lu He to freshen up. The cloth on her head had come loose due to the large movements earlier.

Seeing this, Lu He helped her take it off and was about to bandage her again. However, there was a large area of redness and swelling under the cloth, with medicine still applied in the centre. It looked like it had been bandaged after bruising and bleeding.

Lu He was startled. The injured area had now cracked a bit due to the violent action just now, and it looked a bit frightening.

Xiao Cui looked up at her and smiled softly, “Don’t tell the fulang about this. I’m just a lowly maid, and minor injuries like this will heal quickly. But if I scare the fulang, that wouldn’t be good.”

Lu He was a little confused at first, but after a moment, she nodded, “I understand.”

A quarter of an hour later, the two of them finished tidying up and came out.

Xiao Cui helped An Yun with his tasks for a while. When she saw that it was almost time, she returned to the kitchen to prepare some medicine for An Yun.

Before stepping into the door of the kitchen yard, she heard the cook’s angry voice from inside, “You see that Xiao Miao, I told her to focus more on her work, but she didn’t listen. Now look at her, getting herself into trouble, getting beaten with a cane. Now I have to retrain another new maid!”

When Xiao Cui heard Xiao Miao’s name, she paused as she walked over. After a moment, she put away the hatred on her face, smiled again, and continued walking.

The cook, who was still cursing inside, rolled her eyes when she saw Xiao Cui coming in. A smile appeared on her round face as she said, “Xiao Cui, Chef Zheng was just looking for you. He told you to go to him when you came back.”

Xiao Cui kept a smile on her face and responded politely, “I understand, thank you, Aunt Jiang. I’ll go right away.”

Just as Xiao Cui started to move, Aunt Jiang stopped her. Seeing the confusion in Xiao Cui’s gaze, she winked and asked, “When did you get acquainted with Miss Qing Yue? How come she treats you so favourably?”

Xiao Cui slightly lowered her eyes, her tone becoming a bit ethereal, “I didn’t do anything special. I just caught the fulang’s attention, so Miss Qing Yue treated me a little better. It’s all thanks to the fulang’s kindness.”

After saying this, Xiao Cui bid Aunt Jiang goodbye, then turned around to find Chef Zheng.

Aunt Jiang stared at Xiao Cui’s back, spat, and muttered under her breath, “That little bitch, climbing up a high branch and already acting perfunctory with me.”

Xiao Cui didn’t hear what Aunt Jiang said, and even if she had, she wouldn’t have paid attention.

Yesterday, if Xiao Cui hadn’t firmly denied the accusations, insisting it was her own fault, she might have been in serious trouble. Later, Miss Qing Yue realized that Xiao Cui was trying to take the blame for An Yun and, in the end, let her go, considering her loyalty to An Yun and the young master’s instructions. If not for that, the person being carried out today might have been Xiao Cui instead of Xiao Miao.

Xiao Cui knew very well that as an inconspicuous little maid who did odd jobs and started fires, the only reason she had fallen under Miss Qing Yue’s notice and received preferential treatment was because she had caught An Yun’s eye.

An Yun enjoyed all this favour because of the young master’s special treatment, but An Yun himself seemed completely unaware of this.
