After Being Reborn, I Refuse To Be The Holy Son Of The Sect Anymore

Chapter 90:

Chapter 90:

In a secluded valley within the northern mountains of Yuanlong City, Xiao Yang strode into the depths of a cave.

From his hiding spot, Chu Guiyuan watched with smug satisfaction. To him, Xiao Yang was a fool, so easily deceived into entering the cave.

With such naivety, how had he even become the Holy Son of the Azure Sun Sword Sect?

Chu Guiyuan had long received intelligence about the cave. It didn’t house a Fire Qilin Beast but another ninth-level spirit beast, even more dangerous.

Soon, powerful energy ripples and Xiao Yang’s furious roar echoed from within the cave.

“It’s started…” Chu Guiyuan whispered excitedly.

“Holy Son, you’re brilliant. Xiao Yang probably doesn’t even realize how he’s going to die,” Chu Xiao remarked, impressed by Chu Guiyuan’s cunning.

“That’s what he gets for being so stupid. He deserves it!” Chu Guiyuan replied, his face glowing with pride.

A loud rumbling suddenly came from the cave. Rocks tumbled from the walls as the entire structure shook. The battle inside was clearly intense.

Chu Guiyuan knew all too well how formidable the ninth-level spirit beast inside was. His team had previously tried to hunt it, suffering a crushing defeat instead.

Now, tricking Xiao Yang into the cave was their way of ensuring his doom.

“Huh? Why is it quiet now?” Chu Guiyuan frowned. The energy ripples had abruptly ceased, and the cave fell eerily silent.

“Over so quickly?” Chu Guiyuan muttered in surprise.

“Xiao Yang must have been no match for the beast. It likely ended him in moments,” he concluded. Xiao Yang’s aura had completely disappeared, and the ninth-level spirit beast’s presence had grown faint.

It was just as Chu Guiyuan had hoped. Xiao Yang had likely delivered a desperate counterattack before dying, severely wounding the beast.

“Did they both perish?” Chu Xiao speculated.

“Ha!” Chu Guiyuan couldn’t hold back his laughter anymore. He stepped out from his hiding place, unable to contain his glee.

“Xiao Yang, you’re such a fool!” he laughed triumphantly.

He had never expected that such a simple trick would end the life of the Azure Sun Sword Sect’s Holy Son, someone who had once defeated the prodigious Li Xingyao of the Floating Sword Sect and made a name for himself across the Northern Territory.

But what of it? Xiao Yang had still fallen victim to his scheme.

Brimming with confidence, Chu Guiyuan swaggered toward the cave.

“Holy Son…” Chu Xiao and the others hesitated, worried about potential dangers, and quickly followed him.

Inside the cave, two green lights suddenly flared in the darkness.

“What…” Chu Guiyuan froze as though paralyzed. A chill ran through him, and his body broke into a cold sweat.

The light grew brighter, revealing a cold blue glow spreading through the cave. It was as though the very air was being frozen.

“BOOM!”

A massive column of icy blue energy erupted from the depths of the cave, heading straight for Chu Guiyuan.

“Run!” he shouted, diving to the side. His voice managed to alert Chu Xiao and the others.

The icy column grazed Chu Guiyuan, freezing the edges of his clothing into brittle shards. He narrowly avoided death, but Chu Xiao and the two other Guiyuan Martial Sect disciples were not as lucky.

Before they could react, the icy blast struck them, sending their bodies flying a dozen meters away. Their limbs stiffened as frost quickly enveloped them.

Chu Guiyuan scrambled out of the cave, but another icy blast struck him square on his backside.

“AHHH!” Chu Guiyuan screamed as he was flung ten meters, landing in a grotesque position with his legs over his head. He slid several more meters before coming to a stop, face buried in the dirt.

When he tried to move, he realized his backside was encased in solid ice.

“What’s happening!” Chu Guiyuan wailed, spitting out dirt. He lay sprawled on the ground, completely humiliated.

The situation was surreal. Just moments ago, he had been filled with pride. Now, he was the picture of disgrace.

A massive figure emerged from the cave. It was a colossal silver serpent, its body shimmering under the sunlight. Its scales gleamed like polished metal, radiating a biting chill that caused the entire valley’s temperature to plummet.

“The Frost Serpent!” someone in the distance exclaimed.

Nearby cultivators, drawn by the commotion, fled the moment they saw the serpent.

“My… my backside… I can’t feel it!” Chu Guiyuan cried in horror, touching the icy shell encasing his posterior.

Just as the Frost Serpent lunged for him, Chu Xiao hurled a Thunder Pearl at the beast. The explosion crackled like lightning, temporarily forcing the serpent back.

At that moment, a figure calmly walked out of the cave.

“Xiao Yang?” Chu Guiyuan gasped in disbelief.

Xiao Yang was unscathed. How was this possible?

“Chu Guiyuan, are you trying to cool off your backside? Ice therapy, huh?” Xiao Yang teased, glancing at Chu Guiyuan’s comical state.

Unable to hold back, Xiao Yang burst into laughter.

“You…” Chu Guiyuan’s face turned red with embarrassment, wishing he could disappear into the earth.

“You think you’re clever?” Xiao Yang approached him, his tone icy.

“Brother Xiao, don’t joke around…” Chu Guiyuan forced a smile that looked more like a grimace.

“Do I look like I’m joking? How does it feel to have your rear frozen? Enjoying it?” Xiao Yang smirked, stomping on Chu Guiyuan’s frozen backside.

“AHHH!” Chu Guiyuan howled as the ice shattered, leaving his rear bloody and raw.

“Your backside’s gone! Frozen off completely!” Xiao Yang mocked, making Chu Guiyuan even more frantic.

Meanwhile, the Frost Serpent devoured one of Chu Guiyuan’s companions, its eyes locking onto him next.

“Holy Son!” Chu Xiao cried, trying to intervene, but the serpent’s tail lashed him away like a ragdoll.

Seeing the serpent charge, Chu Guiyuan panicked. Struggling to his feet, he stumbled and collapsed again, shrieking in pain.

“You…” Chu Guiyuan glared at Xiao Yang but had no time for revenge. He crushed a teleportation talisman, disappearing in a flash of light.

He left his companions behind, fleeing for his life.

As Xiao Yang chuckled at the chaos, a fiery shadow emerged from another part of the valley—a beast wreathed in flames.

“The Fire Qilin Beast?” Xiao Yang murmured, his eyes narrowing.
