Chapter 15: The Vault of the Gods
The upper district of Eidolon before Celeste,
It's a structure covered with golden runes pulsing with locked Aether.
Celeste crouched , her cloak blending into the shadows. Below, a squad of Enclave agents patrolled the entrance. These weren't ordinary guards; they were trained Aether Sentinels, warriors capable of wielding divine blessings granted by the gods themselves.
Shit.
She exhaled, centering herself. Tonight
She was going to break them.
Aether Unleashed
With a flick of her wrist, Celeste let her Aether flow as whisper in the air. The silver energy seeped into the air around her, blending into the edges of reality itself. To the guards below, their surroundings seemed unchanged, but Celeste was already moving— between the cracks of perception.
One step, and she was on the ground. Another, and she passed between the two guards like mist in the wind. They didn't even flinch.
She smirked
Slipping past the final patrol, Celeste reached the doors. They were massive, inscribed with divine sigils meant to repel forces like her.
Too bad I'm not bounded to their laws.
She placed her hand against the sigils and let her Aether twist Then, with a quiet hum, the massive doors opened on their own.
Celeste stepped inside.
The air within was heavy— Rows of relics lined the chamber, each sealed in enchanted glass cases. Blades that shimmered with unreal light. Tomes filled with lost incantations. Aether-forged armor humming with power.
And at the center of the vault stood a pedestal, bathed in divine radiance.
Celeste approached, heart pounding. Resting atop it was a small, black crystal—pulsing with an Aether . It was raw, and untamed. Older than the Pantheon. Older than even the myths that spoke of the gods' reign.
She reached for it—
And the moment her fingers brushed the crystal's surface, the vault exploded with golden light.
Celeste stepped back as alarms blared through the chamber.
golden chains erupted from the ceiling, coming toward her like a beam of light. She dodged, as the chains slammed into the ground where she had stood.
More chains surged forward. Celeste threw her hands out—but instead of blocking, she let Aether consume them.
A shadow loomed at the entrance.
"there you are unbound one," a voice said.
Celeste turned.
Standing at the doorway was an Enclave commander in black and gold armor, with a sigil carved into his forehead.
Aether crackled around him
Something was wrong.
Celeste looked at them and tightened her grip on the crystal.
