After Dressing Up As a Little Fulang

Chapter 21 - Indulged (5)

Suddenly, there was an exclamation from the side, and then something flew quickly over their heads, grabbing the hairpin from the maid’s head next to Song Ningxiang, and quickly stopping on a tree trunk not far away.

The maid seemed frightened and let out a piercing scream, startling everyone present.

There was no expression on Zang Ya’s face, but his eyes followed the flying thing and finally stopped at the nest not far from the bird’s feet.

When everyone looked over, they saw a colorful bird perched there, with many shiny things scattered in the nest.

Seeing this, Song Lin cursed inwardly and said to Zang Ya, “Young Master Zang, don’t be afraid. This beast didn’t do it on purpose. I will have someone catch it for you to vent your anger on.”

After saying that, Song Lin was about to send someone over.

Song Ningxiang was almost speechless and said, “Brother!”

Song Ningxiang had behaved gracefully and grandly all the way there, looking like a young lady from a big family. At that moment, her sudden exclamation shocked everyone.

Everyone was drawn to her voice and could not help but look in her direction.

Song Ningxiang felt uneasy under the scrutiny of so many eyes, but after glancing at the bird preening its feathers not far away, she suddenly made up her mind. She looked at Zang Ya and begged, “Young Master Zang, this bird is my favorite, and I allowed it to behave like this. It is also my fault that you were disturbed, so if you want to blame someone, just blame me.”

Song Lin, hearing his sister’s words, was so worried that sweat broke out on his forehead. He had just offended Zang Ya by leading the way. Now, wasn’t Song Ningxiang’s sudden interruption would make Zang Ya angrier?

Song Lin’s mind raced to find an excuse to defend his sister, but before he could speak, he heard Zang Ya ask, “What are the things in its nest?”

Song Ningxiang, thinking she would surely anger him, was surprised when Zang Ya did not punish her but was instead gentle. She hesitated and said carefully, “That nest is full of gadgets that it likes.”

“Are they the same hairpin picked from someone’s head just now?” Zang Ya’s tone showed no emotion or anger.

Song Ningxiang felt a bit embarrassed and finally whispered, “Not entirely. Because it likes beautiful things, I placed some around it and let it pick them up.”

“Why did you do that?” Zang Ya seemed a little confused.

Song Ningxiang’s voice grew softer and more embarrassed, “Because I like it very much. It is the most beautiful pet in my yard, and after it gets something it likes, it can sing. The sound is very nice, and I like it.”

As if to confirm Song Ningxiang’s words, the beautiful bird began to sing, and its clear songs resonated throughout the entire yard. Combined with the sound of running water, it created a natural melody.

Zang Ya shifted his gaze from Song Ningxiang to the bird. He suddenly laughed and said, “This bird is quite interesting. You must be a competent master.”

Song Lin and Song Ningxiang did not understand why Zang Ya said this. They only knew that, this time, it seemed they had passed Zang Ya’s test.

Next, Song Lin took Zang Ya for a walk for a while and then had dinner in the yard before Zang Ya said goodbye and left.

Song Lin and Song Ningxiang sent Zang Ya outside the yard. When they saw him mounting his horse and preparing to leave, they felt relieved, thinking the day was finally over.

Zang Ya, riding his horse and looking down at them, finally said, “Thank you for the hospitality today. I have prepared some small gifts. I hope you will accept them.”

After saying this, the attendant beside Zang Ya, who had not yet mounted his horse, handed a box to Song Lin.

Song Lin received it with apprehension.

After Zang Ya galloped away, Song Lin let out a long breath.

“Brother, you better not invite this Young Master Zang next time! This is too scary. I thought I would be killed by him today.”

Song Lin heard this and felt a bit braver, thinking he was not punished today. “What are you talking about? Young Master Zang didn’t do anything to us. Next time, let’s be more careful.”

Song Ningxiang was a little unhappy.

Ignoring his sister’s displeasure, Song Lin opened the box that Zang Ya had just given him and found a post inside.

At first, Song Lin was a bit confused, but when he took out the post and saw its contents, his eyes widened in surprise, and he couldn’t help but be delighted. “This is actually a permit. Father had sought it after many efforts. Young Master Zang actually gave this as a gift. Now my father should be very happy. I said, if we could climb this big tree like Young Matster Zang, our lives would be much easier.”

.

Zang Ya galloped all the way back to the mansion.

The weather had cooled down by that time, but Zang Ya was still sweating due to the sweltering heat in the city. As soon as he returned, he immediately ordered people to prepare a bath.

Qing Yue went to serve Zang Ya as soon as he arrived back. Upon hearing Zang Ya’s request, she hurriedly began preparing for it.

After Zang Ya finished his bath, he went straight to the third floor, where he sat enjoying the breeze and listening to Qing Yue’s report.

Zang Ya sat on the mat in a casual posture. Qing Yue stood in front of him, but she dared not look up too much; she just lowered her head and said, “Today, I went to the Zhao Mansion to bring Jinyun yarn back as instructed. The master of the Zhao family seemed unaware of the young master and his son’s agreement. Later, Young Master Zhao asked Mrs. Zhao for help, but he was beaten so severely that he couldn’t get out of bed. I heard that several doctors were summoned, and Mrs. Zhao couldn’t stop crying.”

There was no expression on Zang Ya’s face as he commented, “He’s a fool.”

Listening to Zang Ya’s words, Qing Yue added hesitantly, “Today, when I went to the warehouse to store the Jinyun yarn, I met An Fulang. He took some gauze and seemed to be making something.”

Zang Ya shifted his gaze from the window and turned to Qing Yue, “Well, I understand. You may go now.”

Qing Yue raised her head and glanced at Zang Ya before leaving.

After Qing Yue left, Zang Ya looked out the window again and saw An Yun and his little maid. They were busy and moving around, though their movements were not large. It was evident that they were very happy.

Zang Ya observed them with great interest. He then thought about the daughter of the Song family he had met today and her bird, and murmured, “Since it is a beloved pet, it is natural for it to have its own little hobbies. In this way, pets can perform better, live longer, and bring enough surprises to their owners.”

As a master, it seemed he had to be more tolerant of An Yun.
